September/October 2013 check in

:cool1: checked into our Cruise yesterday and booked our excursions, haven't booked any for Cabo San Lucas nothing appeals. It's all feeling a bit more real :)
It was strange being able to pick the earliest port time and choosing not to but I figure 14 days should be enough time to explore the ship. I don't want to leave the VGC before I have to not even for a Disney ship :rotfl2:

Hire car is now booked for Hawaii - 5th trip to Hawaii & we are officially going to take on driving 'on the wrong side of the road' Watch your back locals!! :rotfl: Wish us luck!
Bring on October, Aulani here we come again!

3 months today for us as well.
Currently pondering whether we should stay at a night at the LEGOLAND hotel, as the theming looks so cool. I thought our kids aged 11 & 8 would be too old for LEGOLAND this time around, but they really want to go again ( we went 4 yrs ago, and I really did not like the park but the kids loved it )

Looks like it could be fun.
I uhmmed and aahhed for ages over visiting Legoland Florida, but think I have decided not to. I feel a bit bad as I know my son would LOVE it. I just wish it was easier to get to from WDW.

I just worked out that my cruise excursion window will open while I'm in a very important meeting at work. I pretty much will need to be on my death bed to get out of this meeting and I won't get home until at least 4 hours after bookings have opened up. If I want to stand even a slight chance of getting a Palo reservation and an early check in time, I need to hand control of the bookings over to my DH. My husband is by no means a stupid man, but I'm suddenly feeling very anxious :rotfl:

We're staying there for 2 nights on our way from San Diego to Anaheim. We've booked a premium pirate room. This is the one aspect of the holiday that we've kept secret from the kids. All three love Lego, but my 4.5 ds is Lego mad.

pixiedust: that DH gets it all done correctly!

Thanks Wamumof4 and PIO. I think I might need that pixiedust.
I've never been good at handing over the reigns of control when it comes to my families holidays. My husband prefers to be on a 'need to know only' basis and will at best sign forms if I put them in front of him.

I know he'll be fine, but it would help if I knew what to expect when my bookings open up so I can explain to him what to do and where to go. At present the website won't let me past the main reservation page.

Wamumof4, do you know if it's possible to pick a check-in time without having to do too much more of the online check-in process? Or is picking the check-in time the last thing you do?

Qantas have a free frequent flyer membership promo on at the moment. Just signed the kids up for free :banana::banana: Got to love that...just saved ourselves over $240:cool1:

Unfortunately it's the last thing you do make sure you have already entered everyone's passport details, you also need to complete the where are you going when disembarking how you are paying your on ship charges eg credit card details and sign the dec after you have picked your boarding time.

You may be able to call to update all those details before check in time though don't hold me to that though I just know last year we had Disney transport to the airport after our cruise so they already had those details in.

Thanks. That's useful to know.

i have been sadly remiss in my postings lately. so much planning and running out of time.

our savings are not quite on track, and with the $ tanking, it's added costs to our trip, so i have been frantically squirreling around trying to cut costs without cutting experiences.

:faint::faint::faint::faint::faint:

i thought i had it all sorted out, and then today, i had a call to say 'but what about doing it this way?' spent 2 hours researching options, then had to go back to my original plans, lol. so crazy.

just trying to get my savings on track and spending under control. and we are just under 4 months now. hoping the tax man is good to us this year... i think we will need it :) so happy to see so many of you have your trips and plans on track :)

Isn't that what you already get with the Woolworths rewards? Or is this something different? I did that last year or early this year and it cost nothing.

Dh and I already had them, but the kids didn't. It was a promo deal that came with the qantas red mail email.

11 weeks from now and we'll be sitting at Sydney Airport! :cool1: Well, that might be wishful thinking, we're more likely to be chasing DS3 around Sydney Airport :rotfl2:

In related news, we finally got DS3 (2) a leash, I mean child harness.:rolleyes1 The kid's a runner like nothing I've ever seen. It's at least a Mickey backpack that has an attachable strap. He loves it and thinks it's funny when I pull him back. It was a hard decision for me to make, I've never liked them, but DS3 is a special kind of kid - not naughty, but very inquisitive and very, VERY fast. I'd rather deal with judgemental death stares and keep him safe than always be worrying on our trip.

I got an email yesterday saying that my passport is ready, so that's another thing to mark off the list :cool1: DS3s should arrive next week too and I can finally get our ESTAs done and enter our passport info on our AA booking.

The AUD is making me feel ill :scared1: At least we have paid for most of our trip, but couldn't it have waited to dive until NEXT year?!?!:worried:

Just ignore the looks. You're doing it to keep your child safe - no other reason. Usually the people who judge are the people who have never had kids.

We had a child harness and a leash for my son when he was young (and yes it was literally a leash). It was one of those wound up ones that can stretch out to about 8 metres or you can lock it at a shorter length. It was so we could go for family walks around waterways (lakes, ponds, beaches etc) allowing my son to run ahead of us at times or shorten it when we got near water. Similar with walking around the streets and being near driveways.
Yes it looked a bit silly, but my son is alive, healthy, and seemingly free of any long-term psychological side-effects, so I can live with 'silly'. :)

I must have missed that. My kids got theirs through the Woolies one though. DD lives swiping her card when she buys her own stuff with her pocket money.

Ignore the tut tuts and just smile sweetly (or glare at them, your choice ;) )
