So, when I checked in online there were of course no family cabanas left but I was able to get a Serenity Bay cabana. will this be useful at all to us if we have kids with us (8yo and 10 yo)? We are traveling with our inlaws so we could theoretically switch on and off with them so that an adult was with the kids while the rest of us enjoy the adults only area. I have been to Castaway Cay before but I have no idea how far Serenity Bay is from the main beach. I know my father inlaw might really like being able to get a drink so easily and get out of the sun since he has mobility issues. What do you all think? Thanks!

The distance from the Family Beach area to Serenity Bay is about 3/4 mile. You can walk it, but it's basically on an exposed asphalt area (really hot). Or you can take a tram from serenity bay to the family beach area. They run about every 15-20 minutes.

THank you so much. Maybe we will "gift" this to my inlaws and they can hang out there.

If you wanted to allow your kids to go the the on-island version of the kids club for a hour or two (somebody help me with the name) you could visit your in-laws at "their" cabana for a while...

would your inlaws like a day on the beach to themselves away from the kids? If not, I wouldn't book the Serenity Cabana. It's a lot of money, and trying to combine the cabana with a family day would be a PITA. Family lunch, swimming/snorkeling together, and CC excursions would leave the cabana empty if your inlaws want to participate

Just a note, the Serenity Beach cabanas are not direct ocean front property like the family beaches. There are a few paths through the sand dune to the main beach and down to the water (which might be pretty far out during low tide). Just a minor difference. But they would be nice for mobility isses and feature many of the same perks as the family beach cabanas

While I love my cabana on SB when its just me and my husband, when we travel with the grandkids, I prefer to be with them.
I try to book a family beach cabana, but sometimes they aren't available (especially on The Fantasy). We will just spend the day with the kids on family beach.
I think you should ask your in-laws what they prefer to do.
Whatever they choose, they will have a great day!

Thank you everyone. I will talj with the inlaws. I bet what will happen is that my husband and his dad end up in the cabana while MIL and I play with the kids on the beach, lol. Thank goodness for those drinks in the coconuts
