I have been trying to get thru on the phone for weeks, and the wait time is assinine. Now I'm starting to get desperate, because I cruise in less than 2 weeks. This morning I called right at 8 am. I was on hold for over 70 minutes, with no stated wait time. I came here to the board to see if anyone was having luck getting thru, but all I read were horror stories. Until I read one post saying she just clicked on the new reservation prompt (#3). I hung up, called back, hit #3 and I was speaking to a CM in less than 60 seconds.

I told him I was cheating the system and was already booked, but he was ready and willing to help me with my issue.
 

Well i did this too and then my agent needed to call for assistance and we ve been waiting for that since 2,5h
 
The part that annoys me the most is how easily you can also book a new cruise online... which everyone calling for other things generally can't achieve on their own.
Well, unless you have an OBB placeholder.

It worked for me yesterday. I called right at 8:00. I selected the option for an existing reservation. My initial call was answered at 8:05. The CM who first answered transferred me to the website help line because I was having difficulty booking activities for my cruise online. I had a 40 minute wait, only to get a CM that was condescending, seemed more interested in lecturing to me than listening to what I was saying, and just didn't give me much confidence in her answers. I hung up, called back, selected the option for a new reservation and my call was answered within a couple minutes by a very nice CM who was able to help me without being condescending. He commented that he was surprised I was able to get through so quickly since I'd already spoken with someone that morning and it wasn't even 9:00 yet. I just mumbled something about being lucky and redirected the conversation, not wanting to risk him redirecting me to a different line.
 
Yes, this has worked for me many times. As long as you don't have some special issue (like converting a placeholder), it works like magic.
 
It probably is the same group of CM’s and they don’t know which option got you to them. The option for new cruise probably just skips the queue.

Those aren't considered a "new" cruise... it would be much easier if it was just something that could be applied and not altered, for sure!

Maybe easier now, but when there is a big launch of new dates it is nice to have some of the info already filled in.
 
Lol watch the existing reservation lines get faster hold times when the new summer 2023 sailings go live. Then you don't want to hit new reservation.
 
Honestly reading threads like this for months, this is a leadership problem with Disney and someone high up within DCL leadership chain should be replaced over this. Speaking from calling Royal Caribbean multiple times on our upcoming July cruise, their competition does not have this issue when selecting issues with an existing reservation. Given the length of time folks have been complaining regarding long wait times, the phone system could have been upgraded 2-3 times by now to provide a call back option. I bet you and I and anyone on the street could Google search and find a company that could do this upgrade service. Says Disney leadership doesn't care about you once they have your initial booking.
 
My wife had been on hold for just over 4 hours three times (hung up on all three times) over the last two days. I told her to try this, and she had our issues resolved with someone in under 20 minutes. *** disney!!!
