September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

Ok, so I'm a bit of a night owl. :Pinkbounc THis is the last one for the night.

Below are the available rotations for our cruise:

Rotation 1 - TAPAPTA

Rotation 2 - APTPTAP

Rotation 3 – PTATAPT

T = Tritons

P = Parrot Cay

A = Animators Palate

So how does this work? Do we select which rotation we want or is it assigned? Is one better than the other?

We are late night seating...anyone else we might see there? :scratchin

Thanks, Hollywood Glitter!!

This is awesome... although surprises are nice. Knowing when to book Palo is fantastic!

We knew nothing on our first cruise... but it wasn't exactly on a schedule. We arived at WDW just in time for Hurricane Francis. We had to "honker down" at AS Movie and the cruise got a late start. Our 7-day Eastern became a 4-day Western. Nothing followed the plan and no Castaway Cay.

That made the schedule on our second cruise a surprise as well. Although Hurricane Irene changed our route to Western again on Year 2, the schedule stayed on track... as far as I know :-)
Year 3 we finally got our 7-Day Eastern :beach:

It's pre-assigned, you'll find out which rotation you have once you board. If you would like to swap you can talk to guest services and they'll do their best to accommodate you I am sure, but sometimes that's just not possible.
There is really no difference between them, you won't miss out on something you'll just get it on another night. The only reason I can see for wanting to swap is if you say, really, really wanted to be seated in Tritons on formal night or something like that. Hope that helps!

We've never requested a server before, but I think we might try to request our head server this time. On our MR cruise in Jan our server, Geffrey was so brilliant and then we found out on the last night that he was being promoted to Head Server! We were the last table he had, that was pretty cool. We really hope he's onboard, hoping to get in his rotation!

We're late seating as well.... maybe we'll see you. Breakfast and lunch is open seating in the restaurants and the buffet, so you're bound to see everyone at a meal eventually :cool2:

The rotation and dinner seating is assigned... and we've always been matched with table mates that were a great fit. As with everything Disney, I'm betting you can change you dining when you board if you made a special request. Personally I'd like to be in Parrot Cay for Pirate Night and Triton's for Formal Night, but it doesn't even rotate that way. :rotfl2:

Maybe someone else has a reason one rotation is better than another... but I can't say it really matters. Any theme of the night is carried flawlessly through all three restaurants. You're in each restaurant 2-3 times, so even going to Palo you won't miss anything :thumbsup2

Last Call on Cruise Name VOTING...

Pixar-Perfect California Port-Hoppers

Super Cali-Fragilistic Disney Cruise

Woody's West Coast Round Up

To SF and Beyond

The INCREDIBLE California Coasters

If you haven't voted yet, please post which one you love best... :love:

DH Chuck likes The INCREDIBLE California Coasters
I vote for Woody's West Coast Round Up

Question to those who are voting for To SF and Beyond... should it be SF, SanFran or San Francisco? Definately not Frisco... I just read that it's the local "F" word. (click virtualtourist.com -San Francisco Nicknames then scroll down to read the post "Don't use the F Word" for this and other helpful tips to stay in the good graces of the locals).

There was some feedback that our cruise name shouldn't be a single port like San Francisco. What do you think? Is there something better that keeps the Buzz Lightyear quote? To The Coast and Beyond? To The Golden Gate and Beyond? :confused:

Hi everyone, I'm on the Sept 16th sailing and someone from your sailing may have already shared this info but in case they hadn't -

I emailed DCL and asked which nights were planned for pirate, semi-formal and formal night on our cruise before I booked Palo & nursery time and got this reply. Thought I'd share with anyone else interested!

"7-Night Pacific Coast Cruise
*Nights 1, 3, 4, 7: cruise casual
*Night 2: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.
*Night 5: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for
women: gown or dress
*Night 6: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
"

I need to thank katds10 on the on the Sept 16th sailing for the original post :flower3:

FOUND THIS ON THE PORT AUTHORITY WEB SITE
WANTED TO POST IT SO YOU WILL GET AN IDEA OF WHAT TIME THE SHIP WILL BE GOING UNDER THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE FOR THOSE WONDERFUL PHOTO'S - FOG PERMITTING OF COURSE!

My favorite is To SF... and Beyond

My sister and I love the idea of the bracelets but because we live so far away were afraid they wont get here in time and shipping is very expensive. Is there any way we could collect ours from the meet up at 3PM on the Sunday? If not then don't worry about us :)

61 Days until we leave New Zealand!! :banana:

No Problem...Can completely see your point!! Will be ready and waiting for you on the ship!

The dinning rotations are pre-assigned but you can put in a request for a specific dinning rotation or server but it's not guaranteed. It only matters if your trying to book Palo, a meal off the ship or want to be in a specific restaurant on a given night. It's matters most on the cruises for less days but here you get every restaurant twice and one three times so there's a lot of flexibility.

We are late night seating too:thumbsup2

I voted for this one and I like it as the full name, San Francisco instead of any of the nick names.

We were assigned the Parrot Cay for Pirate Night and Triton's for Formal night on our last cruise at the request of someone in our party of 18 so sometimes they do grant the request. And you are right, that rotation is not available on this cruise any ways.

The only thing that I would not want to miss is the show in Animator's Palate the first night you dine in there. That might be a reason to schedule Palo dinner later in the week. If you find that it conflicts, after you get onboard you can go to Wavebands, I think it is Wavebands, and talk to the Dining desk about changing your rotation or the Palo desk about changing your reservation. There is also a Spa representative here to make any changes or arrange spa appointments. I want to say it opens at 1:00 p.m. but I can't remember.

Here's a question about dining...will there be a character breakfast? I always thought the character breakfasts were on sea days and that they were in Parrot Cay so each rotation had a character breakfast on a sea day in Parrot Cay. With only 2 sea days will they not do a character breakfast or have two character breakfasts going on at once...spreading Mickey and Friends real thin :rotfl:

I bet we will have character breakfasts... Especially with the Pixar characters aboard! Likely there will be multiple seating times. I'm hoping our seating fits with our Palo brunch time ... Or I'll be the one beggin' at Waves!

I've seen where several folks are planning on going to the Walt Disney Museum while in SF and spending quite a bit of time there. I'd never heard of this museum until I read about it on this board.

What can you tell me about it?

Why would someone who is not a Disney "nut" want to go?

Just trying to see if this is something we may want to do...

Thanks!

Thanks, it certainly does. We'll take what we get, as first time cruisers we don't know any better anyway :)

It would be fun to be seated with someone from the DIS boards :) I noticed each rotation has 1 restaurant where you are at three times while the other are two. So I think the only change I might request is to the one that our Palo reservation falls on that third dining night.
