September...what's it like

I just got my flight reservations so I WILL be in Disney Sep 11-16!!! I'm very excited- it's my college graduation present, so this will be the first time in the parks during a non-peak season. As a student, my only options for visiting Disney have been the summer, spring break, and the holidays. So I'm so excited to finally go during a slower time of the year.

We will be there the 14-21! We have went every Sept since 2010 and love it. We have been in Dec (before Christmas), and Sept was much less crowded. The longest we wait for rides is maybe 30-40 minutes (and that is only if it's afternoon). It is hot and humid, but we usually take a break midday and go swim (or nap if I get my way).

In terms of crowds, I felt like we still needed to do rope drop and have a good plan for MK. Most of the other parks weren't too bad though.

Lots of walk on rides. Our longest waits were 20-30 minutes and that was to meet characters. It was hot some days and rainy others. It got cool at night. Free dining had the restaurants full.

My wife and I will be there Sept. 10 through 20 for our first-ever September trip. We're pretty excited.

I hope you both have a wonderful time! We always go this time of year. I think probably the only other time I would go is late January/early February at the second lowest times. I am ALL about low crowds. I hate the heat but would rather be a bit hot than wait in line! I hope you got free dining!

Hi! We love September. Yes, it is still very warm and humid, but it is a little better than June- August IMHO. There may be some rain but if you check monthly averages, it is no worse than the rest of the summer for average monthly rainfall. I found the evenings to be quite pleasant. The biggest benefit to me was the low crowds. We did rope drop but I didn't feel like it was required. We walked on many big rides and never had to wait long.

We will be at POR Sept 27- Oct 3rd! First time at PO ! Very excited!:cool1:

We always go in September. I agree with another poster, late in September seems a bit cool at night. Not jacket weather cool, but swimming was a bit cool at times. There have been years where it was insanely hot and then the next week a cool front moved in. Last year was the first time we experienced significant rain in September. One whole day was mostly rain and a couple others were pretty wet too. The end of our trip was dry though. We had just gotten lucky in the past, I guess. :cheer2: So really, I think it's hard to so say what it will definitely be like. Could be crazy hot, or it might not be too bad. We love the crowd levels in September though. We've never had to wait too long for any ride.

We won't be getting free dining since we rented DVC points for AKL. Our savings on the resort, however, is greater than the savings we'd have if we got free dining.

Rack rate for our villa during that time is $315 a night, or $3,150, plus tax, for our stay. By renting points we got the same room for $1,287, or a nearly 60 percent savings.

We're paying out-of-pocket for dining, which we estimate will come to about $1,000 for the entire stay. This includes a TS every night, alcohol, snacks and gorging ourselves stupid at the Food & Wine Festival.

BUT, we might head back to WDW in September or October of next year; and if that happens, we'll aim for free dining.

I've been early Sept.. and late Sept. The weather was beautiful both times. Early Sept uncrowded, late Sept. attendance was noticeably on the rise, but still not crowded.

We have went Labor day week several times and crowds have picked up each year we have went but it is still not as crowded as it was when we went in December and October. It is sweaty hot though, misting fan and restaurant breaks are helpful. I really like going in September except the hot weather.

I think people see September and automatically think...hurricane season! The funny thing is I didn't think about that at all..lol....I am definitely a go with the flow type and I love the hot weather so that doesn't bother me at all.

I think that a lot of people think of September as when weather starts to get cooler, which is definitely the case in places like the Midwest and New England, so in that case I think people who haven't been to WDW in September need to realize that September is still hot in Florida.

We go often in September, but after this year, we may change our plans (just because we are so tired of the "Fall" theming from Sept. 1 all the way through Oct. 31) But if you enjoy the Fall theming and Halloween, September is a great time to go.

Have always found the weather very agreeable and not overly hot or rainy.

The best thing is the smaller crowds... the worst thing... LOVE BUG SEASON!!

Hi...I will be in WDW from Sept 8-12 2014. Normally we go in the summer or Thanksgiving/Christmas time. I was wondering what its normally like at that time in September. Does the parks still need to be toured the same way they do in July, you know up at dawn for rope drop...lol...and then go,go,go. I was wondering if at that time you can get a little later start and still be OK....I am assuming that there is never a problem with park closure due to crowd levels like we see at Christmas and the 4th of July.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

HOT. Crowds aren't too bad, but it's exhausting from the heat, and I'm from the south.

Last September we went from 20-26 and it was by far the best time ever! Weather was perfect, crowds were non existent, at one point I remember we had to ask someone if AK was closing because no one was around...weird. At MK we rode splash mountain at least 6 times back to back looking for a hidden Mickey because there wasn't a line!!!

I LOVE September. I've been a few times during Labor Day week. Last year was, by far, the most crowded during that time that I've seen, but nothing close to actual summer or holiday levels...not even close. I will say that it seemed to be the NOJ crowd at Disney, and RTU crowd at Universal that made it seem crowded the weekend of the events.

We did have a lot of rain this last time so I stayed cold. I'm very cold natured and LOVE hot weather.....and yes, I'm from the south so I'm used to hot and humid. However, last year was the first time I've bought a sweatshirt because I didn't pack one.

We're going September 5-15, and from what I've read and crowd calendars, it should be even less crowded.

Great it's my favoring time to go . Low crowds and it's decorated for fall/Halloween . Still hot and humid but not as bad mid summer this is the 4th year in a row going in Sept . Plus they have great deals hotel discounts or free dining on certain dates!

Thank you all for the replies. I am really looking forward to the trip. It will be nice to be able to sleep in a little but who am I kidding, knowing me being in Disney I'll be up earlier than I am at home...lol

Ha! Me too! I cannot sleep in at Disney! I can go to bed early from sheer exhaustion after a day in the park, but I HAVE to get up early and be there at the park! :goodvibes
