September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Has anyone heard about this yet? I thought some here might be interested.

"Most of the 2013 8-Night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston have been changed to a combination of 4- and 8-night Bahamas itineraries. Some of these will include a stop at Port Canaveral Florida and one-day park hoppers to Walt Disney World."

I have not heard about this, but it sounds great!! Would they go to Castaway Cay too? That's the one drawback to this cruise out of Galveston...we have to miss Castaway Cay.

The 8 night cruises go to Castaway now :)

Please don't shoot me but my cousin's room number was wrong. I have now corrected it. The room number is 8540. Sorry guys and gals. I guess the excitement is getting to me. Lol

No problem about changing room numbers! Some people might even have a change when they board. That is why the Dismeet at 3 p.m. is so important...so we can find out the last minute changes. Plus it will be fun to put faces to names!

Okay, so Disney fixed the problem :) Looks like we will be staying in 8008 ... room has been updated on FE list :) Getting excited! Called all the hotels and the company driving us from the airport to our hotel and back and confirmed all that too :) Now... I am tempted to call the airlines and confirm... but it says *there's no need to call and confirm* right on the Expedia page... :( I think they put that there just for paranoid people like me :(

Journal/Autograph Books: Reminder.... Anyone else interested in having a very special and personalized journal/autograph book please let me know ASAP. We are getting close to cruising time and I would like to make sure anyone wanting ones gets one. Please PM me for more info if you are interested in them. The cost is $35.

Got my daughter's yesterday, but she was sooooo enthralled with it she wouldn't let me look at it :( Got to take a peek today, and I must say, it's VERY cute! She loves it and we haven't even started filling it out! **I must say the pencil pouch is a GREAT idea... she's already stuffed it so full it barely closes!**

Nice--don't forget to put it on the FE list!

Speaking of FEs......

I know this was probably decided already, but can't find when the cutoff is for the "Latecomers" FE group?? I'm guessing at the end of this month, but want to be sure to make enough stuff & buy extra pixiedust:!!

TIA :hippie:

Have you looked at the Disboutiquer's thread on the family board. We are on thread #29. There are hundreds and hundreds of ideas on there!

Thanks Piper!

I've already made her a "minnie" dress that's personalized, a "pirate night" shirt and a belle gown. Along with an embroidered/personalized apron for autographs... The rest, I just purchased. Although, after looking at some of the photos, I may just have to sew up some more!

See you soon!

Wow....we've been super active!

I've been crazy busy over here finishing up wedding planning and all that other fun stuff.

So ready for the cruise to just get here!!!!

I've signed up for the tasting, I'll bring the hubby along but he won't be tasting anything :)

FEs are pretty much done, and mostly packaged up. I need to add labels and a couple of extra items before I pack them in a suitcase or box or whatever I can fit them in!!! :rotfl:

I am so glad you and your daughter loved the book. I try hard to make it a great way to document and remember the cruise. It also gives the kids something to work on. Thank you for the kind words. I'll recognize her when she is running around with it...lol

It's official! We got our official DCL documents today.

Did anyone else get theirs yet?

Does anyone know if Disney provides towels for you for excursions? I know they provide them onboard and when you get off at Castaway Cay, but what about if you get off at Costa Maya or Grand Cayman and plan to go to the beach? I'm really hoping they do...4 towels would take up a lot of room in our luggage!

And I ran across this site when trying to find the answer to that question. It has really good packing tips.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise-line/packing.htm

I have a fold up bag that even has little wheels that I took last time we cruised. It's very small to pack, but unfolds to a nice size. I used it to carry off the liquor we bought in the bahamas. It was a very handy thing to have along!

The site also suggests zip ties for your luggage. I had to laugh when I read it because I thought we were the only ones who zip tied our luggage! :rotfl2: It was my husband's idea, but it works great and we do it on all our trips. That way, if they need to be opened security won't have to break a lock. And, let's face it, those luggage locks are easy to pick so it keeps our things more secure as well. We just pack a small pair of fold up scissors in an outer pocket so we can cut them off and then we pack extras for the trip home.

Getting so excited about this cruise!!! :goodvibes
Still haven't gotten my cruise documents though...hopefully soon.

No docs for us yet!

You can take DCL towels when you leave the ship. They usually have them at the exit but you can also take them from the pool that morning.

We also use zipties. so easy, just don't forget scizzors to cut them off when you get to your destination. :)

We have always used zip ties. We travel with a lot of expensive scuba gear and cameras. The zip ties work great and usually if TSA cuts them off they will replace them. We just use fingernail clippers to cut them.

I don't think we are dressing up for pirate night. I'm getting hats for our little guys and have thought about making vests. Maybe I should check back with the adult kids... Do a lot of people dress up on pirate night?

Not a whole lot dressed up on the 3 night, but I've heard that lots of people do on the longer cruises. I believe Disney also gives pirates in the caribbean bandanas out at the pirate dinner so those and a little eye patch or something would be really easy for little kids. My son is 14, but he's going to wear black shorts with a white T shirt, some sort of bandana and an eye patch...and maybe a black vest. It will be "pirate-y" but still using pretty basic clothes. My daughter and I will wear black skirts with white blouses. We add a red sash around the waist and maybe one as a head band.

Not 100% of the people will dress up though. I think some people just wear a pirate T shirt or something simple like that. pirate:

OMgosh!!!! This is only my second time to post. I can't believe how soon the cruise is now. We are very excited, but I have been so busy setting up our DD in homeschool that I haven't had much time for anything else. This week will be different! I will start on our FE and the gifts.

We did receive our "Important Notice to Guests" from Disney Cruise Lines in the mail today. EEEEEEEE. :cool1:

This is our first cruise. We are mostly following Aimee on this one. She's our cruise director (although she doesn't know I call her that.) :)

Okay, the count down is on!!:hourglass

Will there be a list of everyone's stateroom for the FE?

You can find the FE list link in my signature below. Be sure you click on the one for the 29th. I am on a B2B so I also have the one for the 22 as well.
