September/October 2009 Dining Reviews - Updated 11/1

Loving all your reports :) I didn't realise you could order food at Mitzners, that's made me very happy :)

I cannot believe those awful rude people, thank goodness a CM was there to sort it out.

:scared1: I can't believe that people can be so rude! What a shame it ruined your enjoyment of the dessert party.
People never cease to amaze me with how rude they can be.

I love ordering food at the lounges for dinner when I don't have a table service meal booked. They have some great appetizer selections.

The next day I was at MGM. I rode Toy Story Mania twice, and then saw Voyage of the Little Mermaid before starting to think about lunch. I had planned on staying all day at the Studios, but I don't like the counter service options there, so I hopped on the next boat to Epcot to get some lunch.

I did debate getting off at the Beach Club, and going to Beaches and Cream, but I wasn't in the mood for burgers or ice cream, and knew I would have tons of options at Epcot.

I settled on Tangerine Cafe, and it really hit the spot.

For my entree I had the lamb wrap, with an extra side of cous cous salad, instead of cous cous and lentil salad.

The wrap was full of lots of lamb, lettuce, onions, and some kind of yogurt sauce. It was really yummy, and I would definatly get it again. It gets an

The cous cous salad,

which I had actually stopped for a dish of on day one, since I didn't think I'd be eating a full meal here this trip, gets an

as well.

It is a lovely refreshing salad, full of chick peas, raisins, mandarin oranges, and spiced very nicely.

For dessert I had baklava, which was fine. I really didn't care about it, and only got it since it was included on the plan. If it was up to me, I would've gotten more cous cous. :laughing:

Tangerine Cafe is my favorite counter service restaurant at Epcot, and I'll definatly be stopping by there sometime next year on at least one of, if not both of, my trips.

I am scared to try the moroccan food but I do like lamb! I have not liked any couscous I have had !! Do they have other sides ??

They have the lentil salad, which I had once a couple of years ago, but didn't care for.

So after my lunch at Tangerine I walked around World Showcase for awhile. At the South Africa booth I tried the seared beef tenderloin with mango bbq sauce and sweet potatoes.

404.jpg

It was a nice piece of beef, not overcooked, and a decent portion. However, the sauce was too overpowering, and the sweet potatoes were nothing special, so this only gets a

That was the only thing I tried at the booths that day. I wish I had tried more, since there were no crowds then, and I should have taken advantage of that.

Wow! You were at WDW the same time I was, and ate at some of the same restaurants, so its fun seeing your pictures and what you thought of the food!

I love your Remy rating system, what a cute idea! :goodvibes

So sorry to hear about the rude people at the Dessert Buffet, its one thing to sneak into the event, quite another to rip off your table name and then claim it was their table. Grrrrrrr!

Thanks for the fun and informative read, can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Ok queen of the signature restaurants, got a question for ya....

We are trying to decide on Citricos (never been), Narcoossee's (never been) or going back to Cali Grill for our anniversary dinner.

Which is the best?

We are already going to Jiko so I just need one more signature.

Thanks hon!

I'd pick Citricos over Narcoossee's. And I'd probably say Citricos for you over CA Grill since you've never been there. Citricos and CA Grill are my two favorites, I'd have a very hard time choosing between them.

How funny that we were there at the same time, and ate at the same places. Maybe we even passed each other in the parks.

They knew what they were doing was wrong, and I wonder what makes them think they could get away with it. Did they honsetly think I wouldn't reclaim my table, or that the CM's would let them stay?

Ok Citrico's it is...can you view MK from there?

I was on my way back to the Studios before 1:00. I would've stayed at Epcot longer, but due to the rest of the day's plans, if I wanted to see Beauty and the Beast, I was going to have to catch the 2:00 showing.

Aside from the show, I also rode Tower of Terror and Rock N' Roller Coaster, before texting my friend who I was meeting up with for dinner that day. I had texted her right after getting off Rock N' Roller Coaster, and she texted me back saying she was in line for Rock N' Roller Coaster.

The friend that I met up with was Cathrynrose, who is another DISer, and I was to have dinner with her and her family.

After they all got off Rock N' Roller Coaster, we rode Tower of Terror, which was the second time I rode it that day, but it's one of my favorite rides, so I didn't mind at all. I really could of cared less what we did that afternoon anyway, since I had already done all my must dos.

We then headed to dinner since we had early reservations, at 4:00, since we had the Fantasmic dinner package.

We were seated pretty quickly, and had an awesome waitress. I was actually a little scared to try this restaurant, since I had read such bad reviews for it, but the service was great, and the food wasn't bad.

The next two pictures are both of my first plate, but no matter how I photographed it, the bread was always covering something, so I had to take two pictures, so you could all see what I ate.

I took a lot on my first plate, because like I said, I was scared to try stuff here, and honestly thought there would only be one or two things I liked if I was lucky. I really worried for no reason.

I had, broccoli slaw, cornbread, Thai pasta salad, bread, green beans, cucumber salad, terriyaki-pineapple chicken, bbq pork, and mashed potatoes.

The broccoli slaw, Thai pasta salad, cucumber salad, terriyaki-pineapple chicken, and bbq pork were all good. Nothing really stood out, but I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the food. The Thai pasta salad was a little spicy, and the bbq pork could have been a little less dried out, but all was good, and all get a;

I thought the mashed potatoes and green beans were both very tasty. They both get an

The cornbread was the only thing I wasn't that keen on, but still, it was edible, and wasn't horrible, so it gets an;

This is my second plate of food;

On this plate I had more mashed potatoes, nut-crusted salmon, macaroni and cheese, tequila chicken, and pasta with red pepper sauce.

The mashed potatoes again get an

The macaroni and cheese gets an;

But everything else only gets an

foodgood.jpg

And here's why; the tequila chicken and the red pepper sauce were both pretty bland. The salmon was good, but the nut crusting was just too salty.

My desserts;

There is Snickers cheesecake, apple cobbler, a fruit tart, a chocolate pecan bar, and some kind of strawberry and banana trifle-type sort of thing.

The cheesecake tasted like cheesecake, and as far as I could tell there wasn't anything Snickers about, but it still tasted pretty good. Everything was actually pretty good, so everything gets an;

So overall, this was a pretty good meal. Though I won't be hurrying back, since I'm not a huge fan of buffets, and actually Boma is the only repeat-buffet for me that is on my list for next year. And next year I want to try Mama Melrose's again anyway, since it's been years since I've eaten there.

After dinner, we (I was still with Cathrynrose and her family,) rode Toy Story Mania, which had an about fifty minute wait, which wasn't too bad, especially since I had such great company in line. And I also came in 2nd place score wise against the four people I played with, only Cathryn's older son got a higher score then me.

We then walked around One Man's Dream before going to get drinks before heading to Fantasmic.

We went to Tune-In Lounge, since that was the only place I could think of to get drinks, and my discount was good there anyway. Cathryn and I both had magical star cocktails, which is a mix of mango and passion fruit liquors, coconut rum, and pineapple juice.

This is a picture of one I had previously since I didn't fuss with my camera then, since the service here was really slow, and I swear it took like half an hour to get the four drinks. (Four including her son's long island iced tea, and a milkshake.)

I am starting to have quite a collection of those little glow cubes now, but it was cool this time because I got one shaped like a star, and everyone I've gotten previous to this has been a regular boring square shaped one.

Fantasmic was great as always, and it was a great night overall.

We have had breakfast at H&V and really enjoyed it butI too have shyed away for dinner due to bad reviews !! If I can get a Fantasmic pkg next year I'm gonna try it !! Thanks for okay review !!

Ohhhhhh I'd love to get one shaped like a star how cool is that!
Loving your reviews and your pictures!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this report!!!:thumbsup2

It was a crazy week and I just finished catching up on your report.

Didn't know that you could order food from the lounges like that, so thank you teaching me something new today :goodvibes

Can't believe how rude people have become :sad2: I'm glad that the CM got involved and took care of it :thumbsup2

Love eating at Tangerine Cafe! Had the sliders combo last time and it was fantastic! Excellent lamb, love the cous cous and the tabbouleh (sp?):thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Glad to hear H&V turned out so well. We haven't been there since probably 2001 or '02. It was not a good experience, so we've never gone back.

I have got to stop in at Tune in Lounge one of these trips! I seem to be missing out on some good drinks!

Can't wait to hear about the pixie dust and PFTS :goodvibes

I don't even remember you whipping out your camera to take a picture. YOu're quick!!! :laughing:

Yes - Tune-In Lounge took 200 years to get a few drinks. Totally ridiculous - and it wasn't even that slammed.

None the less..... here's a momento to remind you of the fabulous 50 minute wait for TSM:

It was good for what it was, I'd say it's comparable to Crystal Palace, but Crystal Palace is a little better in my opinion.

Ohhhhhh I'd love to get one shaped like a star how cool is that!

I love the star shaped one, but I also really love the one I got last year that changes colors.

The lounges are really good for food, I like the flatbread at the Territory Lounge, and I know they serve food at Tambu and Victoria Falls as well. Unfortunatly I can never seem to find the lounge menus online, but they seem to have food from the restaurants near it. I know Tambu has a lot of Kona's appetizers on their menu.

I love Tangerine, it's my favorite CS in any of the parks. I would say in Disney, but WPE and Contempo are both really good too, and it would be hard to pick a favorite. :goodvibes

I have so much to say about PFTS, and I know I'm going to have to split it up into several posts, maybe a post for each section or something, but so much good food that night, and too much alcohol, but I still managed to make it back to All Stars.

I don't even remember you whipping out your camera to take a picture. YOu're quick!!! :laughing:

I don't know, maybe you just didn't notice the camera because you are used to me being so obsessed with food. :laughing:

It was a long wait at the lounge. I remember thinking we had plenty of time to stop and get drinks when we went over, and then it took forever to actually get the drinks. Oh well, it didn't matter in the long run, since we got to see Fantasmic, and that's all that's important. That picture is so funny! Thinking about it though, those parents should really teach those kids to keep there mouths shut. Like it was hilarious when it happened, but I can just see those kids being bullies in high school, and making fun of people.

And you're fun to hang out with. I think that's the hardest I laughed all week between those people, and the drawings of Dopey, etc. And even though I love going solo, I also love to have company and conversations, especially in lines and waiting for shows. We'll have to have dinner again together next year too. :goodvibes
