September 4th (2004) Disney Magic Cruise List

Amy -

Call DU; they could be more help than my TA.

However, I checked w/ DCL & they suggested to call on Friday pm to find out if the ship will be moved to another port. It's too early to know anything about our cruise; they're working right now on the 4-day cruise that sails on Thursday pm.

See you onboard!

Disney cruise line actually called me this afternoon. Like you guys, I am on the Sat, Sept 4th Eastern cruise.

She said Disney was contacting all the passengers. They wanted to know if I had a cell phone number, the flight I would be taking, the hotel I would be staying at. She said they would be contacting us, Friday or Saturday or Thursday and needed alternate #'s.

I asked if any decisions had been made and she said that it was still too early. She relayed that "they" (whoever that is) had been in almost constant meetings today talking about the situation and contengencies.

Anyway...thought this was interesting. I don't know if anyone else has been contacted?

Big thanks to All Seasons Travel (Sandi and Chuck) - they called me several times today to verify my information (flight, hotel, phone numbers) AND to reassure me that althought they will be gone on their vacation, I will be served by their office and Disney.

Chuck took a lot of time out of his day to call and give me more information about what could happen and how do deal with things. Basically, he said that we need to make sure that we have all our information together and that our TA or Disney has all current numbers (cell phone and emergency).

I was totally blow away by his call and his caring professionalism - made me very glad that I transferred my Disney cruise to them. I can't believe how informed he was and how willing he was to answer all my questions.

So best advise, make sure Disney has your numbers and don't sweat it!

TexasGirl -

I "wonder" who'll call me.... I made my ressie w/ a TA not w/ DCL directly? Who did you book yours with?

I just e-mailed our TA and gave them our information. She e-mailed me back immediately thanking me for providing the information and that they have it noted in their system.

I'm notorious for not answering my home telephone. Almost will never get in touch with me that way. lol

Now that's why!!!!

Well, if DCL called me at home I'd probably answer beacuse it would probably be about 3:00a.m. in the morning here. lol
I'd jump out of bed ready to cuss out whoever it was calling at that ungodly hour. :D

Got a call from DCL this evening. They just wanted info on where they could contact us Thur and Fri. Said nothing had changed yet.

T&J said they are having a good time onboard. Calm waters. Internet cafe is down onboard so they were surfing the net at a local cafe. They have heard nothing yet about a change of port.

Several years ago (I think pre-Wonder even) DCL did change port for a few trips to Port Everglades. Passengers were kept well informed about the changes. There were buses at PC to transport anyone to the ship that wanted to park at the port.

I know this as fact because I know several people personally that were on the diverted cruises.

LOL

BTW -- Keep that positive attitude coming. I'm in desperate need for replenishing!

Disney called me direct although I booked through All Seas Travel. I was impressed DCL was doing that. Not one peep from All Seas though.

OK, here's what I have decided (for the moment anyways). We are driving down a day earlier than planned (we will be in Florida on Friday morning instead of Saturday morning). We made a reservation for Pop Century at WDW for Friday night. I am hoping that when we wake up Saturday morning, that we will be able to make a quick adjustment to alternative docking sites.

Ok Floridians, I need your help. I am hurricane ignorant. I'm thinking that if the hurricane hits PC area, that there will also be severe weather/tornadoes/high winds etc. in Orlando as well. Is it a smart thing to even consider staying in Orlando on Friday night or would I be better off staying somewhere on the Florida border????? I have already made my nonrefundable reservation (about $86.00) for Pop Culture.

The most afraid that I have ever been in my life was in May when I was driving home from work in a severe thunderstorm. There were tornadoes dropping down out of the clouds all around me, emergency vehicles with sirens blaring everywhere. How does that compare to a hurricane???

Starting to panic........in Indiana

I think it depends on where it hits. WDW seems to take good precausions during storms. I would make sure you have some ice and water on hand, wherever you stay. WDW will give you flashlights but it wouldn't hurt to bring a radio and extra batteries, just like if you were home without power. Maybe even some food. Fill your bath tub in the room if the storm is going to hit or come close. I had my kids wear thier bike helmets during Charley, you probably won't have them handy ;)

Hi everyone, DCL contacted me tonight to ensure they had all my contact numbers. While she could not tell me how things are going to change she did give me additional information, as follows:

1) DCL still plans on sailing on 9/4.
2) Captain will have a finalized course either late Thursday or Friday am.
3) An Eastern trip could be turned into a Western trip, although this is unlikely as I believe HF as already passed both PR and USVI. Castaway Cay could be eliminated if necessary.
4) A port change to TPA (Tampa) is unlikely as CCL or RCL (can't remember which) already have confirmed birthing and take priority over Disney. Therefore, there simply would not be sufficient space for them to relocate there.
5) Depending on the weather (of course) either Port Everglades (FLL) or Key West ports would be used IF they needed to relocate.
6) IF there are any changes to either the embarkation location or the ports of call, Disney will get in touch with passengers either late Thursday or early Friday.
7) IF a guest wanted to change their dates due to the hurricane, Disney would allow with a $50.00 pp change fee as well as the difference in cost for the new dates of travel (if any).
8) All in all, Disney is going to ensure the safety of it's guests and the ship and will do whatever is necessary to keep the ship sailing on 9/4.

after talking to dcl cm earlier today, before getting the call for contact info, i checked with american about moving flight and agent told me that waiting until later when it was sorted out a little better where and when frances was coming ashore, then changes could be made to our flight at no additional cost. be open to changing destination as well as time.

Just to keep everyone up to date, I called DCL and gave them our contact information last night. We are due to get in at 2:30 pm on Friday and the expectation is still that we will be able to get in (so far) apparently (I know it is guess work). More importantly, DU sent us an email about midnight Eastern time last night asking for detailed contact and travel information so that DCL can get ahold of us. With things re Frances so up in the air, they can't choose an alternative port yet, but DCL said they would have to make that decision probably today or by all means tomorrow.
