Sequoia Lodge and the back entrance question

We are staying there next month, now if i'm right then the entrance on the lake side of the hotel is the rear entrance? i'm not sure how long it takes to walk from the front entrance to the parks but from the back way it seems a short walk up through the Disney village, the main issue we have is our son is in a specialised wheelchair and hopefully they will have a lift or no stairs at the back entrance to SL.

There are stairs, but I'm fairly certain there is also a lift down to the back entrance, but it has been a while since I've stayed there. I'm sure there has to be one anyway, so that everyone can use that entrance.

There is a lift near the rear entrance. We've not stayed there yet so I'm not sure what the distance is with regards to rooms but we had a look round the sequoia during our last trip and entered through the lake side entrance and went up to the bar and shop. Kids insisted on coming down in the lift!

There is a lift that goes up to the redwood bar on the 1st floor. If you go through the back entrance, walk directly through the middle (between the two restaurants and past the toilet), then turn left you'll see it in the right hand side corner. Then you can get to reception and the other lifts that take you to all the other floors. :)

Great stuff thanks guys, hopefully it will be easy for us, I do know we are staying in the main building as we have an adapted room booked and also a standard room as we have alot of family going, so use of the back entrance is a must for us, we did walk past it last time on a walk around the lake but didn't go in.

Does anyone know who to contact there about possibly getting something special done for our son? some here may know or not but our boy is 5 years old and unfortunately has a terminal condition, he was born very disabled and we were told he wouldn't live past 3 years, so he's done great to get to 5, but I do fear that this could well be his last trip to Disney Paris, although I hope to God it isn't. It would be nice to have something extra special done for him if at all possible, any ideas or tips?

If it's your son's birthday then make sure you tell Disney this... when they knew it was my 24th, they upgraded the room type and put a few bits around the room. It was a really nice start. :)

We stayed in Sequoia Lodge in 2008 and we had our disabled nephew with us. The hotel was amazing, they gave us the rooms nearest the reception and we all had our breakfast in the redwood bar so we didn't have to struggle with all the scrum in the morning, that was a godsend as there was only about 6 other people using it so it felt very special! The only downside is there is only 1 lift in the reception which can be a bit of a pain at busier times but not too bad.
I really hope your stay at Sequoia is as good as ours was.

Thats one of things worrying me, the scrum for breakfast, what is the Redwood Bar? can anybody use it for breakfast? I have heard of them giving priority at breakfast to people in our position which would help alot, our Owen doesn't like to be sat still in his chair in very busy places for too long. There are 7 of us in our party so i'm hoping breakfast and meal times won't be a real hassle, last two times we went we stayed in the Disneyland Hotel and ate in Inventions which was great but could get busy at times.

The Redwood bar is upstairs next to reception. Everyone else eats in the restaurants downstairs. It's a really lovely place to have breakfast, don't worry about crowds-I think the most we saw in there was about 10 other guests and its a really big bar.
There were 8 in our party and we all ate breakfast together so I wouldn't think they would split up your party.
I read your pre trip report and Owen sound like an amazing little boy- I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Owen is an amazing boy, he is our whole world and everyone that meets him just falls in love with him!

I sent an email to DLP about the possibility of maybe doing something special for him while we are there, they replied today and said that my email had touched their whole special needs team and they will do something for Owen, or words to that effect! So nice of them to do things to make an occasion like this even better!

So excited now, only 6 weeks away, just the mention of Disney gets Owen into giggles!

Ah that's lovely. Wishing you all, especially Owen the most wonderful trip sprinkled with quadruple helpings of pixie dust! :wizard:
