September/October 2013 check in

11 weeks from now and we'll be sitting at Sydney Airport! Well, that might be wishful thinking, we're more likely to be chasing DS3 around Sydney Airport

In related news, we finally got DS3 (2) a leash, I mean child harness. The kid's a runner like nothing I've ever seen. It's at least a Mickey backpack that has an attachable strap. He loves it and thinks it's funny when I pull him back. It was a hard decision for me to make, I've never liked them, but DS3 is a special kind of kid - not naughty, but very inquisitive and very, VERY fast. I'd rather deal with judgemental death stares and keep him safe than always be worrying on our trip.

I got an email yesterday saying that my passport is ready, so that's another thing to mark off the list DS3s should arrive next week too and I can finally get our ESTAs done and enter our passport info on our AA booking.

The AUD is making me feel ill At least we have paid for most of our trip, but couldn't it have waited to dive until NEXT year?!?!

so its 11 weeks today....this time in 11 weeks I will be in my fathers corolla with DH heading to the airport.....oh happy days........

then this time in 11 weeks and 1 hr I will be lined up at the qantas check in smoozing the check in chick with my exciting tales of mickeys house....."where are you off to Aussie karen" she'll say while checking in my 4 bags....."I'm off to DISNEY WORLD" insert squeel...DH then rolls the eyes, shrugs and goes red......this is then repeated ..in order

1. qantas check in
2. oz customs guy
3. lady serving me coffee in terminal
4. hostie greeting us at the door
5. hostie on upper deck of A380
6. hosties off sider on upper deck of A380
7. lady sitting behind us in row 36 (I'm so sorry)
8. kids across aisle in row 33
9. man I chat to while waiting for loo on flight
10. lady I stand behind whilst disembarking flight
11. shuttle man at LAX
12. check in lady at hotel in lax
13. room service delivery man at lax hotel
14. everyone I meet at DLR/CA
15. limo driver to/from lax hotel
16. shuttle man at lax hotel

in 117 days, i will be pulling an australian karen & telling everyone i see and everyone within hearing distance that we are going to disney.

i honestly cannot wait, now that i finally have a fixed plan in place that has passed muster.

and now... to research like hell. cause we will be going to wdw and i have NO STINKING IDEA about how i am going to pull off taking 4 total newbs to wdw for a fun vacation.

oh, and did i mention my old TA left the company, so i have to start over with a new TA??? fun and games, kiddies. fun and games.

How did you change your itinerary? Did you change it for the $ or are members of your party being indecisive again?

with the exception of the a380 business that pretty much sounds like me at the customs/immigration thingy i'm always terrified i'll be mistaken for some drugged up psycho as i'm so excited i'm chatty. if you ever see someone on the customs show, or one of those airline shows dressed in mickey, that'll probably be me

This made me actually LOL (and read it out to my friend so she understands there are more people like me out there in the world). I think I found it so funny because I can actually picture you jumping around telling anybody who will listen and your DH standing by trying to shrink into himself

As for the leash, the thing barely fits DS3, you'll have to find an XL for your DH!

74 until we leave/arrive in the US, but 79 until Disneyland. Then I'll finally be able to speak freely and not have to mentally run through everything before verbalising it. This keeping secrets thing is hard work! I thought I'd blown the Grand Californian one the other day Thankfully though, I checked by mentioning 'the hotel in California Adventure' and DH couldn't even name it - phew! Secret safe!

16-18Sept: DLR at Paradise Peir
18-22Sept: SSR
22-26Sept: 4-night cruise on Dream
26Sept-3Oct: Back to SSR, then home!

There are going to be so many Aussies and Kiwi's in DL and WDW in Sept/Oct I think it will be odd to hear an American accent walking around the parks

I just paid our speedway tickets I am trying to work out which things are going to effect us the most with a dropping $ leaving Disney tickets to last because we all no they will be purchased regardless
I better go pay the limo transfer as well before I forget

so paying off my #2 cruise next week....and its an extra $300 due to the dollar drop.....sad face...oh well, I'll just drown my sorrows with all those yum yum umbrella drinks

esta still to do, but i want to leave it to the week before i fly out

still tossing up whether to do dining plan or just pay OOP....works out roughly the same $$$...

The falling dollar certainly is depressing. Unless people actually take the time to sit down and do the maths, I don't think they realise just how much of a difference each dropping cent makes.

With regards to the dining plan, did you see it has gone up in price again a few days ago. I've spent quite a bit of time doing the maths with the dining plan and it just doesn't seem economical. Especially not if you're like my family and often share or skip desserts if you're getting full. I've prepaid all our meals by buying Disney gift cards. I just to take care now that I don't loose them.

Paying OOP will not lock you in to being at particular places at set times so you're less likely to miss things
