Welcome :wave2:

Sounds like a fantastic trip! A wedding in Canada is always a great excuse for a Disney trip :thumbsup2

Oh TulipsNZ I'm fairly sure I know you as I recognize your itinerary ;) Welcome and happy planning

Welcome TulipsNZ. Lovely to have another kiwi on the forums.
Such a late invite for an overseas wedding. It is wonderful that you have been able to jump at the opportunity anyway and pull together a trip.

I hope you're not being kept awake also by the crazy weather outside. I'm up in Auckland and it's some of the loudest winds that I've heard in a long time.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been quieter than usual (not that I'm a prolific poster, lol), but I am still lurking!

I had a bit of a health scare recently. I had a planned thyroid surgery which ended up a bit more than was expected. Turns out the rotten thing was deeper into my chest than was originally thought so I ended up with a sternotomy. Good news is it was benign, thank goodness. So now I am at home for the next 5 weeks recovering. Cabin fever is setting in - the only thing keeping me going is trip planning.

As soon as my pathology results came back clear I paid in full for our WDW portion of our trip. Priorities, right?

84 days and counting!

Thanks for the great reading,

Liz

Sorry to hear about your health scare, but glad you're ok now :thumbsup2

Don't get me started on priorities... When my gall bladder flared up and there was talk of surgery, my very first thought was 'oh, this is going to wreak havoc with my training schedule'. Then when I had the surgery all I was concerned about was when I could start training again :lmao: All for the love of Disney (or RunDisney in this case)!

My MIL had gallbladder surgery last year, not much fun is it? Glad you're ok now.

As long as we can still do Disney what's a redundant body part in the scheme of things? There's those darn priorities again ;-)

It seems everyone is having their gall bladders out recently! The first week was pretty tough, but after that it improved dramatically, and I was able to start running again after 2 weeks. Doing much better without it :goodvibes

LizfromOz, great to see you back on the boards!

Sorry to hear you had a health scare, but great to hear that all has turned out fine. :-)

Weren't the winds crazy! Yes very late invite, the groom is a kiwi and his mum has to travel that weekend to Canada for another reason suddenly, since she has to go and they don't have heaps of money they decided to bring the wedding forward.

Thanks, it's great to be back. Looks like all your planning is coming along nicely.

Yes, really nicely.

I'm getting down to the last bookings as well as some spending money, but I kind of wish time would slow down a little bit and give me more of a chance to save. This year seems to just be rushing by. :)

Super crazy. I was up at midnight watching the trees outside my son's bedroom and wondering if I should go into his room and move him. I didn't and am so grateful he's okay. Seeing the destruction around Auckland today and trees down at every corner, I realise in retrospect I should have moved him.

What a nice idea to bring the wedding forward for the mum. It's easy to forgive the short notice in cases like that :thumbsup2

I guess you may as well add me to the list (I too was part of the fantastic 2011 Sep/Oct group) because I may or may not be doing DL when we are in the U.S. for our brief & tight budget (as we have our 6.5 week UK/Europe trip in Dec/Jan) September trip.

We fly up to LA, from Wellington via Brisbane with Virgin, on 24 Sep, spend two nights in the Yucca Valley for a family wedding (the sole reason for this whirlwind trip), spend one night in Hollywood and go to Dodger game, followed by two nights in Buena Park to do Knott's Berry Farm (as our girls have never been there) as well as maybe a day at DL or DCA or preferably, if schedules permit, an evening at Mickey's Halloween party. So then ,just 5 nights after we arrive, we fly back home on September 28th via Brisbane again! It sounds exhausting to me just reading it :scared1: The things we do for family...

Wow, that is a wirlwind trip! But, on the flipside, 6.5 weeks in Europe! I'm so jealous. I've just been mentally planning a similar length trip to Europe which I figure will take me 2 1/2 years to save for. :sad2:
What country are you spending Xmas in?
