September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

>>Pub Crawl - Day 2 (First At Sea Day) - Meet in Diversions (Deck 3) at 10pm and we'll work our way around the ship!!

Cabin Crawl - Day 5 (Second at Sea Day) - Meet in the Lobby Atrium (Deck 3) at 2:30pm - we will give each other a tour of our cabins to see what options are available on the ship.<<

Sounds like we are getting more interest in the Pub crawl so I thought I would repost. There has also been info about tastings/info sessions put in by DCL. So, we might leave the date/time open. Or...do both :) We can firm up details at the meet and greet. I will keep a list of those interested though so I can make sure everyone gets the info. Thanks!

While I'm going crazy waiting for cruise time I keep fine tuning my ground transportation. I think I just found a good shuttle deal for those flying into LGB or LAX.

--------------------------------------

Transportation option at Long Beach Airport looked to be a little interesting.

First I figured I rent from Enterprise at the Long Beach Airport and return it to the Enterprise location near the ship, the one way rental was $150.16 including a major DROP FEE. Now I think we'll end up renting a car for about 24 hrs then going back to the airport to return the car (avoid the drop fee in SP). Then we'll jump an airport shuttle to the ship.

First I priced Super Shuttle for the three of us round trip (Airport – ship pier – airport)
[*]Non-stop service in a small SUV $96.00
[*]Shared ride van $98.00
[*]Town car meet and greet private transfers $130.00

I was playing just now and found a better rate with Payless Airport Shuttle

[*]Special LGB to DCL or LAX to DCL Shared Van, OW... $10. That's $60 RT for the three of us.
[*] Payless Airport Shuttle.

[*]They have generall good reviews: Yelp - Payless Airport Shuttle - Long Beach

Althought the private ride in the SUV is tempting, I'd rather spend the $36 in the Wonder's Gift Shop... Anyone have experience with Payless Airport Shuttle?

Thank you so much for sharing this info I still need to confirm/book our shuttle for this trip.
We will defiantly be checking them out.

Thanks~

We've done DCL taquilla tasting and martini tasting. Both were fun. I doubt tastings will conflict with a Pub Crawl after late seating. I'm thinking they were in the afternoon??

Both it is! ;)

What is everyone doing in Ensanada if anything? I think I've read that some people are not getting off the ship. When I suggested this to DH, he said no way. We did the Taste Mexico a few years back and that was a fun excursion and I see it is sold out on this cruise.

Looking for ideas.

Linda

We might get off for shopping but decided to see what is going on board that day before we decide anything. We did make Spa and Palo reservations for that afternoon/evening.

We would be interested in the pub crawl. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi everyone.
I hope this is the right place to post. This will be our first cruise (heading over from Australia). I've heard a little about the fish expander thingy and would like to know more. There is so much to read this on this board, I'm getting a little lost. Can anyone direct me where to go or who I should chat with to get involved.

Hi MomofM&M.

I don't think it will conflict with the character meal. Just as some of the others have stated, you can attend the character breakfast and just have coffee or something light. The character breakfast should be well over by the time brunch is served, 11:00 a.m. or after. Maybe someone can chime in if they know the brunch times that were available.

If you are interested in the adult beverage tastings, I don't think it will conflict with these either as I don't think they do them as early as 11:00.

DCL has stopped/or is stopping tea on all the ships. The last tea is this month so there won't be a tea service on our ship. When they stopped the high tea, it was suppose to extend the brunch hours.

It may conflict with bingo.

I will put you on the list for the group Brunch and we will know more about what is happening and when it is happening once the navigators for the Pacific Cruises are posted by other cruisers. If you find that it conflicts with something you would like to do, just let me know and I'll take you off the list.

My TA says that I need to submit the request for the private room 5 days prior to sailing. I'd like to get it in for consideration about 2 weeks prior. Of course there is no guarantee that the request will be granted, but we will lose nothing by asking. When we get the required 12-14 participants, I will PM everyone for details.

So, if you didn't get Palo Brunch reservations and would like a chance to attend Palo Brunch (the best meal on the ship in my opinion) please let me know and I will add you to the list. There is a private room in Palo that can seat 12-14 people. If we get the numbers, I will ask that this room be reserved for our group Palo brunch! It's a fantastic meal and a great way to meet someone you would not have normally met!

Thanks for the info! That helps a lot. I just bought stuff for Making FE gifts. Maybe time will pass sooner that way...

We've booked to take the 'adult' sightseeing and shopping. We have our Palo dinner that night so we probably won't linger around too long.

I'll check what's happening on board also. Might see if Taste of Mexico opens more slots and afterwards, it's an easy walk through the shops and such back to the ship. The adult sightseeing might be worth a look at too.

We went to Ensenada when my daughter was 7. When we went shopping on the way back to the ship, our daughter got scared when the people that were in the bars were spilling out across the sidewalk and into the street...being loud and drunk at 4 in the afternoon. I don't know if that is the norm or if it was just party week or something. Luckily, dd isn't used to seeing people act like that. We stopped at one of the quiet places that had outside seating and had some bottled beverages.

None of the exursions really appeal to me, so thought we may venture off the ship ourselves for a couple of hours and then head back. Not really sure what to expect in Ensenada. Was kind of hoping for a beach day like at Castaway Cay. Anyone who has been, can you advise if you think that wondering on our own will be ok. Just really wanted to give ourselves a tast of Mexico, maybe pick up a few souvenirs and be able to say we were there. :goodvibes

Looking at buying some new lenses for the cruise! I'd love to get a nice wide angle shot of the Golden Gate Bridge!

Oh man same here. I might actually rent a super wide angle lens for this trip though the one we currently have isn't too shabby :)

Thanks for organizing the FE. The group has really grown. My neice actually won't be turning 19 until the end of October so can you please change it to 18 (1)? Thanks again.

checking just now, there are reservations available for Palo Brunch on Thursday at 12:30, and dinner is available all every day except for sea days.

It has been changed :goodvibes You're welcome...I have enjoyed organizing it! party:

Just checking...have you received your stateroom numbers yet?

Hi Guys!
Just wondering if anyone can confirm to me, is the port where we will be docked in SF close to Fisherman's Wharf? We have signed up for a tour on Tuesday, but just want to make sure we are close by to catch it!

Any help is appreciated...:confused3

Hi Everyone,

Just finished reading all 39 pages in this thread. Booked this cruise a couple of weeks ago for my son (age 4) and I. I'm Melissa and my son is Jacob (or Jake).

It will be my 10th cruise, and my son's 3rd, but our first time on Disney Cruise Line. We always cruise Carnival so I'm looking forward to something different.

I am not sure yet if we will be doing the FE, but if so, I will confirm before the deadline.

We live in San Diego so we probably will not get off the ship. If anyone is thinking about the San Diego Zoo, in October they have a promotion where kids get in free for the whole month!

We probably won't get off the ship in Ensenada either. Looking for something fun to do with a 4 year old in San Francisco. Might not get off the ship there either!

Great thread. Thanks for all the tips. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Oh man same here. I might actually rent a super wide angle lens for this trip though the one we currently have isn't too shabby :)

I did it! Went for the 10-22mm and the 50mm f/1.4 prime lens. I can't wait till they come! I need to get some practice in!

I'm also really keen to look into HDR, I've sen a lot of it in the picture of the day thread and though sometimes I think the effect it a bit too extreme, I'd like to give it a try. Get in a few HDR shots at least.

Still no cabin number.... *refresh* :surfweb:
