Seriously considering BWV.....

We love the theming--kind of a relaxing, casual elegance. The rooms are bright and laid out very well.. We love being "home" a few minutes after Illuminations ends. Walking to our 2 favorite parks is wonderful. I enjoy the entertainment at night and just sitting by the water eating pizza from the pizza window and people watching. We are content in standard views and probably get a couple extra nights a year on our points using them. I never get tired of going through Wyland Gallery. Taking a boat across to the Beach Club to roast marshmellows and see a movie under the stars is a tradition every trip.

But the biggest reason we bought BWV is that we can get in most other places a few months out, but not so with the standard views at BWV.

We are so glad we bought DVC and chose BWV as our home resort.

We bought BWV in 1999 when DS was 4. At the time, we thought that it would be nice not to have to use the bus transportation -- especially while he was smaller. He is now close to 15, and BWV continues to be his favorite home away from home. (We've tried to entice him into going over to BCV a few times, but he's only really wanted to once -- when he had a friend with him and that friend was interested in trying out SAB.) We love having the BoardWalk right outside; we love sitting on our balcony and watching the street theater; we love the ambience. We have tried AKV, OKW, SSR, and BCV, but when I asked the boys (DH and my DS) recently where they would most like to stay in July -- we had our choice at the time -- they both said BWV, for sure.

OP - just wanted to add that I take a lot of non-park trips. And although it's quite the tease to have Epcot and MGM (I just can't type HS) right there - well honestly it's a great place just to simply hang out. Can't be beat for that.

I can't even tell you how many hours I have spent on that front porch in a rocking chair. That porch feels like magic can happen at any moment. Or drinking a rum and coke on the BW. Or eating a brownie AND a fruit plate :lmao: from the boardwalk bakery. Or at ESPN watching bball. Hours just hanging out.

Also, I always get off at the Swan and walk to the BW when using the buses or the boats. It's such a short walk and you don't have to sit for the milk run.

All the best to you! And let us know what you decide.

We bought into DVC when SSR was being sold. I knew I didn't want that one as my home resort, so bought BWV based mostly on the standard room category that would enable us to stay at an EPCOT resort for less points. My kids are young and we've found BWV a good fit. We booked a BW view for our last trip and wow, what a great location!

If I had the option, however, I'd go with AKV. We stayed in Jambo House last year and found the resort offered our kids a lot of activities. We plan on staying in Kadani during our next trip. The water playground looks incredible. But really, if you buy at BWV you'll likely be able to book at AKV w/o problem, so you can't go wrong with either.

We has just rented a Standard View BWV stay at the end of next January, and this thread is making us super excited. Thanks for everyone's input.

What is the milk run? Does it affect buses and boats?

I've not heard it called the "milk run" before, but busses often stop at Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach, and THEN Boardwalk. One of the stops at S&D is very close to the Boardwalk. So...you can get off the bus before going all the way around Y&BC, and under Epcot to get back to the Boardwalk Bus Stop.

For us the most important thing was location. We love being able to walk to Epcot and the Studios.

Us too. :) We own BWV and BCV, and although we have stayed elsewhere and liked the resorts, for us nothing beats the location. Epcot and the Studios are our favorite parks so when we stay anywhere else we hate riding the buses and totally miss the convenience of walking. My DH might have said it best when we stayed at AKV- "if they could just uproot the whole resort and pop it down next to Epcot I'd love it."

That being said, we're spending a night at BLT in a few weeks, so I can't wait to see if we like the monorail to Epcot or still miss being able to walk.

Our family LOVES BW always stay there for the 4th of July Holiday! Location is so nice, Plus after a long day we enjoy a late night stroll around the Lake....Shawnpirate:

Thanks. That's good advice. On the positive side of that, can I presume that the Boardwalk bus stop is the last stop when heading out, meaning shorter commute times to MK and AK, etc.?

Also, are the buses often filled to capacity by the time they get to the Boardwalk bus stop?

I was just being cheeky using "milk run". It's just slang for many stops on the way so to speak. :goodvibes

Sometimes the BC/YC are separated off the route.

Yes the BW is the last stop out. I've never noticed the buses filled to capacity but I do a lot of non-park trips (but then again still use the buses to go eat in park areas and roam around). I would think that they are rarely at capacity because the five resorts are deluxe resorts - ie. tend to have more people using cars instead of buses (gneralization but probably true)

We love the Boardwalk itself, quick access to 2 parks, lots of close dining options (including all of World Showcase), you can't beat a room with a Boardwalk view either.

Really nice to relax on the balcony w/a glass of wine and watch the fireworks from Illuminations shooting up from the other side of the building, or just reflecting off the waters of Crescent Lake. You can stroll up the bridge near the International Gateway and watch Illuminations away from the throngs in World Showcase.

Go to Jellyrolls and request a favorite song, and enjoy an adult beverage.

Dare your kids to go down the Keester Coaster water slide at the pool!
