September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

My sister and I will be dressed for Pirate night also. I'm not quite sure what I will be doing for formal and semi-formal night. I have clothes ready, but I am having a LOT of edema in my left foot (so bad that wearing a tennis shoe caused bruising.) I may just have to get dressed up and wear flip-flops with a minimal strap near my toes.....I know not picture perfect and not what Disney wants. If they can't get it under control, it is either flip-flops or barefoot! I have been dealing with this for months and it is getting worse instead of better.

I hope u feel better soon, I will add u to my prayers

Hi, Everyone! We're booked to sail out with y'all on Sept. 29 and are so excited! I'm Josie, and DH Keith and I will be traveling from DFW with DD Amelia, 5, and DS Phillip, who will be 3 by the trip. My parents (aka Pop and Grammy) will be in an adjoining stateroom--always so great to have the Grands along! We're in 1066 and 1068 (hoping for peace and quiet and minimal ship movement :)). It is DH and my second time cruising (we did a Southern Caribbean out of Puerto Rico with RCL in March of 2011), but first time as a family (and first time with DCL, of course).

Haven't decided for sure on excursions yet, but I think this time around we're going to do all three ports on our own--Stingray City with Captain Marvin's (which came highly recommended from a good friend who cruises often) and likely beaches in the other two ports. I know we'll do this cruise again (SO convenient to be able to drive to Galveston), so we'll do some of the more exciting excursions when the kids get older.

I've been reading through the posts, getting to know everyone :)...haven't decided yet whether we want to do the FE this time around, Piper...is there still an August deadline for participation? I like how you guys are keeping the groups to 10-15 cabins.

Will we also be planning to do a face-to-face meetup on board?

Welcome, Josie and family. We're glad to have you with us! There is still an August deadline. That is to give people who are making their gifts time to complete them. As of now, we have 2 groups. If you want to join, let me know.

Everybody join in now (to the tune of 99 bottles of beer)

99 days until we sail, 99 days to go. Everyone ready to have some fun, 99 days to go!

Fyi....my travel agent contacted me today and said that Disney discounted verandah rooms to the price of oceanview rooms. He was able to call and save me over $700 :cool1:

It's been a good day!

It's been a good day!

We got an email last night too! Our TA called this morning and we went from a secret porthole room to a veranda for about $100 more!!! We're so excited! Such an awesome deal!

I was contacted yesterday morning, but unfortunately couldn't take advantage of it. Too many expensive meds!

Don't forget to change your room numbers on the FE list!

My room is the same since I was already booked in a verandah, just got the savings :goodvibes

I've been working on FEs all weekend (taking a break from wedding stuff) and they're almost done!!!

Those of you who haven't given me colors, you will just have to be surprised ;)

Julia737 - I still need Eliana's size if you don't mind, thank you!

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

We took advantage of the offer too! Our room is now 6552 and our friends' 6554. I'll update the FE list, too.

We upgraded via our travel agent as well! Now in 6068 and 6070 (and she was still able to get us midship location :cheer2: and adjoining staterooms :cheer2: )! Hopefully this won't spoil us for future cruises, but this one will be a particularly good one to have a verandah, since DS, 3, will HOPEFULLY be taking some afternoon naps--I'll have to fight my mom for who gets to stay in the room with him and read on the balcony for two hours in the afternoon :)!

So excited. We got an offer from our TA too. We moved from connecting insides to connecting balcony cabins. We are now in 7028 and 7030. I will update the FE list as well. :dance3:

Hello Y'all!
I'm trying to organize my Oct 2012 schedule & was wondering if any of you experienced cruisers know approx. what time our ship will arrive back into port on Oct. 6th and approx. what time we'll be able to get off the ship?

Thanks!

Typically the ship will land at the dock between 4am and 7am. Passengers will disembark between 8am-12pm. The process of disembarkation, claiming bags, clearing customs, and retrieving a car can take as little as 30 minutes and up to 2 hours. Those with passports tend to move the fastest through immigration. and those with flights booked through the cruiseline tend to get off first to make their airport transfers. Not sure if Disney allows it but some cruiselines allow you to carry off your own luggage and leave at your leisure. You can likely check with your TA to find out.

Hope this helps.

We just confirmed this sailing yesterday. We were originally booked on the Halloween Cruise, but this will mean one less day of missing school for my daughter. (and it is one month sooner!!)

Info added to FE list.

See you in 3 months!!

I just noticed that the FE list has changed. I thought the first group was final. I've already done personalized items. :(
HappyTexasMom is no longer in our group. I wanted to 'get ahead' but maybe I should wait?

Hey there, I'm in both groups, for some reason I thought happytexasmom was too...hmmmmm

Just looked at the list again and think there is something funky going on with it....it appears those of us who wanted to be in both groups are only showing up in the second one right now.

Not sure what's happening with it, but don't worry I'm sure Piper will fix it when she gets a chance.

I hear ya on the getting ahead, I'm about 95% done with my FEs and they are all bagged up. I have a couple more things to make, then labels and then I should be done :cool1:

Now I just have to worry about how to pack this all! I may have gone a little overboard :lmao: but at least we're driving and not flying!
