September Check-in - September has Arrived!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, I only just found this site this week. My last Disneyland visit was in 1997! I am bringing my 3 children (DS 13 DS 10 DD 10) for their first visit :dance3:. We will be there 10 September to 21 September we have a 10 day pass. We are coming from Australia and are all so very excited. We are staying at the Desert Inn & Suites. I have enjoyed reading all your posts in this thread as well as getting great tips in the other threads. 6 weeks and 1 day to go. Our PhotoPass+ arrived in the mail today .... its starting to feel real. Nice to meet some other September Disney visitors:)

Hello fellow Aussie :goodvibes We will also be there on those dates, are staying at the DI&S for part of our trip, and our PP+ arrived yesterday too!

I agree half day is an exaggeration. But since the park hours are already shortened in September. Quite considerably. From sixteen to ten. To carve off 3 more is roughly a half day and doesn't give a lot of time for a $100 admission.

we will be there the 16th-20th luckily the 18th is our beach/cali day so i'm not too upset :flower3:

We leave on the 18th so it doesn't have a direct impact on us. But I still feel badly for those who are visiting that day and will have to re-think what they want to do that day (brave the crowds in CA, do something else in the evening and have a shorter day in the parks), or-if you have that luxury-do a non-Disney day that day and save a day on your pass for a full day on another day.

I'll be ok with it if they extend the morning hours. I'd rather have that time in the morning anyway when crowds are lower. But we'll see. If they don't do that I may rethink a bit.

I wish they posted hours a lot sooner than they do...and 5 is way too early to close. Have not been to Disneyland in about 15 years, and this is probably last trip there. Only there for two days, so I guess it's California adventure on the 18th and Disneyland on the 19th. Planned the trip specifically to have lesser crowds, and seeing as how they really hadn't announced it, none of my other reservations/plans can be changed. So yeah, easy to say try to make the best of it, but it is VERY disappointing to spend that kind of money and have them do that.

I am super sad about the early closure on the 18th! That is the day we arrive and we payed for a park hopper ticket but wont be able to hop! ugh.. :(

we went in 2011 and they closed disneyland park at 6 pm for a party of some sort. it was no problem at all we rode a couple of rides at dca it was not overly crowded and we went to dinner down the street. We had a great day plus we got to go to the pool and get to bed at a nice hour for the next day. I think if you make that a shopping evening in downtown disney or do something fun then u wont even notice it. If you tell yourself it sucks and is horrible then it will be and if you give yourself something else to look forward to then it will be great. Just think you are on vacation at the happiest place on earth i would take 4 hours at disneyland over 12 anywhere else!

Thanks for the post just updated my vacation and saved huge plus upgraded to premium : ) for less then I had paid

Thank you thank you!!!

My pleasure :goodvibes

You can also try to book through Orbitz and get an additional 15% off (that's why I did), but you have to pay it all up-front (it says free cancellation up to like 3-5 days before your first night) and enter the promo code found here. Also, you can try to go through ebates to try to get 3.5% cash back or go through shop discover (if you have a discover card) and get 5% cash back (not sure if it will work in conjunction with the promo code--I have had it work with other sites and a promo code in the past, but YMMV).

If you book through Ortbitz, and use the code for the extra 15% off, that's solely for rooms, correct? It doesn't include tickets? I see that they do a three day park hopper with a complimentary fourth day, but the code doesn't work in conjunction with that?

I currently have a Costco package but the room rates have me considering switching to staying on property. I'm just trying to compare costs.

I believe that is correct--that the 15% is for hotels only. I am buying my tickets through Plum Benefits which is offered through my employer--Adult 3-Day Hopper is $238.00. However, an Adult 3-Day Hopper is only $2.00 more ($240.00) from way.com. Right now, Orbitz has a deal where you get an extra day if you buy a 3-Day ($365) or 4-Day ($289) Hopper at regular price. However, 4-Day Hopper is $1 less at way.com ($364) and a 5-Day Hopper is $9 less at way.com ($280) .

However, I believe the way.com tickets may have a convenience/printing fee and I am not sure about Orbitz.

Our departing date is 9/4 (rather than 9/3 - my bad in my initial response) and we are staying at the GC. Can't wait!

Thanks for starting/maintaining the thread!
