And one day I will stop changing our trip, this is so much harder than I thought.
So new plan, fly into LAX drive to LEGOLAND, hope the park is still open for the waterpark, my son desperately wants to do the Chima waterpark but it's only open on weekends and I am not going back the following weekend just for the waterpark. Do the LEGOLAND park on the 22nd, stay at the LEGOLAND hotel again that night, we weren't going to do this but my husband is loathe to move for one night unless it's for a great reason, I've shown him options but he does not like them on a cost vs benefit scale. The next day do San Diego zoo, then drive back to Anaheim and book in to our hotel, the next 2 days are Disney designated with the following morning off to do a Pumpkin patch style Halloween relaxed tiki tour morning. We are hoping to get tickets to MHP that evening. The following two days are designated Disney and we fly back to NZ the evening of the 28th. Crazy crazy busy esp after a whirlwind World tour but still so excited!

Thanks for sharing HelloSue!

I've been thrown into a bit of a tiz, as those dates are not what I was expecting. I was adamant that there wouldn't be a party during my 2 night stay, but it turns out that there is going to be one on the night of Monday 6th. Now I'm stuck with what to do.

a) Keep my current plans which are to spend Sunday night in Disneyland doing the Fantasmic Dessert Package and watching the fireworks. Monday night in California Adventure doing WOC package. Getting to bed by a decent hour (approx 10) for our 4:30am wake up the next morning (shuttle picking us up at 5:20).

b) Spend Sunday night in California Adventure doing WOC Package (It's Gay Days in this park on the Sunday, so it will be busy). Go to the Halloween Party on Monday. Get to bed really late. Will be super tired on the flight, but at least where heading to Aulani to relax for 3 nights.

Feeling very torn. I LOVED MNSSHP at Disneyworld, but I understand that the Disneyland one is different an much busier. While we enjoyed doing big ticket rides multiple time without wait, and never queuing for candy at MNSSHP, I've been told not to expect this at MHP. Has anyone been to one of the Disneyland parties and can tell me what they were able to achieve during the evening? This will certainly help me decide.

By the way, I realise I'm probably months behind in updating the original post. Will get on to it asap. :)

We did the Halloween party in 2012. This was during the Gay Days weekend as well. We had a fantastic time, but it was crazy, crazy crowded! We only went on a couple of rides (BTMRR and Space Mountain - back then you could use your FP after your allotted time, aaah the good old days) but the standby lines were very, very long.

Having said that, the atmosphere was incredible. The attention to detail for some of the costumes was amazing, and everyone seemed to be having fun.

There were numerous candy stations set out thru the park, the queues looked long but moved very quickly. My girls ended up with way too much candy and insisted on bringing it home with us to Australia.

The crowd didn't bother me too much because we had already spent a few days in the parks, but I'm not sure I would do it again. I'm glad we were able to experience it, but it's not worth it, in my opinion, if your aim is to go on a lot of rides because I'm not sure this would be possible.

Hope this helps,

Liz

Hmm tough call. Is seeing F! a high priority for you? If so, the Sunday night will be the only chance you get to see it. They don't do it on party nights. I wouldn't worry about being tired the day after. Waking up at 4:30am, you'll be tired anyway, and if you're tired enough, you might be able to get some sleep on the plane.

There's a Halloween superthread over on the Disneyland board that may have some helpful information for you to figure out whether it's something you want to do or not.

Personally, if I had the opportunity to go to a MHP I'd jump at it (Halloween time will start while I'm there, but I'm a couple of weeks early for the parties), but I was hanging out to go to one, and would LOVE to play dress ups in the parks :goodvibes I wouldn't care about rides or trick or treating, and would be happy just being there and taking in the atmosphere. It sounds like you could take it or leave it at the moment, and that being the case, I would probably stick with your original plans. Do be aware though, that DCA will get extra busy on party nights with people hopping from DL once it closes for the party.

I just added Travel Mum and TulipsNZ to the first post. Am I missing anyone else?

Also I noticed that WAMumof4 doesn't have long to go!

We're all getting closer now people :cool1: pixiedust:

That's the main thing I'm worried about missing out on if I don't go. I've read that the MHP is better than MNSSHP when it comes to people watching. This is because many more of the attendees are locals they put more effort into their costumes.
It was a bit like that at the Halloween Party on the Disney Fantasy. The costumes were the most amazing I'd ever seen and DH and I could of stood for hours and people watched.
:maleficen

Yeah, I'm so desperate to escape the crowds, but I'm beginning to realise that they are simply going to be unavoidable.

I'm really stuck on this decision. It's once of the trickiest I've had to date. And here I was this morning thinking all my decision making was over.
First world problems

I think I'm going to type up the 2-day plans that I am deciding between and post them here and on the Disneyland board. I need help making my mind up. DH has been no help. :rolleyes2

I presume you have looked at the superthread about the MHP's? I looked got stuck there and HAD to go.

Life has been crazy! I've changed part of our trip surprise surprise and have spent today figuring out 9 days of it but I still couldn't pull the trigger :confused3 to actually book any of it except for the moto GP tickets in England so I am committed to that part will update when I actually book the rest ;)

So any updates, I know I'm in first timer super excited mode but I want to share everyones excitement

2014 Mickey’s Halloween Party

General ticket sales start on July 30, 2014. Annual Passholders can purchase special pre-sale tickets for select dates beginning July 16, 2014 :hmghost:

Everyone has an opinion about crowds.... But, has anyone been to DLR Late Oct - Early Nov? Its not going to change anything but good to be prepared.
We are not planning on going on the weekend and have subscribed to Touring Plans but hear they're not that reliable. Your opinions welcome. :confused3

Not sure if you're aware, but DLR has a reduced entertainment schedule at that time of year. F! and the fireworks will only be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Just something to keep in mind if you're not planning to include any weekends in your stay.

I haven't been at that time of year, so not sure about crowds.

Mickey's Halloween Party Tickets went on Sale today for Annual Passport Holders - But! they have changed prices:sad: .....
Now on the phone to Disney to purchase tickets as I have purchased an Annual Passport but it is not activated and told that I am unable to pre-purchase Halloween Party Tickets :( (although told previously by 2 Operators that I could):confused3
Will have to wait until July 31 to buy on general public release!

How annoying!

I have no choice but to wait for the end of the month.
I'm hoping there will be plenty of tickets still available since I've already bought my costume.
