Just wondering if anyone can tell me what their past weather experiences have been during the first couple weeks of September in WDW? :umbrella:

My husaband compared it to vacationing on the surface of the sun. It is incredibly hot. My full face of make-up would usually be melted off by about 10:30 a.m. It rained a couple of the afternoons we were there. But it didn't really cool anything off, it just made it feel like you were walking around in a sauna. We still managed to have fun, but be prepared for the heat and make sure you drink a lot of water.

go in your shower turn it on hot, shut the door. then walk in there after 10 minutes. thats florida in aug and sept.

oh well...I was hoping it would be a little less humid than mid summer...thanks for the warnings. We'll have fun anyhow :)

I didn't think it was that bad! Granted, it's hot, but it's not awful! It's all about ducking into gift shops for the A/C and drinking LOTS of water, and last and most importantly, take it easy!

We're going Aug 31-Sept 6! Honestly, because crowds are so low, September is our month to go

Crowd levels are fantastic but it is SUPER hot/humid (like don't expect your wet clothes/bathing suits to dry humid). However, we continue to go back every Sept because the low crowds mean that you are quickly back in the AC. Plan to bring ponchos. It typically rains in the late afternoons most days. The storms don't usually last too long but you will get DRENCHED if you don't have a poncho.

Are early mornings and nights cooler on the average or still very hot and humid?

Not really. Let's put it this way, you'll never need capris, jeans, sweatshirts, anything long-sleeved. It's REALLY hot. Like by the time you walk to the bus stop you are sweating hot! Like you need at least two outfits per day hot.

It is still summer hot in Florida but not as crowded luckily...:cool1:

Hot enough you may want to think of changing clothes in the afternoons if you go back to your hotel and think of doing laundry there so you have enough clean clothes with you.

You can get some strong thunderstorms but you do not want to get drenched as it is so humid you just stay wet and drippy all day.

We like Sept even though we know it is hot, it is one of our favorite times to go. Just keep your eye on hurricanes and where they are headed as the time nears and keep positive thoughts they go elsewhere......:thumbsup2

We're going the last week in September, so I'm hoping the heat tempers off just a little bit by that point when it's closer to October. I can deal with the rain, but it'd be nice to not soak through my tanks lol

Augh! Not us -- we are going the first week. I thought it would be hot but not quite so intense.

I'm feeling a bit depressed about this -- I can handle heat, even 100 degrees or more as long as it is dry . . . but very hot and humid is a challenge. I am so hopeful it won't make our trip a miserable one.

It is just my husband and me, so at least we can take it slow and easy.

Any tips for keeping cool appreciated! Aside from drinking a lot of water and going into air conditioned spaces as often as possible, any other suggestions?

LOL Other then last year, ( 2007) I thought the weather was hot but comfortable. I agree though that long pants, sweat shirts probably won't be needed, but light weight capris were comfortable. We didn't find the humidity too awful or umbareable.

We were there at the beginning of Oct. last year, when it was still extremely hot. My older parents were along on this trip, and my Mom was not drinking enough water, on day in Epcot, and the heat took it's toll on her. Once we got her a beverage and sat in the shade awhile...she was fine. So I agree, stay hydrated.

But overall, the heat did not bother DH and I too much...and I loved the fact that I did not have to pack any cool weather clothes. That in itself made by suitcases much lighter and allowed for more room for souveniers. I also liked the early mornings and late evenings, since it was very comfortable with shorts and Tshirts....no hauling a jacket around. And I loved those midnight swims.....so relaxing....right before bed!!

This year DH and I will be there from 9-20 to 9-28.....anyone else going at that time????? We will have 2 full days at the F&W...can't wait!!

The reports on low crowds are very encouraging to hear. I think that within itself will make the heat more bearable. It always seems even hotter when sandwiched in a huge crowd.:goodvibes

everyone says crowds are low in sept. but it free dinning are they still lower?
September is a less busy time of year to go, expecially compared to Summer break and holidays such as Christmas, Easter and the 4th of July. But, will it be "dead" or "empty?" No, it won't, in my opinion. Last year before we went in September (we were there the 14th through the 22nd) I read all of the posts about how September is the slowest time and the parks would be empty. Well, we had a harsh awakening when we got there, because the parks were neither empty nor dead. We went expecting very low crowds and I would say that we found mostly medium-ish crowds. We still had a very good time, but we got to the parks early and really utilized FastPasses. On the first Saturday that we were there it was 108 degrees in the Magic Kingdom and the headliner attractions had at least a one hour wait.

I think the real issue is that there just aren't too many very slow times at WDW anymore. The Disney marketing geniuses have come up with all kinds of promotions and deals to get people in the parks all year round. Free Dining is probably the best marketing ploy that they have come up with in years and that can be proved by the fact that September attendance seems to go up with every year that free dining is offered. Bottom line, the free dining secret is out.

I think everybody can still have a good time, in regards to crowd levels, if you just plan ahead and remember, September crowds are still better than peak season crowds.

Thanks to everyone who posted "hot but hopeful" additions here -- I love the thought of a late night swim, and since I'll be at AKL the pool is open 24/7.

Yesterday: Husband promoted, which is great, and I am so proud. However, he can no longer get time off for our vacation. Words can't express our disappointment. Bummed big time.

Heat? Good grief! I can't believe I was making such a big deal out of it. We'd take the heat it in a heartbeat if we could have our time together back. Don't sweat the small stuff, as they say.

Okay -- onward and upward. I keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason. I am hoping to go with our youngest daughter (23) instead, which of course would also be wonderful. She's checking to see if she can get off work at this late date.

I am keeping my fingers crossed . . . will everyone keep positive thoughts out there? I want that swim!

the weather in september isn't as bad as some are making it out to be. I grew up in south florida and it was typically in the 80's high 70's at times. only thing to worry about is the chance of a hurricane.
