I was booking today at my 7 month window and wanted to put in a wait list for another resort that our friends were at. When I put in the waitlist, the cast member stated they had new guidelines and asked “by confirming the set up for this waitlist I am agreeing that this is for personal use only”

I have only done a waitlist one other time and not had that happen before, so clearly this is new and trying to stop rental companies.

Not sure how well this will work because it’s just a verbal “yes” but it’s a step!

This began a while ago. I'm unsure of the exact date but it was some time in July of this year. You will be asked to affirm that a reservation is intended for personal use any time that you call regarding a reservation, whether it's to make a room request, reallocate points, combine reservations, add the dining plan, etc. Seriously...it's any time you call, not just when you want to change a lead name. You also need to check a box affirming the same thing when making online reservations or modifications.

This started June 1st and it’s just a way to remind everyone of the rules and to be sure you understand the booking terms and conditions.

No matter what you are booking, or what you are you are asked this question.

The only time I was not was when I added a room request.

Honestly, the most surprising thing about your post is that you actually called in to put in a waitlist when you can do it in 2 seconds online.

It wouldn’t let me online, only a 2br was showing up not a studio. Probably because there was 1 night during the week available to be booked but it wasn’t an option. No reason to be rude about it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can’t see why they’d bother going about this change if this chapter was the entire plan. By itself it barely does anything other than take up the time and resources of MS and owners.

Would make sense for them to proactively raise awareness regarding use of our contracts for a period of time before making adjustments to enforcement. For where it may matter, at least give those people a chance to revisit our contract terms around usage. Otherwise what can they say come December’s meeting? I doubt they think saying “Well we made people attest to personal use and that’s all we can do” will pass muster.

For future, when it shows some availability, open it up and change the calendar dates for that room back to the dates you want.

This will allow you to waitlist the entire stay with some availability.

It’s also possible that there has been a change in the number of owners holding more than the 20 reservations which remains the official policy.

Unfortunately, that isn’t something owners will be privy to.

It will be interesting to see what updates they share.
