I've been to Orlando in November last year and in March/April in 2005 and remember that time of year being very busy.

What is September like for crowds and weather? Will all the water parks be open? I'm Planning on going the last two weeks of September at the moment.

If anyone could advise me on whether this is the best time to go, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Tom

welcome to the boards Tom :)

ive never been in the early part of the year but i have been later on...the parks are generally very quiet :thumbsup2 and the weather is still nice and warm (you may need a jumper at night tho)

Hi Tom,

March/April is when we go next in 2008 - although we are restricted to Easter holidays, that is the only problem going this time if you can miss Easter then it's the better time to go.
The weather will be cooler and more suited to touring the parks.

So it could depend on what dates you are planning on going?

September overall will probably be quieter but it will be hotter then with temps. probably still in the 90s, the Water Parks will definitely be open.

September all the way for me. The crowds are very light in the week and it's still very hot, the water parks are still open.

We just did something away from the parks at weekends at it worked for us!

Hi Tom and welcome :wave2:

Disney tends to close its water parks between October and March (and then only one at a time, so there should always be one open whatever time of year you choose to go).

September can be hot and muggy with plenty of rain, but is one of the best times to go for low crowd levels. I've long thought the second half of September would be a great time to go, especially now that the International Food and Wine Festival at Epcot has been extended and starts mid September.

Late March/early April should be perfect weather-wise and crowd-wise too, as long as you're able to avoid Easter and Spring Break.

Never been during March/April but have been twice in September (both times just after labor day). September is lovely, both for weather and (lack of) crowds. The only real problem is that it;s smack bang int hemiddle of hurricane season but that's never put me off going before. I can't wait until our kids have finished school and we can go back to visiting in September.

Just to expand further on my earlier post Tom.

You will find most 'public holiday' periods very busy in Orlando, Easter/Summer Holidays etc
Therefore if you are able to it is advisable avoiding these busier times, ideally we all want nice sunny weather (not too hot) and low crowds too.
It's getting the balance just right between the 2 that can be hard work.

We are restricted to school holidays as my wife is a teacher and son is at school, hence the last 2 years we have been in August - however whilst I was fairly okay they both really struggled in the oppressive summer heat.

To be honest we would prefer not to be going at Easter time next year but we do not have much choice really.

March/April v. September is an interesting comparison, do you go for ideal weather but higher crowds (Easter), or hotter weather and lighter crowds (September).
If you have young children then they may possibly find touring the parks more difficult in the heat perhaps - I am making things more complicated here aren't I ?

The dates you are planning on going in March/April are the key to your answer I feel.

I've been in September 3 times now and everytime was good for crowd levels and the weather was warm and slightly wet. Like wilma said though it peak hurricane season though so there is always a small chance you have a bad day or two
