*September Car Rental Rates* 2011

I wonder if the day of the week you pick up and return has anything to do with the rates. We are going Sept. 24-Oct. 4 and while my rate for an economy car has gone down quite a bit since I first booked a couple of months ago, it still is coming up just over $200. I am using the SUNPROMO code and the insiders code.

It is weird how the pick up time makes a difference. Pick-up is set at noon on the website and I forgot to change it. We are picking up at 4 and returning at 6. When I changed it, the price went down. It seems like it would have gone up since the rental period was actually 2 hours longer.

I know what you mean. Use to be if you rented at the top of the hour say
12:00 it was cheaper than 12:30.

Just noticed if I use the SUNPROMO code on Alamo my rate goes up $150. !!!!

This is with Alamo using the 20% code and $40 off coupon.

My rate went down again using the insider's codes! My dates are Sept 19-27 and I was at $120 for an economy. This morning a compact is cheaper than economy and the total price for a compact went down to (insert drumroll)....... $96.18!!!!

I will definitely keep checking to see if this downward trend continues! It's actually become like a game for me. It feeds right into my obsessive Disney planning personality, lol!

WOW! Taking your advice this morning I checked my rates and now I get a midsize car for my dates of Sept 24-Oct 4 for $156 off the lot.
That's down about $50 since last night at 8pm.

Does anyone know if there is something I need to present using the sunpromo code? I know I'm good with the Alamo Insiders code and there is no physical coupon but here is that red lettering when I enter the codes that says I may have to present a coupon and I am not sure to what they are refering.

I just rebooked with Alamo. For Sept 24~30, I was paying around $145 for compact using insider code 20% and AD4027JDO. The rate came down and booked full size (with same code/coupon) for $120. For compact it's now down to $101.

When we rented with Alamo before economy/compact cars didn't have automatic locks/window which was doable but annoying so booked full size (which has auto locks/window).

Hopefully, the rate would fall below $100 but still happy with the current rate!

So excited, checked again for sept 24 - oct 1 and the rates were down!!! From $175 yesterday out the door to $86 today out the door, full-size, woo hoo!!! Now if I could only get 2 reservations for the pirates league on the 30th I would be on

WOW, thank you so much for the updates on 9/24-10/01. Just got a full size car for a total of $92.46 everything included from Alamo. I am ECSTATIC!!!!!!!!!!

congrats all, it must be since you are starting your trip before the expiration date of 9/26. Because I start mine on 9/27 and I keep getting that the code is expired before our trip.

I can't believe I am posting this yet again....but my rate went down YET AGAIN! I booked a compact at $96 this morning, just checked again and now I am down to $80.98! Dates are Sept 19-27

Just checked our dates....9/25 to 10/1 nooon to noon and have it down to $86.38 for a full size!!!!! Everyone check to make sure the contract ID you use gives you the biggest discount.... the 20% discount code #7014667 is a bit better than the Insider ID for our dates. I am thrilled with this rate but of course will still check back frequently....Good Luck all!!!

I am getting so impatient!! i did get our Alamo rental down to $260 from 9/27 to 10/2 for a mini-van using the visa 30$ off coupon, but I want it to be lower!! There are some great rates on cars during this time though!!! I hope that mini-vans go down a bit more!!

Thank you all for posting your great deals. I was booked for 250.00 with budget but now have canceled that and got Alamo for 113.01 including taxes/fees for a full size for Sept 22-30. I am so excited! Anyone stayed at the Hampton...I am looking at the park and stay package.

OMG!!! I just tried again and my $109 is now $75 and this for a full size car 9/17-9/23. This is great because 8 months ago it was $420, wow! What a great birthday to me today!

I rechecked just now 5:30pm and rate came down again..... Alamo insiders and use ID:7014667 Coupon AD4027JDO.

Sept 24 noon to Sept 30 6pm Full Size rate is $89.34. That's another $30 lower than this morning!

The rate was same with standard/full. Economy/Compact is $80.91 and midsize is $82.78.

Do you all normally get 2 drivers when you rent a car?
These codes only allow for 1 driver but I have another code where it includes 2 drivers but it is about $25 more.
Do you find it necessary to have two people be allowed to drive the car?
It's just me and DH who would drive. I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra $25 just to have DH be able to drive too.
