September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

You're on ... I'm betting one of the most frequently abandoned items on the cruise is a cheap blender. DH makes awesome margaritas... or we can stick to rum and do Pina Coladas. Ohhhh maybe a Totally Berry if we get kaluah or coffee taquila. :cool1:

Piña coladas sound yummy. Have you had a lava colada? Any more room for the party?

Ohhh...yumm. I just found Rachael Ray's Lava Flows - Pina Coladas with Rivers of Strawberry on FoodNetwork.com.
index~~element41~~4.jpg

A Totally Berry has frozen strawberries, kahula (or coffee tequilla) and a couple other things. DH knows how to make them... I know how to sip them. :drinking1

Lise

Me too. Piña coolava!!

Sadly, since we won't be going to CC, no Conch Cooler

OMG. I would love that recipe. My all time favorite Disney drink. Well, besides the Avocado Margarita from La Cav.

Sounds like a whole lot of good options for drinking :cool1: The more the merrier!! :dance3:

It looks like we have 6 Tweens that can go to The Edge (The Wonder's Tween exclusive fun center for ages 11-14).
:dance3::dance3:

The Wonder is a little different...Kids age 3-12 can go the the Club and the Lab. I see Flubber in Sabrina's future!

Our happy little 20.. :jumping1: :jumping1: :dance3::dance3: + 1 cutie :cutie:

Maybe we'll find some more kiddos before we sail.

While I'm going crazy waiting for cruise time I keep fine tuning my ground transportation. I think I just found a good shuttle deal for those flying into LGB or LAX.

--------------------------------------

Transportation option at Long Beach Airport looked to be a little interesting.

First I figured I rent from Enterprise at the Long Beach Airport and return it to the Enterprise location near the ship, the one way rental was $150.16 including a major DROP FEE. Now I think we'll end up renting a car for about 24 hrs then going back to the airport to return the car (avoid the drop fee in SP). Then we'll jump an airport shuttle to the ship.

First I priced Super Shuttle for the three of us round trip (Airport – ship pier – airport)
  • Non-stop service in a small SUV $96.00
  • Shared ride van $98.00
  • Town car meet and greet private transfers $130.00
I was playing just now and found a better rate with Payless Airport Shuttle

Althought the private ride in the SUV is tempting, I'd rather spend the $36 in the Wonder's Gift Shop... Anyone have experience with Payless Airport Shuttle?

I haven't used Payless Shuttle. When my daughter and I were down in the beginning of July we used Shuttlefare. I think it was about $30 for the both of us from LAX to the Queen Mary in LB. They were very good, especially as our flight had been delayed an hour :( and I would recommend them. I haven't started researching for this trip yet as I haven't booked the flights. :scared:

We are planning a few days in DLR after the cruise so I will be looking for a couple of different shuttles, not return.

OK...another lost favorite drink.

Does anyone know how they make the Baker Island's Guavaberry drink on the pier in St Maarten? If I remember right, it has rum and Coco Lopez or something simular in it too... it was back in 2006. :confused3

I just checked Kayak and looking at flights out of Vancouver to any SoCal airport I found $358 RT on WestJet or Alaska.
Here's one option on WestJet:
  • Depart: Sat, 9/29: YVR 4:15p LAX 7:01p 2h 46m nonstop
  • Return: LAX 7:45p YVR 10:27p 2h 42m nonstop
How about flying out of Seattle?? I found $195 RT to Long Beach on Alaska.
  • Depart: Sat, 9/29: SEA 7:00a LGB 9:32a nonstop
  • Return: same price for either Tues 10/9 or Wed 10/10 and three choices each day on times: Nonstop LGB 10:10a SEA 12:46p, Nonstop LGB 7:42p SEA 10:16p or Nonstop LGB 4:35p SEA 7:10p

Looks like a good deal, but Southwest has it beat with a Wanna Get Away Fare of $171.20 to LAX and 2 bags per person fly FREE:

Depart - Sat, Sep 29 - Flight #3357
08:05 AM Seattle/Tacoma, WA (SEA)
12:05 PM Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
Travel Time 4 h 00 m (1 stop, no plane change)

Return - Tues, Oct 9 - Flight #2096
8:00 AM Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
11:50 AM Seattle/Tacoma, WA (SEA)
Travel Time 3 h 50 m (1 stop, no plane change)

Other times are slightly higher and is the same as Seattle to Orange County (SNA) at $191.20 RT with a number of flight times avaialble. Maybe fly into LAX and back from SNA.

Enought playing Travel Agent for one night.

Wow you really are trying make work projects lol. Thanks for the info. I'm going to be using my air miles so it will be even cheaper :) I'm just hoping they will have a sale on Monday. If not, I'll just book the standard (which will be the Westjet one) as I don't want to leave it any longer.

I said I have to keep busy searching stuff 'til cruise time :rotfl2:

Airline Miles are awesome... hope you find a sale on Monday! :thumbsup2

I was just flicking through some pictures from our last cruise. Here is the celebration cake that the servers bring out for birthdays/special occasions. Small yes, but more than enough after a 3 course meal!

I hink we have more candidates for the pub crawl! :woohoo:

Hi Lise,
Please include Brian and I in the pub crawl. Not sure what time this activity will start. We have late seating and already have our dining rotation as I called Disney last week and set it up. We are planning on eating off the ship the evenings we arevin SF and SD and wanted to make sure we had an evening in each of the dining rooms.

Thanks,
Michele

Hi Disney-ite,
Please include us in the FE - this our first Disney Cruise and I have been following all of the post and this seems like a fun thing to do and a great way to meet others.
We are Brian and Michele
In Cabin 6152

We are rookies as well, but I have some great ideas - with help from an experienced Disney cruiser.

Cute!! My DS would possibly like that. Maybe I could even buy cupcakes from The Cove.

What is everyone doing in Ensanada if anything? I think I've read that some people are not getting off the ship. When I suggested this to DH, he said no way. We did the Taste Mexico a few years back and that was a fun excursion and I see it is sold out on this cruise.

Looking for ideas.

Linda

Hi All!

David and I will probably participate in the pub crawl as well, depending on our excrusions. Sounds like Fun :)

We've booked to take the 'adult' sightseeing and shopping. We have our Palo dinner that night so we probably won't linger around too long.

The hubs and I are interested in signing up for the group Palo brunch but will it conflict at all with any character meals or teas? Any chance or tips/suggestions/reassurances? :confused3

Hi MomofM&M.

I don't think it will conflict with the character meal. Just as some of the others have stated, you can attend the character breakfast and just have coffee or something light. The character breakfast should be well over by the time brunch is served, 11:00 a.m. or after. Maybe someone can chime in if they know the brunch times that were available.

If you are interested in the adult beverage tastings, I don't think it will conflict with these either as I don't think they do them as early as 11:00.

DCL has stopped/or is stopping tea on all the ships. The last tea is this month so there won't be a tea service on our ship. When they stopped the high tea, it was suppose to extend the brunch hours.

It may conflict with bingo.

I will put you on the list for the group Brunch and we will know more about what is happening and when it is happening once the navigators for the Pacific Cruises are posted by other cruisers. If you find that it conflicts with something you would like to do, just let me know and I'll take you off the list.

My TA says that I need to submit the request for the private room 5 days prior to sailing. I'd like to get it in for consideration about 2 weeks prior. Of course there is no guarantee that the request will be granted, but we will lose nothing by asking. When we get the required 12-14 participants, I will PM everyone for details.

So, if you didn't get Palo Brunch reservations and would like a chance to attend Palo Brunch (the best meal on the ship in my opinion) please let me know and I will add you to the list. There is a private room in Palo that can seat 12-14 people. If we get the numbers, I will ask that this room be reserved for our group Palo brunch! It's a fantastic meal and a great way to meet someone you would not have normally met!
