September 29,2013 - DVC Member Cruise

I think it sounds amazing! Love to do something like this for DW and my 10 year anniversary in 2016 ( planning ahead with points etc ). I love hot tubs! But because of a medication I am on it lowers my immune system so I cannot go in the main hot tub that others use in case of infections. So having my own would be perfect!
We would love to pop by! I would love to meet you all :-) I want some of those disney lounge pants! Where did she get them!

Yes! A private hot tub would be ideal for you.

I'm not sure where Cass found them but I'll ask. Just to give you an idea of the character she is, look what she ran around the lobby of the WDW Dolphin Hotel wearing on Christmas Eve a fews years back. :lmao::lmao:

Even though we will not be cruising together anymore, I'd like to share this photo I took. One of the cool things about living in Los Angeles.

What an awesome event to witness. Looks like you were able to get really close. Great picture.

Really sorry we aren't going to be cruising on this trip.

It was cool. Walking distance from where I live. It was maybe 100 feet from me. To bad about this cruise. I am just glad my friend is just rolling with the punches.

Alan, thats amazing. It makes me remember when we visited the Smithsonian Air and Space museum at Dulles Airport. They have the shuttle Discovery as a centerpiece where we were able to walk right up to it. It gave me chills.

Thanks. I have never been this close, but I grew up in the aerospace because my dad worked for Hughes Aircraft. He knew so many of the NASA people at JPL. I have had NASA seats for landings out here near Los Angeles at Edwards Air force Base. I have never been this close to a actual one. I did get to tour a mock up at Rockwell when I was about 10 or 11. That was cool, but not the real thing.

Thanks for posting that pic. I'll bet it was awesome being that close to a piece of history. I saw on this mornings news how involved it was to move to its new home, from cutting down trees to temporarily removing light posts and traffic lights. Amazing that they could do this.

We have resolved that we will not be on this cruise as well. It seems from information gathered that is cruise has been chartered. Be it DVC or someone else. Either way, we have to find another option. While I wish Disney would contact us to know everything for sure, we need to go ahead and make plans.

I did an edit to the post because i realized i had already mentioned the possibility of doing a cruise this December . I was excited to see it is not too late for us to join the FE for that cruise since they opened a second group.

Questions still remain. But it is looking like this cruise will only be for those that are eligible to go on based on whoever chartered the boat. (Which at this point we are assuming is DVC)

I feel blessed to have "met" such wonderful people and hopefully our paths will cross again.

PI and JQ- thank you for trying by linking our staterooms but it looks like we will be changing our cruise plans sooner rather than later.

Lol re Cass! I have so got to meet her and you all. You sound my kind of people!

Hmmm ... Twice the price... Paid in full... Yikes!

I have been researching options. I checked the military rates to see what might potentially be available next year. I was shocked at the cost of a 7 night on the Fantasy. I offhandedly mentioned to my husband and was surprised by his response. He decided to just see if there was a chance he could get leave and another shocker- he can. So now the dilemma, do we go for a seven night in December this year!! Or wait for this to pan out and see what happens.

If they do let us keep our reservation but it cost a lot more then we would change to another anyways. Plus I don't know if they would let us keep the same room which I picked specifically for the balcony. Oh, the 7 night would be in an inside and we have only had balcony rooms so I am not sure how tight that would be.

Ugh! This is hard!

Thoughts?

Regina, are you saying you've now officially moved to a Fantasy 2012 December sail using a military discount????

I plan on doing the actual booking on Monday after my DH and I talk this weekend about the budget part since it has to be paid in full at time of booking. So I am not getting to excited yet because anything can happen. Of course after this I may decide last minute cruise plans are better anyway. It kind of stinks when you make all these plans so far ahead and they change things.

I had called and talk to a CM a couple days ago. Nothing new but seemed a little more real after talking to him. He at first didn't know anything. Then came back to the phone and said "this is what I have been 'authorized' to say" He then read a statement about the someone being interested in chartering the cruise, nothing finalized, Disney would contact guest about changing. I asked about if it were a DVC would it make a difference if the reservations were linked. He said no they would have to be booked by DVC member. :(

If we wait to hear from Disney it could be too late for the December cruise.

Once we a actually book I will get excited. :)

PI: Cass looks like a lovely and fun person. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet her.

Gerberdaisy: We booked an unexpected cruise when we went the 2nd of Sept to Canada. We booked in early July, which is out of the ordinary as we are usually booked a year or more in advance. It was fun planning. JQ and PI also did that early this past summer. We would definately book on short notice again, especially since the fare is usually so much cheaper.
Good luck with your plans and have a wonderful time.

Seems timing is always the challenge. Kris is right, we did it on short notice with no idea what to expect and it worked out great.

I see several hurdles to consider when we're contacted. So far I have not yet managed to gain answers to these few:

will a non-member rebook be required thru a member? (should be easy to do)
will the cruise need to be paid in full?
will all prices be grandfathered? (still digging)
and can we keep the Roy?

Worse case is moving which was mentioned on a quick thread I read here - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2834553

Glad to hear Cass isn't scaring anyone away!! she's celebrating a big birthday on the ship so lookout!!!

Well for those who are interested I finally managed to locate the thread Husurdady was referring to:

This is such a sad situation though since this 10/21/12 cruise was changed a second time and the members cruise officially became 9/16/12. Many who were bumped are getting ready to leave port right now!!!!

Amazing!!!

:maleficenI call DCL again this morning for about the 4th time. My DD is kind of uspset and most moms would agree I think, we don't like seeing our kids upset, we love seeing that Disney smile on there faces. I was told (again) no private charter has been confirmed yet and to keep calling back. I think that it might as well be a recording, the answer is always the same. But I also think we should be voices heard, so if anyone has the time...:mic:call and inquire. For some of us it's not just an easy "switch to a different cruise with an on board credit". We chose this cruise for a reason. We've been here longer..."they" need to pick another.:boat:

I think its very bad of DCL to make people wait like this. For whatever reason be it a honeymoon, birthday or because that date works for your family, people have selected this cruise and vacations are special to them. They are the time when we are suppose to leave our stress behind, indulge in the magic of Disney with our loved ones. We look forward to it, plan around it, save for it. We trust in Disney with this special time that it will be magical.

So to have the very thing that breaks us from the stress and confusion of everyday life actually put stress on us is not fair. They need to contact people now with their options. If you are in the business of making dreams come true then expect people to get passionate when you move the goalpost!

Come on DCL we are waiting!

Amazing!!!

Hopefully this happens with our cruise - holding ours "hostage" till they decide when to actually insert the DVC cruise, with any luck it would be the 9/15 cruise.

I'm sure we all wholeheartedly agree with Paula. And if they move the cruise to another date that will put a whole different lot of people out of luck. Not right at all on DCL's part.

In the meantime, on the chance that we don't get on this cruise and if DCL DOES allow you to change to any other 4 night cruise at the price this was booked at, we will probably switch to the Dec 29th 4 night Bahama. DH always wanted to cruise over New Years, so might as well take advantage if we can.
Hope it doesn't happen, but we have an alternative to our advantage if it does.
