It seems that it'll be the Sequoia Lodge where DBF and I are going to stay (probably Montana room, king-size bed, lake view). I looked at some pictures of the rooms, and those rooms look about as small as the ones at the Santa Fe!

Please, reassure me the rooms are nice and somewhat romantic.... :(
(nope, unfortunately, NPB is not an option, no free rooms)

Hello,

never been to the Santa Fe. The size of the SQL rooms is ok for Europe.
It is the theme of the hotel, the trees, the chimney etc. which makes this hotel romantic in autum/winter (at least for me). Does size really matter :teeth: ?
The Montana rooms are not the suites, so you can expect the average room size for a three star hotel, which was fine for us.

How small was the room in the Santa Fe?

Btw. Personally, I would prefer the ground floor in the lodges. Ok, you do not have the view over the lake, but it is so nice, to look out the window, see the trees and you can feel, like you are really in a mountain resort.

Couldn't say how much but they're definitely larger. :thumbsup2 I've the memory that we almost couldn't move in our tiny room at Santa Fee. But that's not the case in the SL.

I just checked in 'a brit's guide to DLP' and it says this about the standard room sizes:

Santa Fe: 21sq m/226sq ft
Cheyenne: 21sq m/226sq ft
Sequoia Lodge: 22sq m/237sq ft
Newport Bay Club: 27sq m/290sq ft

But isn't the Montana room larger than 22 sq m? I thought it is. :confused3

Just looked it up for both kind of rooms. Sorry to say, but it really is 22 sq m in the standard and the montana room.
I'm sorry I told you something wrong. I thought the rooms are bigger or we might have been upgraded to a Montana room at our second stay there, because it was much bigger than a standard room. BUt the more space we had might have something to do with that the room was at the end of the floor or the corner of the building. The roomshape was totally different and elongated.

But if it's a couple trip you surely could enjoy the cosy atmosphere that the SL has especially at Christmas time.

If you need more information about SL and the rooms, I've found that thread:

or have a look here:

I really didn't think there was any difference in size between a standard Newport Bay and Sequoia Lodge room. :confused3 Looking at the virtual visits though, the SL room is definitely a little bigger than the Santa Fe one - there is room for a table and two chairs, not just one small chair.

While the SL rooms are not quite as colourful as those at the Santa Fe, they are still very nice, and it is a lovely hotel as a whole, especially for a winter visit. I'm sure you will find it to be a suitably romantic place to stay :goodvibes

thank you all for your responses.
No, size doesn't matter ;) and the people you're with are more important than the place you're at, but I want everything to be practically perfect for our first trip together and for his first visit to DLP. (And no, Castle club at DLH is unfortunately not an option, not if you take 5 disney-vacations in a 13-month time period :rotfl: )

Today, I told my boss at work that I was quitting here, so now the only thing that is still in between me and the Mouse is the fact that I have to beg for my two days off in December!!!

Hi,

if he is a beginner, be gentle. My wife was in DLRP for the first time in summer and the first day was a deseaster, because I wanted to show her everything and Saloon Mickey was overcrowded with rude people. Sometimes people need some time to become addicted (In her case it was the third day :goodvibes , and she loves the Saloon now, because it was wonderfull the other days, so we have dream passports now and we will return together in June 07). The SQL is perfect for a couple in love. You do not have to show him everything on your first stay. You want to have a reason to return :p with him to DLRP to share the addiction, do you?

Wish you a cosy romantic stay and don't forget your bathing suits, the pool is great at the SQl (IMHO much better than in the DLH)

Greetings

kaido

thanks again for all your responses. As you might have read in the other thread, we won't be staying at the SL.

First of all, the pool won't be open during our stay, and secondly, DBF also didn't really like the pictures of the rooms. Instead, we're staying at the HNY... I'm so excited!

Although I would like DBF to really like Disney, he doesn't have to be addicted as me, as long as he understands my addiction, I'm fine with it, and as long as he allows me to go to DLP, I'm OK with it!

Glad you got it booked :)
As a further size comparison in the Brits guide it says standard rooms at the Hotel New York are 31 m/334sq ft.
So sounds like a great choice for more space among all the other benefits!
Have a great time :)

The rooms were okay - the space similar to other hotel rooms in Europe (though I've done really well with size in various hotels).

It didn't feel as small as 237 sq feet, that sounds small now! :)
