Sorry, another question from me looking for some flights advice (I'm looking at you, Wayne ;)).

We're aiming to go next year, roughly last week in September, first week in October although we can go anytime in September/October (or anytime really but this gives us time to save!). Now I know flights will be released in November for this time but I'm wondering when others who go September/October tend to book their flights?

When we went in May 2010 we booked not long after release in July 2009 and got a fab price but that doesn't seem to be the case so much these days. I'm wondering if it might be better to wait for the sales which usually happen in January? Obviously if I see a price we're happy with then I'll book it but just wondered what those with previous experience had found.

A lot of people swear by booking at the 11 month mark when the flights are released but I've never found a really good price at that point. When we went in May last year I booked in the January sale, and when we went in November I booked in the late August sale. I set myself a flight budget (I won't pay more than £500, ever) and check sky scanner and M+M prices often incase a good deal shows up.

Thanks Ben, I'll be ready when prices are released but wasn't sure if waiting for a sale would be better. I know it's a how long is a piece of string type of question but I like to be prepared. My absolutely maximum budget is £600 each and going from Glasgow preferably looks like it could be pushing it.

If we can't get anything under £600 then we won't be going :(

Last year there was a sale at the end of June 1st week of July for september flights and also oct nov. I'm hoping this will happen again this year.
I personally wouldn't book 11 months out

Thanks, Netty. I don't know if my nerves could cope with waiting until July! But I guess it will depend on prices :goodvibes

We're going in mid-october next year and will be simply watching the flights for a sale, we can happily leave it right up to the end of july before we get that "we have to book now" feeling, so chances of a good deal are excellent :goodvibes

I'm watching Thomson quite closely at the moment.... just checked them out as they've released their october '13 flights, raised a thread here as i've never used them before, but their pricing is below BA and Virgin which is always a good start!

We're going sept 21st next year, and we booked a few weeks ago. Had been waiting for prices to come out, watched them for a few weeks, then they suddenly dropped a few hundred quid so we just went for it and booked. We were far too excited to wait!!
