I will be watching for the trip updates from Australia because the man has a way of making me belly laugh...thanks, Pete! Keep 'em coming...

Asking for off menu items and menu changes will also be a cultural experience for you pete. While it is done here, aussies do not go to the extend of ordering 'off menu' like i have experienced in america. it will be interesting to hear of your experiences in this regard.
The food is definately a cultural experience as well, representing the best of modern australian cooking with references to all the ethnic cusines that influence our culture. All items you mention are traditional items from various cusines.
<snip>The se asian food also works in the tropical climate you are in atm.
That whole bathroom thing, is also around in the Scandinavian countries but when I have seen it, it's been an actually opening to the side of the tub, that can be completely closed for privacy and the shower is not part of the tub.
If I were sharing that room with someone, I'd be hanging a blanket up over that window.
I agree with that. Asking for something off the menu is something that is not done here in Australia but is considered rude in many cases. No wonder they freaked out.
Dont worry Pete, when you get to sydney you will be able to get anything your hearts desire including internet![]()
If the Australian Iphone makes breakfast in the morning, then I'm in!
