Thinking of going just before value season ends- to get the best rates!! Anyhow this would mean arriving right around 9/28-9/29. I know it's rainy around this time of year--- but just how much soo? The alternative is to wait 2-3 weeks. So, not sure if it's going to make that much of a difference.

Anyone who's gone right around then, what did you find??

Rain in Florida is a fickle thing. Yes, it comes every day in the summer, but it doesn't last long. It's generally an afternoon shower, lasting less than an hour -- usually less than 30 minutes. You'll buy a bit of extra "dry time" if you push your trip back, but not a significant amount. And, regardless, the rain tends to cool things off freshen up the air a bit, so it makes for a nice afternoon treat.

I wouldn't change your trip plans simply because it's going to rain.

We went to WDW the last full week of 2002. It rained everyday except for the last. There was a hurricaine out in the gulf that sent in bands of rain everyday. The rain last anywhere from 10-15 minutes to half the day.

You can still go and have lots of fun at WDW in the rain. Just go knowing that it's going to be hot, humid, and rainy. These things can be dealt with.

Buy 2/$1 rain ponchos from Dollar Tree before you go. Buy lots of them. Carry them in your backpack. Also carry a gallon sized ziploc bag for each poncho. This way, if it only rains for 15 minutes, clears and then rains 3 hours later, you still have the poncho ready to use.

Carry a waterbottle and drink even when you don't feel thirsty. Dehydration is a bummer. The heat and humidity make drinking a MUST.

Scotchgard your backpack, sneakers, and fannypack. This will help to protect them and let you keep moving.

Carry a clean dry shirt and a couple of dry pairs of socks for each member of your party in a ziploc bag also. Sweaty or rainy soaked clothes are a joy killer.

We had a great time even with all the rain. It was our best vacation ever. It's important to remember that rain will not end your enjoyment of Disney. There is much that can still be done.

We have been 9 years in a row in Sept. Yes it rains. But it isn't enough to fret over. You will still have a good time. Most of the time its afternoon showers and they break the heat/humidity a bit.
Sometimes if you are there during a hurricane/trop storm as we have been 3 times....there will be SOOOO much rain. But guess what...we still went to the parks and we had a great time.

just pack extra socks, shoes that can get wet, flipflops for the rain, your ponchos, and an umbrella.

you may need them or not. The rain can put a damper on your pool time but you will still be able to ride rides etc.
Plus it is slow in Sept and the crowds are GREAT !!

Have fun !!!

Who knows?!! We had a week of bad weather last year, but the other 2 where fine.2001 the weather was great for 3 weeks,so who can tell!! We intially used to time our holiday for just after Labor day but we had 2 complete washouts & I'm not talking about just an hour or 2 every day,so we started going later in the month. We've generally found that the weather is a bit more predictable in October but we'll still be there at the end of Sept!!
As several of the other posters have mentioned ,you can go prepared & if it does only happen for a short while each day(normally if this happens it seems to be roughly the same time each day) just schedule a break/meal stop & that way you don't notice it so much!
Being Scottish we're used to rain anyway but just because it's warm rain it does start to spoil your holiday if it's constant! I vaguely recall reading somewhere that Florida Hurricane season starts May time so I think it will always be a game of chance!

I'm thinking that by checking in during value season we may be able to do the Poly-- (if AP rates come out). So, I guess the rain wouldn't be that bad.

We were there in 2001 from 9/23-9/29 and the only rain we had was one morning, 9/27 I believe. We did EE at MK and by the time we knocked out Fantasy Land and stopped for breakfast the rain had stopped. We did have some threatening clouds for most of the following day, but nothing came of it.
We were also there from 10/8-10/12 2000(not sure how long you plan to stay) and had no rain at all. It was really cold some mornings(record low temps, stores ran out of sweatshirts) but we were dry at least. ;)
