OK, I did it -- I just booked our 4 day cruise on the Wonder!

We are going in September and I do realize this is (gulp) hurricane season, but the prices were so great and we just couldn't afford to go during high time.

So, its ok, be honest....I want to be prepared and prepare the kids --

is it pretty likely we'll be rained upon often, both at Disney World & on the cruise itself?

I really don't have a clue if this is a rainy "season" where it rains lots and almost daily....or if this is a time of year where hurricanes are most likely to occur, but there are still plenty of nice sunny days to be had.

Thanks for any info!

Kris

I haven't been on the cruise yet but I have been in WDW is SEPT for 3 vacations (see siggy) and while rain does happen it only rains for a short time and then stops. Like sometimes 15 minutes. The last Sept trip we took it rained the morning of our first day for about an hour maybe an hour and a half.. No big deal at all. It still gets really hot during Sept. From what a cast member told us it is quite comoon for it to rain with quick showers like 30 minutes or so throughout the year. It definitely wasn't bad and I love going to WDW in Sep and FEB :)
We are going to book a sept cruise tomorrow. We are doing the 3 night one :)

Just to warn you, someone told us that when we did our August 2002 trip to WDW. During the day, there would be short bouts of rain for 15 minutes. But in the evening it rained 5 of 6 nights we were there for a solid 2 hours. It was disappointing.... I don't want to be a bad sport but now we know and we'll be better prepared. We were traveling with a 15 month old & 4 1/2 year old both in strollers most of the time. ON THE POSTIVE NOTE, we still had a GREAT time.... We even did a 3 day cruise with Disney and it didn't rain a single drop the entire 3 days... GL

We have also done WDW in September a number of times. WE finally switched months because we were so tired of getting rained on!!! Some days it would just be the brief showers other days it was all day. We had a really bad trip in 2001 when we were there over Sept 11th and in the middle of a Hurricane. However we have found the end of September to be better then the begining.

WE are looking at a 4 day cruise at the end of August 2005 and I am also concerned about rain and hurricane. We did a cruise in September for our honeymoon 10 years ago and had wonderful weather. There was a tropical storm warning but the boat must have just steered around it because we had nothing but nice weather and calm seas. So you never know.

My inlaws were there for that week. I am so sorry you had such a horrible vacation and to add to the rain the sept 11th it was horrible. My in laws rented cars and drove home because they were terrified to fly. I remember that week really well. Plus being a NYer we will never forget. I am sorry though that trip stunk. You guys all got hit hard that week.

guess We are lucky we always do DCL and WDW in Sept, (less people), both my DW and my parents live in FL and I never noticed any difference in the amount of rain in Sept compared to most of the rest of the year. There is always a chance for rain in FL, and it is usually short, but like anywhere else in the country some times when the rain comes it comes and stays. Do not worry about Hurricans on DCL the captain will stay well clear of them. That being said we are going on DCL again in sept and so far we have not made it to CC yet, hopefully the third time will be a charm

We prefer Sept. for WDW-- and were there for that horrible combo 9/11 Tropical Storm Gabrielle week in 2001.:(

We did the Western last Sept. We had some rain-- but mostly we saw it in the distance. No hurricanes at all, thankfully.

3DisneyNuts, which 3-day are you going on in Sept? We're on the Sept. 23 cruise....

We were on the Sept 11, 2003 - 3 day Wonder cruise. The weather was wonderful. But the cms kept saying that that week the weather had improved from previous weeks. It did rain for about 15 minutes when we were in Nassau. It was just a little sprinkle, not even enough to cool you off. This time of year the prices are cheaper due to the weather. The captain can steer clear of the hurricanes but not all the rain clouds. It was the humidity that almost did me in.

You know, the CM's ALWAYS say that about the weather, CC, the roughness of the seas etc.

No one has ever posted that a CM said "You should have been here last week, the weather/water/waves was much better than now."

We even heard these types of (things are better now) comments from the cruise director himself!!

Heck, I think you could be sailing into a hurricane (which you wont be) and the cruise director would be saying - "Heck if you wanted bad weather you should have been here the last three weeks!"

Well when I tried to book Sept they only have late seating left :( So we are going in Nov now the 18th actually. Bummer since I would have loved to meet someone new :)

Really? We booked March 31 and got early seating. We must have gotten one of the last slots!

Have fun in November!

Yeah I was shocked that they were booked as well but also we are doing a land vacation also and we had to tie them together. :):)
