September Rehabs

When I clicked the link at the top of the board for park hours (then I realized that they were not yet released for September) it did show various rehabs. For example, it shows Gadget down while we will be there. Has Disney already announced these rehabs for September? I just did not know if this was an issue with my computer because hours are not yet released or if this was accurate.
Thank you in advance!

It's because that is showing last year's schedule. We won't know until July what September begins to truly look like as the actual DL calendar only goes out a couple months.

If you are going prior to September 16th (start of Halloween season) then expect HM to be down from around Labor Day until 9/16, and Space Mt will be down around 9/14-15 to add the Halloween overlays.

Also, expect Matterhorn to be down this fall for a MAJOR overhaul - retracking and new cars. I would not be surprised if it is down for 6 months, similar to the current Splash overhaul.

Why, should this be expected?

I got this from an attractions CM last night. We knew it was going down for new cars for some time, but she told me they were redoing the track (a common thing for roller coasters - basically replacing the worn bits with new ones, not creating a new ride) and fixing some of the effects.

She said it will be going down for a while at the end of the summer. I expect it to be down for a while if they are redoing the track - that is not an easy process.

It would be folly to plan around this rumor.

Just like people getting excited over the one in this post Also confirmed from an apparent attraction CM. Who also mentioned re-tracking.

Like all rumors Ski I am with you on this. On the one hand all of us enjoy a good, juicy rumor debate for days and days and sometimes weeks. The quality of the rumor depends on the source.

On the other hand we need to balance the rumor quality with the need for planning and whether to account for the rumor when choosing dates to visit.

All of us regularly tell people on this forum to hold their 2012 trips until after CarsLand is done in June 2012. I may be wrong but I do not think Disney has said anything about CarsLand in June 2012. Usually they just say "2012". We fill in the blanks with our knowledge that Disney always tries to get their best stuff ready for summer and tell everyone June 2012. Much like the current Little Mermaid ride work. When ST2 was announced Disney specifically said they wanted to have it back by May/June 2011. So that was a little more reliable. But LM was always "2011".

Well, we know there will be new cars at least! I mean, we have photographic proof of that one. And I would never plan around just one ride being down anyway - there is always going to be something down for rehab/refurb.

I heard this rumor a few months ago that F! would go down for a rehab. I couldn't find anything on the net about it which made me question it. It wasn't from WDI or TDA I heard it from a guest services CM. So instead of putting that F! would be down from late April into May, I waited. I didn't want to cause and uproar based on an non instantiated statement from a random CM. But I waited and sure enough the calendar has F! drop off the schedule for the last week of April while RDCT continued. So at that point, confirmed by the official entertainment schedule I shared that it would be down for a while.

so the halloween season begins around sept 15/16?

It's on the DL site for 9-16 that is a Friday. It's been on the site for many months now. So given that it was so simple to decide on that date without knowing what crowd trends would be, I could see that date changing. But why they can post that date but not when the Holiday Season or Summer season starts????

Then you probably saw the people on this forum freaking out that F! would be on refurb the entire month of May.

I think if I was you I would have shared the rumor but added that it was rumor and not to plan for it. What is this forum for if not for rumors! :goodvibes

I mentioned it somewhere. Not it's own thread in an existing one where someone was planning their days.

Besides everytime I start a thread mentioning a rumor, it gets moved to the community room a couple hours later. No doubt like you said, speculating on juicy rumors is fun.
