I'm thinking we can switch or go twice if they'll let us. Do we know if they ask who's attending on the group reservation? I'd like to hold onto our original reservation for now. That way if we get others who want to go to Palo brunch but can't get a ressie, we can step aside and just keep our original day/time.

Hi there,

I'm from Jonathan's family! We are heading over from New Zealand to primarily have a brilliant family re-union with our family from Australia and UK but also so excited to be joining the cruise!

DH and I (34) are coming with our daughters aged 3 and 6 years who can't wait. We are all Mickey Mouse mad and love cruises so this is the perfect combination! We cruised from Auckland to Vanuatu and New Caledonia earlier this year and have cruised years ago before children but this is our first Disney Cruise and we can't wait!!

Any suggestions for good hotels to stay in prior to getting on the ship? We are in LA for two nights before we depart.

Thanks for the welcome! My mom has never really travelled. She drove to NM once, she was in FL in her teens and went 1 Caribbean cruise w/ my family.
She is very excited about going.

Very excited to be in the Brunch Brigade! It is my favorite!

We have our excursions booked.

We will be arriving in LA an few days before hand. We will be staying in Santa Monica. I will be taking her to see all the sights. I was thinking about DL but I think that would push my Daughter over the edge. (Plus we are going to WDW on 8/24)


In SF, the first day we are doing Muir Woods/Sausilito and China town at night.
The second day there...unsure. Possibly Altcsataz or trolley ride.

I'm having a panic moment. I booked our flights home on SW from LAX at 11:50am. Does anyone think this is possible? Does anyone have any experience getting from the port to LAX after a cruise? If I change my ticket I don't get back to the East Coast until after midnight
Any advice is welcome.

I read online that the earliest flights should be at 1:00pm

Our Interary states all ashore for Debarkation is 9:30 am.

You would be cutting close.

Just finished looking through the rest of the thread. I am getting excited.


Momof M&M- My kids are Matt-(14) and Marina(11).

I wish that this would be my 3rd cruise of the year.
We sailed on Holland America in April and had the Fantasy booked for the end of August. But, my daughter really wanted to go to Disney World this year. Except for a day at Epcot before a cruise she hasn't been there since she was 5. So, when free dining came out for the dates we were cruising , we switched to WDW. It saved us $2500.

I would love to book a Med. on this cruise but my kids could care less about the ports when we are on DCl. It is all about their new friends and the clubs.



I am a cruise addict.


ETA:I can't wait until around the 30 day mark when I find out our cabin assignment.

We are flying back to the east coast and booked a 2:45pm flight. Hate to get in late, but did not want to risk missing the flight.

Apologies in advance for separate posts with questions. Normally I'd combine them all into one post but the system requires a newbie post 10 times before being allowed to PM anyone.

Anyway, it sounds like there's plenty of food available on board pretty much at all hours and mostly free, is that right? So do folks bring a lot of their own snacks or not bother? Also, do most of you drink the tap water, bring bottled water, or just buy a case onboard?

Sorry if these questions are basic- we're first time cruisers.

I know it costs more but I'm leaning towards private transport of some kind to get from LAX to the Port. Of course, I'm looking for the lowest price possible in that category. Any recommendations from personal experience? TIA.

LOL, I'm the same way, "No Laundry!" And I don't iron much, either. Have you heard of Downy Wrinkle Release? I pretty much stopped ironing after I discovered it. If something really does require ironing, hubby does it, LOL.

OK... I'll say it again... not on the ship, not in a hotel and definately not at home.

NO LAUNDRY

I buy multi packs of "necessities" ... no laundry before packing.
My BFF has a different idea. She brings the kids oldest undergarments and socks then throws them out as they are worn for the last time.... no laundry after
and more room for all those awesome DCL souveniers.

And don't iron... unless it's changed dramatically, "press only" is VERY reasonable aboard ship.

There is plenty of food anytime you need it and its free. You can order room service 24 hours a day. No need to bring any snacks unless you have a fussy eater. I just drink the tap water. I'm sure thats what they serve at meals and its fine. Never had any problems at all. If you want bottled water you can pick it up in San Francisco and bring it onboard with you. That is another great thing about Disney they do let you bring beverages onboard. You will have a great time.

How exciting to think that you might join us! Linda (adnil530) is the one organizing this event so I'll let her confirm particulars. However, the plan at this time was to get 12-14 people to make it possible to request dining in the private room. Now that I think we have those numbers Linda should be able to make the request. I wouldn't think that two of you already having reservations should be a problem (?)

Thanks for the list. This board and all you folks are a great resource. We still haven't seen Brave and for some weird reason, my kids don't want to. Hubby and I do, though, so we may just shuffle the kids off to the Kids Club and have a movie date night!

Found this on the Sept 16th Pixar cruise. Apparently they couldn't confirm the playing of Nemo 3D but I'm going to assume it will be as stated on the cruise description.

Our family is so excited to just to be on a Disney cruise (also our first ever cruise) that we are thinking we want to spend the entire time on it. In other words, we are thinking we won't bother w/ any shore excursions. Do people do that or are we crazy? It seems like there's enough to do on the boat and we don't feel bad about missing out on stuff in CA since we live on the West Coast anyway. And I didn't really see anything in Ensenada that the kids would want to do. Plus, we figure not getting off the boat saves us a bit of money too. Just wondering how common this is...? Thanks.

They sell popcorn and candy outside of the theaters.
They do sell chips and other snack type foods in the duty free liquor shop on board.

Disney does not have out bags of chips onboard ( They do have at Castaway CAY)

Usually when you order room service, the sandwiches come with chips.
If he can't live with out them, you can bring some with you or pick up in port.

As for chocolate, there is usually ice cream and other chocolate desserts. You should get chocolates left on your pillow every night.

There is a lot of food available on board. I think that your kids will be too busy to worry about eating. My kids love hanging with their new friends and in the clubs.

You can get free :water, soda, tea, coffee, milk and hot chocolate 24 hours a day at the self serve drink station on Deck 9. It is located in the corner near the Mickey pool.


ETA: ANy drink in a can or bottle , you have to pay for. So, if you order a drink from the bar it will come in a can. I think it is about $2 a piece.
Alcoholic drinks are extra along with speciality coffees in the Cove Cafe. You can order some coffee drinks for free during meals.

Room Service: You will need to tip the waiter who delivers it. The room service menu is in the hard covered book in your cabin. I think it is pg 19.
You can order juice, milk, coffee, tea for free from room service. you will be charged for pop since it comes in a can.

The tap water is fine. Ask the room steward to leave you some ice.

During meals in the dining room, soda will be free.
