I'll be visiting California and Disneyland for the first time this september, and will be staying in Anaheim from Tuesday 1st- Monday 7th Sep and as this is the weekend Labor day falls on was looking for some advice on which days would be best to do the parks.
We will be purchasing So Cal city passes which we will be using at Universal on tuesday 15th september so cannot use them at Disney before wednesday 2nd (hope i'm still making sense) so between the wednesday - sunday which days would be best for park visits?
I was thinking of spending most of the thursday (3rd sep) in the Disneyland Park and the Saturday (5th sep) from early morning in DCA then the sunday maybe popping to both parks to just have a last walk around, watch and parades/shows we enjoyed. Does this sound like a good plan? what kind of crowd levels can i expect? queing times?

The Disneyland half marathon is the 4-6th, so I wouldnt recommend going then. It will be crowded!

We are heading down the 14th thru 18th probably. I would recommend going on Tuesdays and Wednesdays if possible. When we went last September, those were the least crowded days.

Is it possible to push your days back a little? California schools are all back in session the Tues. after Labor Day. Any time after that the parks will be less crowded. You might run into people going one last time that last week before school starts again.

We went the week after Labor Day in 2007 and it was fabulous! There were really low crowds and wait times were really small. I think the longest we waited was for ToT and that was 15 minutes - there was only one elevator running. We also saw tons of characters out and about. Most of the rides we just walked right on. Fast Passes weren't even being issued.

Unfortunately we can't change the dates as we are coming from the UK and already have our flights booked and hotel for Anaheim which can't be changed without paying more money.
I wanted to go before Labor day as I know after that things get closed for refurb and things and the entertainment isn't everyday

Just to be prepared for very hot temps and utilize FP and early entry as much as you can! It won't be as bad as a busy summer day, but fairly crowded on the weekend. Any weekday is likely to be good. It's the heat that can take a toll. You get tuckered out pretty quick when it's in the 90's - which early Sept usually is. That said, it will still be a fun trip, you'll be at Disneyland! :thumbsup2

Thank you :)
We will get one early entry day with the passes we will get and if my decisions stay the same will use it on the thursday when we plan to spend the day at Disneyland park, hoping the Labor day weekend crowds won't have arrived yet (I don't really know if Labor Day wkend is a very busy holiday as im in the UK) what kind of que times can we expect for that day?

I actually planned the trip for september due to the heat, I wanted to make sure we would be there when it was hot enough to sunbath/use the pool and july/august was a no no because its our school holidays and hikes flight prices. I went to WDW Orlando in september before and it was very very hot & humid then so thankfully I have some kind of idea what it will be like treaking around the parks in the heat.

Yikes, I'm going on Sept 5th for my birthday and I just realized that's Labor Day weekend! Everybody will be there celebrating with me! Sept 9th is the Haunted Mansion special event so that might draw a few more crowds also. Looks like we better be prepared for some long lines!

On that Saturday, DL's regular opening time will be 8:00am and DCA's regular opening time will be 10:00am.

I would recommend starting your Saturday at DL. :thumbsup2

I would arrive at the DL/DCA entrance area at 7:30 to enter DL at 8:00am. That Saturday will be a Magic Morning, so Fantasyland and Tomorrowland will already have lines/queues at 8:00; I would avoid FL and TL, and visit the left side of DL. Then around 10:00am I would walk over to DCA.

Compared to WDW, parkhopping is much easier at DLR. It literally takes just a minute or two to walk between DL and DCA.

HTH :earsboy:
