September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Ditto!! We have a big box for things we are getting together for the cruise ... sunscreen, chapstick, hooks for the shower so we can hang up wet bathing suits, a hanging shoe bag to hang on the bathroom door, etc!

So glad to see that others do this too! :) My guest room has basically become a holding area for all things cruise related!

We can't wait!!!

It is getting close!!

As soon as we get home from Disneyland (here for a few more days!!), I'm starting the packing too!! Doing the B2B with Jill so time to get serious!! Lots of Disney stuff this month for sure!!! :hippie:

.

So I have an autograph book that will be given the first day, so that all the characters can sign them. I am now wondering if I need another one for when my dd sees the characters and gets a picture taken with them. Thoughts?

I think they enjoy seeing the characters sign their books. You may want to take a pillow case to customer service for signatures and let her carry her autograph book.

I also have a holding area, and it is overflowing. Time to start putting all that stuff in suitcases!

We are taking a pillowcase to guest services for autographs, but I made an autograph book for my daughter to keep with her when she meets a character. At first, she said she didn't need an autograph book, but then she said she might like one. I know her. She'll want one! On the 3 night we did she didn't meet many characters, but I think she'll meet a lot on a 7 nt. especially having 3 at sea days. It seems like the characters are pretty abundant on the 7 night cruise.

We have always done 7 night cruises and there seemed to ALWAYS be characters around, and there were lots of meet and greets. When Reese was 5, we were in a glass elevator by ourselves, and it stopped on the next floor to pick up GOOFY! Him and his "cast member guide" person ride with just us all the way down. My boy was bedside himself :-)

I was planning on leaving my kids' autograph books with guest services (along with a photo mat) to be signed. Do most kids like it better to watch the characters sign? We always tote our autograph books all around WDW, and I was thinking it would be really nice not to have to do that on the cruise and just take pictures of the characters we see.

We don't do autographs or photos with characters, but I would say that most kids don't have autograph books with them at the meet and greets, from what I can recall seeing.

Does anyone know if the ship provides towels for when we get off the ship? We won't be doing Disney excursions.

I read somewhere that they provide them for beach days. Not quite sure what they mean by that, but I think you can at least use the ones that are by the pool...someone told me that. They do provide them when you get off at Castaway Cay, but I'm not sure about non-disney ports.

I have a question for the adult males in your cabins: Do they have a favorite NFL team? I need to finish FEs.

Only Who Dats allowed in New Orleans area! Although I am the one sent to my room to scream and holler at the game while he watches Disney with the kids. :hyper:

No NFL teams.. but the man does bleed a proud UT Lognhorn burnt orange. Does that help?

I am getting so excited, but feel so far behind on preparing. I printed out all our documents today and put them in a binder. I decided to take my little briefcase to put all paperwork in so I don't forget anything.

I've started an Excel spreadsheet on what to pack, but I'm sure I'm forgetting something. This is our 1st cruise. Any tips on what to bring? What do you wish you would have brought on your first cruise?

I have sun screen, insect repellant, camera, swimsuits, etc. You know the stuff on the Disney list, but I'm sure there are things that would make the trip easier, so please let me know.

What about toys? Are any of your children insisting on bringing something?

:thumbsup2

First... THANK YOU for saying that... I am feeling so behind and everyone else seems to have so much done already... had a bit of a panic attack today.

Second... had to laugh, I thought I was the only one who created packing spreadsheets... I feel like I've made my first cruise friend ;)

For packing... the biggest tip I have is bring any medicines you even think you might need. For what it costs to purchase a tiny bottle of advil, etc on the ship you can put together a fairly decent mini medicine kit. Also consider bringing a sharpie... for some reason they always seem to come in handy. :thumbsup2

Only bringing one **toy** and it's a clear plastic tube filled with multi colored beads and has like 25 little things in it...took my daughter to the local Children's Museum and this one, a Wizard of Oz themed tube was in the gift shop. You shake it and see if you can find the items...like the red ruby shoe, Dorothy's basket, Toto, a little Emerald City, etc. Was going to make one with a water bottle, beads and random small toys but this one was made already....figured it would pass the time on the airplane flight and on the long car rides to and from IAH to Galveston.

I agree about the medicines... every time we travel w/our daughter, I pack everything for every ailment! I also like to go to the pharmacy and pick up the pedialite pouches you add to water in case they get dehydrated or get sick (vomit & or the runs) and need fluids to rehydrate. I also bring fiber gummies to help her stay regular... as well as bandaids and neosporin ...of course I'm self diagnosed OCD!

Just this evening I started laying out all of my daughters clothes for each day and trying to figure out what she'll need (I kind of feel like I'm packing WAY too much).

My daughter is bringing 4 princess gowns to wear for dinners and a pirate-ish outfit - so that leaves 2 more dinner outfits...

I may just have to start a spreadsheet too!

You are welcome! However, my sis-in-law, Aimee (Belle6000) is the Queen of organization. She is soooo much better than I am. I got out of the habit of making them when some friends kept making fun of me. Now I'm trying to get back in the habit because it makes life easier for ma and my family.

The medicine (1st aid kit) is a good idea. Aimee had mentioned it to me as well. I'll pack some Benadryl just in case and tylenol. We hardly ever need anything, but if we don't bring it...well...you know you'll wish you had! ::yes::

Aimee mentioned a closet shoe organizer and a power strip. Both good ideas I think. I'm sure there is so much more I'm not thinking about. :worried:
