Hi, I'm new to this forum.

We are booked to go to DLP on 29 May 2011, which will be our first trip. :)

We are booked into a Montana room at the Sequoia Lodge and the travel agent and Disneyland have said we will be booked into the main hotel but from reading this forum, I understand that the hotel is being refurbished and the Montana rooms are being refurbished.

I’m a little  as to whether we will get one of the old rooms in the main building or if we will be given, a refurbished room, which I believe, are now separate from the main building?

the montana rooms are all (as far as i know) located in the main building, the advantage being they are close to the bar, breakfast etc. (although not the pool as this is housed a very small walk from the main building)

i can tell you for sure next week when we are there.....hoooorrrrraaaayyyy!!

Hope you have a great time. Please come back and let me know about the rooms. :)

don't know for sure but i've been reading that if you've paid for a montana room you will be put in one of the newly refurbished lodges rather than the main building.

Yes, that's what I've read but the travel agent said we will still be in main hotel so a bit unsure? I guess we will find out soon enough.

i've just read that! really confused now. i liked being in the main building as easy to get to breakfast etc. it would be good to get a refurbished room but i really want to be there. its only been two years since we last went but so much has changed!

i felt really prepared but now i'm not sure...
will see in 4 days

Just my two cents, I was worried about this as well as I had booked a "Lake View Room" via the DLP website... I called disney and got told that this was definately in the main building as that's where I always like to be, refurbished rooms or not!

We're going in again in November anyway, so will enjoy the new rooms then :)

Oh boy- we just booked the Sequoia for June.
WHAT'S A MONTANA ROOM?? :rolleyes1

It used to be that Montana Rooms are the rooms in the main building rather then the lodges. Although there is slight confusion as to whether that are still in the main building or been moved to the lodges as that is where they have started refurbing them

Yes, that's what I was told but I've been reading that they are refurbishing the lodges and calling them Montana rooms so really confused as to where we will be when we go.:confused3

From what I have read, I would guess your chances are that the Montana room will be in the Lodges, not in the Main Building. I personally prefer to stay in the Main Building, but in this case I think a newly refurbished room will be worth it not to be in the Main Building! The SL rooms started to look really shabby in recent years, so the newly refurbished room is mist likely a much better quality than anything you could get in an old room in the Main Building. The walk is actually not very far and very pretty.

Am I understanding correctly that the whole hotel will be refurbished, but they are only finished with the lodges yet? Would anybody happen to know when the main buildung (and thus the "real Montana rooms") will be done?

It’s all very confusing. I would like a refurbished room but have been told it’s better to be in the main building so I will just have to wait and see what we get when we arrive but I know I can’t have it all ways. :)

On magicforum there is a report from the recent event with fan-website people and there it says:

Disney's Hotel Sequoia Lodge
- 2011: 556 rooms will be redone in 2011
- 2012: 445 remaining rooms.
- The airconditioning and air recycling system will be revised to make it more ecological.
- Interior materials and furniture originate from Portugal, France, Belgium and Germany.
- A new breakfast room is being considered

The full report can be viewed here:http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10822

To clear up confusion, I just phoned. This is how it stands :
MONTANA rooms are the OLD LODGES. They have been refurbished and therefor the price difference. Lake side rooms are inside the MAIN BUILDING and not refurbished, STANDARD rooms are INSIDE the MAIN BUILDING
Once the refurb is finished, it will revert back to how it used to be. Personally i've never had a problem with the main building and it horrorfies me to pay extra to have to WALK outside to eat breakfast, might as well stay in the Cheyenne!!

Thanks for phoning Lisa. We booked a Montana room so we would be in the main hotel but it looks like we might be in the lodges now. Although, when I queried with my Travel Agent they told me we would still be in the main building.

Thing is with travel agents, they go by what they read in the brochure, unless they are specifically a Disney rep, they don't get the knowledge passed on. They have no idea about refurbs going on, they just sell the holidays :-(
But the new rooms look gorgeous! Last I was there, I could see directly into a room that was being worked on and you won't be disappointed :goodvibes

Thanks Lisa I'm looking forward to it so hope I won't be disappointed. Can I ask have you eaten at any of the restaurants in the SL? If so, would you recommend them?

I had dinner at the Hunter's Grill and it was good food, but I had expected more. It was advertised as a buffet with carved meats, but the only thing they offered that was carved was ham. They had some lovely starters like pate and salads, all rather good French food, as well as a decent selection of main dishes and desserts. But I would have loved food that was more appropriate to the theme. What was fun, however, was that Buffallo Bill came to visit tables.

I have lots of pictures of the buffet and meant to post those on the review thread for the restaurant. Should get my act together and do that soon. Will let you know once it is up.
