Hello All!

My fiance' Stephanie and I are getting married sometime early September and plan on spending our honeymoon at the Disneyland Resort :). This is also the place we got engaged in 2010, and where we spent Xmas last year. I had some questions about the early/mid September time of the year at the park.

  • I hear that the "Halloween" time begins September 14th this year, does that indicate the both Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion will be open at this time (after holiday transformation is complete).
  • Is there anything specific you all would recommend for a Honeymoon? We plan on staying at the Grand Californian hotel, but we thinking possibly of using a "DVC" point purchase system to get a villa. A good view might be more important to us though, than "space" if that makes sense.
  • Is there anything additional you would recommend outside of the park? We are both taking two weeks off and plan on staying at Disneyland 6 days. Are there inexpensive sites/places to stay you would recommend? (universal studios/sea world etc).
  • When are the best times to purchase tickets for this time? Are there any good discounts that occur around this time (free meal plans? :cool1:)
  • Any other advise you guys have would be great :)

Thank you all in advance! This forum is awesome for any Disneyland fans. (sorry if this is the wrong section as well, a moderator can move as need be).

Happy Friday,

Adam

Those attractions do open at the beginning of the season.

Some rooms have great views some ok, you really want to be high up. If you look in the GCH Superthread below you can get an idea of what views to expect from what room area.

If you are considering GCH do you really want to stay somewhere cheap? A stay there is going to make a motel 6 look like trash the next night.

Near Universal is a Sheraton and Hilton.

Near Sea World, I would consider staying on a beach for some relaxing time. In Mission Bay which Sea World is located on there is a Paradise Point Resort and a small resort of modern and basic buldings call The Dana. Near SD is the historic Del Cornado. If you go north there are a few delux resorts you may be able get through priceline at a good rate.

You also may consider going up Highway One or to Las Vegas since you have a couple weeks.

Disneyland Resort does not have a meal plan like WDW, don't plan on using it.

In August a ticket deal may come out for your stay. Also ticket prices will probably go up for this June. You may be better off buying ticket now that are good to the end of the year.

Thank you very much for this information! We are very excited to get everything booked! :) :wizard:

Let them know that you are celebrating something special. I booked a concierge standard room and ended up with a park view. Not saying that's why, but I'm thinking it didn't hurt.

Something to think of. You can probably do concierge DLH for the same cost as a regular room at the GCH. I've ended up spoiling my DW by doing concierge and I doubt she will settle for anything else. But it was worth it for our x0 anniversary.

BTW we also did the engagement, honeymoon and now an anniversary trip at the DLR.

Have you thought about the fairytale suite at DLH? It's beautiful and it's priced fairly comparable to concierge at GCH. It's got a huge bank of windows overlooking dtd and a great view of the fireworks. You can even add concierge if you wanted. It would be very romantic :)
