My Husband and I just booked this cruise, we cruised on the Magic in the mediteranion back in 2010 and are so excited to be back on DCL.

This will be the first cruise for our 1yr old daughter (she's almost a souvener from our first DCL cruise ).

Does any one have any tips for cruising with little children as this will be our first go round?

We would also love to participate in the FE exchange. We found it to be a lot of fun on our last cruise!

Welcome Princess Kaye! I don't think we have been able to determine when the character breakfast will be, just that there definitely will be one. I've been reading the other WC threads also and haven't seen anything.

And speaking of reading the other threads... I found this on the September 16th one:

Hi Decided to add our name to the Cruise. This will be our first West Coast cruise. We have been on eight cruises from the East Coast. Will definately miss Castaway Cay but we are looking forward to San Franciso. Its just myself and my DH going. We do have reservations for Palo's on our first seaday and now I'm worried that that may be our Character Breakfast. Does anyone know when the Character Breakfast will be. Maybe it is in this thread and I just missed it. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Hello Princess Kaye. We are booked for Palo Brunch on the first sea day too and if we are assigned our Character Breakfast that day we shall definitely attend to have our photo's taken etc but will just have juice and coffee.

We were on the May 15-26 sailing... It was so much fun and we met so many great people on the Dis boards that we did excursions with...

Hello fellow cruisers...

Have any of you ever cruised with a one year old? I know we need to book nursery time I am just not sure when. Our daughter goes to bed so early (we are lucky to keep her up past 7), does anyone know how late the nursery is open for? Kevin and I were talking we would like to see some of the shows just not sure about the little one.

Also I need advice on bringing her car seat, when we have traveled before we have had a rental car. This time we will be doing a shuttle to get to the pier and we are planning on going to Seaworld in San Diego and probably taking a cab. Does anyone know do we need her carseat?
This whole car seat issue has me a little confused... Not to mention I am pretty sure we will need to book a second cabin for all of our baby gear ha!

Car Seats
When Sabrina was tiny we traveled to SoCal, and the car seat flew with us. Sabrina is now 11, so a car seat is no longer an issue.

San Diego Taxi / Town Car
It looks like there are options with and without Car Seats.

Yellow cab - As far as I can tell they don't have car seats. Using the fare calculator, I came up with $22-26 OW +gratuity.

Harbor Airport Transportation - They provide private town cars with "professional, courteous, and well groomed chauffeurs" (oooh I'm all tingly). Their website shows they DO offer car seats:

Here are their San Diego Airport Rates. If I read this right, it will be $35-$39 OW (Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach) for up to 4 people. "20% Gratuity is suggested for all trips and is not included in the rates"

San Diego Rental Car
I grew up in San Diego. We plan to rent a car to go to the beach or Sea World. For Sea World taxi vs. car would be a wash, but for the beach the car is better. No gratuity with a car rental.

Enterprise Rent a Car - There were a couple locations close to the pier. The best rate was at the Little Italy Location and offer's "We'll Pick You Up" service (I have to call and confirm how this works). For a 1-day rental of an Intermediate (Toyota Corolla or similar) I booked $52.79 w/ tax. There's probably a coupon on MouseSavers.com so I may rebook.

Great idea... We'll have our DD Sabrina eat at the Character Breakfast while we sip coffee. This would actually be good...soften the blow of not including her when we go to brunch
