September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Question to those who are voting for To SF and Beyond... should it be SF, SanFran or San Francisco? Definately not Frisco... I just read that it's the local "F" word. (click virtualtourist.com -San Francisco Nicknames then scroll down to read the post "Don't use the F Word" for this and other helpful tips to stay in the good graces of the locals).

There was some feedback that our cruise name shouldn't be a single port like San Francisco. What do you think? Is there something better that keeps the Buzz Lightyear quote? To The Coast and Beyond? To The Golden Gate and Beyond?

I thought "to SF and beyond" made sense for the quote because that's where we start, and then we go 'beyond' to the other ports. That's the one that gets my vote although the others are all really good too!

Deadline to vote on the cruise name :cheer2:
Friday 12 Midnight PT

Maybe we can have Disney-ite put a poll on the thread so we can vote on the names. It seem like it's pretty close between Woody's West Coast Round-Up and To SF and Beyond.

I had my TA check with Disney and there will definitely be a character breakfast. It will be on one of the sea days but we won't know which day till we get on board. It makes it so hard to plan the Palo brunch but as others have mentioned I'll try and change it n board if need be.

I just thought about

The Pacific Pixar Porthoppers

or

The Pixar Pacific Porthoppers

or

Porthopping the Pacific with Pixar

...LOL maybe it's time to go to bed!

It's amazing how our brains work when we get tired ;) I do like Pixar Pacific Porthoppers though :cheer2:

Good to see another west coaster on the Boards at this hour :)

I like the first two :wave2:

Here's another West Coast Wonder-ers... or Woody's West Coast Wonder-ers

Oooh...Woody's West Coast Wonder-ers is good as well but probably will be too long for my idea for FEs :scared:

I've seen where several folks are planning on going to the Walt Disney Museum while in SF and spending quite a bit of time there. I'd never heard of this museum until I read about it on this board.

What can you tell me about it?

Why would someone who is not a Disney "nut" want to go?

Just trying to see if this is something we may want to do...

Thanks!

:lmao: I'm one of those Disney "nuts" and I'm not sure if we will make it there. I'm even feeling a little 'unfaithful' about it!:scratchin There just seems to be so much to do in SF!

So I will be keeping my eye out as well for the reasons this is a must see.

I went up today and did our check in. I was able to schedule our spa also. However, Palo Brunch was all booked up! Palo Brunch is one of our favorites! I guess it is to be expected with only 2 sea days. Any ways, last time we were on the Wonder, my oldest daughter put in a request for our group plus a few other people on the disboards to have brunch in the private room in Palo and her request was granted.

I am willing to make this request if we have a group of 12-14 people who have not signed up for Brunch already and would like to have a group brunch. It's not guaranteed that we will get the private room but hey if we get it, it'll be an excellent meal. What a way to get to know each other!

If you didn't get a Palo Brunch and would like to be signed up for a group Brunch, let me know. You can PM me and I will compile a list. I will need the number of adults, names and ressie numbers. When we hit 12 (the minimum), I will make the request. 14 is the maximum. I would want to make the request as soon as possible!

Bon appetit!

Linda

I tried sending a PM but not sure it worked? ... Are we anywhere close to getting the numbers we need? I've been reading elsewhere on the boards and the brunch is apparently something you don't want to miss out on!

Hi Liz, I did get your PM and I will respond here as well. We are still at 6 and we need 12-14 and even then we are not guaranteed the room.

Palo Brunch is a meal not to be missed! We love it! The reason I am arranging the group Palo is because Palo Brunch is sold out. This will give those who didn't get a ressie an opportunity to have brunch and meet some new friends. If you go up and find a Palo Brunch, snatch it up! If we get the room, you can then decide to keep your ressie or go with the group.

Palo Brunch is normally only done on sea days. There are only 2 sea days while normally there are 3 so 1/3 of the reservations normally available are not on these cruises.

As the trip gets closer, more people will tune into the boards to see what is going on and we should get the numbers.

Trust me, I don't want to miss Palo Brunch.

Anyone else not get a Palo Brunch and want to sign up to possibly get the private room at Palo for brunch? We have 6 and need 6 more before we can make the request. PM me or post here.

Thanks!

Linda

We might do Sea World, but if the weather is sunny I'm pining for Castaway Cay and would like at least one beach day. :sunny:
Has anyone been to San Diego's Belmont Shores / Wave House recently? If it’s half as good as their website, it seems like a great way to spend the day in San Diego. :beach:
http://www.belmontpark.com/tickets

It looks like we could ride the famous 1925 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster ($6 ea), rent a locker ($5), sit on the beach and play in the surf (free or rent a chair or boogie board?), chill in the spa (all-day pass $5 ea), ride a "wave" ($20/hr +$10 - DD only) and finish the day in the Historic Plunge (Adults $7, Kids $6) ... all that for about $88. Add a rental car at $52 :car: and it’s $140 ... that’s pretty affordable for 3 of us for a beach day (avg. $47 ea).

If you want to change it up…they also have laser tag, laser maze, ropes challenge and a lot more rides.

We'll make sure to get back on the Wonder reasonably early... it's movie night :3dglasses popcorn:: and Pirate Night pirate:

We don’t set sail until 9:30, so if you want to stay at the beach a little later and are looking for a different kind of party… the Belmont Shores website shows that The Wave House has Lei’d Back Friday starting at 6 pm with Reggie music, 50% off Wave Rides and drink specials. :rockband:

Locals let me know the inside scoop. Last time I was at Belmont Shores was around 1973 and my mommy had to drive me :rotfl2:

Hi Decided to add our name to the Cruise. This will be our first West Coast cruise. We have been on eight cruises from the East Coast. Will definately miss Castaway Cay but we are looking forward to San Franciso. Its just myself and my DH going. We do have reservations for Palo's on our first seaday and now I'm worried that that may be our Character Breakfast. Does anyone know when the Character Breakfast will be. Maybe it is in this thread and I just missed it. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Welcome Princess Kaye! I don't think we have been able to determine when the character breakfast will be, just that there definitely will be one. I've been reading the other WC threads also and haven't seen anything.

And speaking of reading the other threads... I found this on the September 16th one:

>>Pub Crawl - Day 2 (First At Sea Day) - Meet in Diversions (Deck 3) at 10pm and we'll work our way around the ship!!

Cabin Crawl - Day 5 (Second at Sea Day) - Meet in the Lobby Atrium (Deck 3) at 2:30pm - we will give each other a tour of our cabins to see what options are available on the ship.<<

Anyone here interested in doing the same?

Liz

We're having Brunch the other sea day. Are there ever two days with Character Breakfasts? If so we're either both in luck... or we trade :) If it's one sea day or another, one of us will be beggin' :scratchin

There is always 3 days with character breakfast. On our cruise 2 of the 3 days will be when we are at sea and 1 will be a day we are in port. I don't know what port day it will be but we could probably start figuring that out after the first Pixar cruise completes. Most likely it will be the 2nd SF day
