Oh wow, we are really waffling on clothing- worried we're gonna be cold on deck so was thinking we'd bring more pants than shorts but then I hear 80 degrees on land? Decisions, decisions...

Based on my past experiences it will be cool when where in open sea and SF but plan for at least mid 80's for LA, SD, And Mexico

I hear there's a detective (scavenger-type) game on the Dream- is there something similar on the Wonder?

We are in the same boat (literally we will be in a few days, oh heavens I crack myself up...ha ha!). I have no idea what to pack! I have a feeling we may overpack :-).

We would like to join the meet and greet. Please add us to the list:
Sam and Sandy + our girls, Sofia (4) and Mile (6 mo.)... and grandmother (Marlene, Sam's mom).:goodvibes

Welcome to the cruise thread...see you and your family at the meet and greet on Sunday :goodvibes

:wave2:

pretty sure this i only on the fantasy and dream - ie the newer ships with newer technology. Unless something's happened to the wonder and magci that i'm not aware of.

We are definitely in the same boat - I have everything laid out on the bed and am having trouble deciding. I better get packing as we fly out tonight from Boston. See you all soon - first stop 2 nights at Disneyland to really get in the spirit of things :-)

I have a photo hunt that I made last year on the wonder. It has about 20 pictures, I'd be happy to email it to anyone interested.

Thanks to everyone on the DISboards, I feel like I have a good grasp of all the 'extras' that are useful to bring (highlighters, zip ties, photo mats, etc.) but the specific clothes we need is another story...

Part of the problem is I hate to commit to what clothes I'll be wearing- I want more flexibility! Which means, I'll have to pack more, LOL! Since it's our first cruise and we're not planning to do anything in the ports, I think we're going to lean towards the slightly warmer clothes... mostly pants and short sleeve shirts w/ hoodies. Not getting off the boat also means that I feel like we need to pack an entire drugstore! Normally, when we travel, I just figure, "If we forgot something or need more of something, we can always run to the nearest drugstore." But in this case, we don't have that option (well, there is the Health Center, I know, but I don't even wanna know how much it would cost for a box of Bandaids if someone gets a blister or something!) So I'm packing everything I can think of, and plenty of it...

I really need to start putting stuff in our bags- right now I just have a big pile of things- I'm terrible at estimating space and never really know what I'm dealing w/ (in terms of space) till I start. Fortunately, I have tomorrow to work on this, too!

I am seriously giddy over this trip! I am bursting w/ excitement and it kind of cracks me up b/c I do really feel like a kid again!

This is me exactly. I never know what I will feel like wearing so I pack lots of options. I usually end up wearing less than 1/2 of what I've brought. One piece of advice, pack extra hangers. They don't give you very many and there aren't that many drawers. If you don't get a steamer trunk in your room (not all of them have them) there is even less space. I use the drawers in the desk and the drawers to the dresser but they are small. I usually end up hanging all of my stuff up.

Being this your first cruise I will make sure to meet you and talk you into getting out the boat and at least enjoy some of the ports. San Francisco will be a bit windy and cool, the pier is pretty and there is a lot to see. San Diego is warm and nice. I do not know about Ensenada. I know that it will be warm and maybe a good opportunity to stay on board and enjoy the pool.
In another note do not worry about having to buy bandages or anything like that. You can buy them at the gift shop. A trip to the doctor is over $100.00. A call to any of us is free (room to room). Also you can go to customer relations and they will help you with any issue.

I also need to pack.:crazy2: See you in two days.

We were on the Wonder in Jan. and I just asked for more hangers and they brought them to the room. I went to the medical center to have my son's temp checked and to get some sea sick meds and it was free

Thanks... yeah, I figured stuff like Bandaids would be available for purchase but it will kill me to spend 2x more for stuff that I could've brought w/ me so I'm trying to bring as much as I can :-) It is nice to know we have this community for advice and an extra Bandaid, though, if we need it :-)

Being our first trip, we figured we'd just soak up the cruise as experience as much as possible. Plus, we are concerned about excursions adding to our costs. But I did read that it's a quick and easy bus ride to Ghiradelli Square in San Francisco, so might have to give that consider that ;-) Being on the W. Coast already we don't feel as much urgency to visit the cities since we can always make another trip (by car, even)...

This is only our second cruise. The first was an Alaska cruise and I wanted to do that more for the ports than the "cruise experience." This one will be more for the cruise since I enjoyed the first.

San Francisco is easy enough to just walk. To get from the port to Ghiradelli doesn't even require a bus. A pleasant walk through the city, an outstanding sundae, and a stroll back along the pier is our plan.
