September 29, 2007 - Magic

I'm starting to think the neighbors took them.. ...I knew the were jealous...cause we are going...but this is just mean....lmao..:lmao:

Christa! I just now figured out why you haven't received your docs. They are saving the best for last!!!!! DCL first has to confirm every single cruiser has received theirs before they can release yours! :hippie:

We leave in exactly 5 days! I still haven't started packing or even got a list together yet. HELP!! I don't want to even think about how many bags we are going to have. REALLY it's NOT me with all of the clothes it's my HUSBAND!!! You should see him pack....

I believe you because my DH is the same. I can pack me and the 2 kids all in one case (for shorter trips, of course) using our medium case and DH fills up the big case all on his own. He also takes A LOT LONGER to pack, too. But I should be grateful I don't have to pack him, usually. This time it will be different because I'm going to pack a little of everyone in to every single case in case a piece of luggage goes missing. Better safe than sorry!

Good morning everyone! It's a gloomy day here in the O.C. it rained last night.

5 more days!!!!!!!!!!!! and we'll be in Florida!

Lori and Maria: Thanks for sharing your sweet stories. I wish I could take my mom on the cruise.. but she's a teacher and she can't leave! My dream is to take her to a pilgrimage (Catholic) in Europe. She's already been to Italy and Sweden but she hasn't been to the South of France where she really wants to go.... aaaaaaaahhh maybe in the next year or so. I think we really need to take care of our aging parents when it's their turn 'coz they certainly took good care of us.

Anywhooo.. let's do the "I'm going on a cruise dance"!!! :dancer: I was dreaming of all your beautiful faces last night........ I can't wait to meet you all!

Here is a picture of us 2 years ago at Animal Kingdom.:simba: Boy did we stand out like a sore thumb. We were asked constantly where we bought our shirts.:lmao:

Cool shirts llarkiniii .....love your family photo !!!

Well, we had vomit last night!!! My DS (4) kept telling me his tummy didn't feel right. Hopefully, it is a 24 hour thing and we'll all be well by Friday.
Oh no pwnort64 ! I think we are sharing all of our viruses through cyber space here ! Sure hope your little one feels better soon. Don't want any of us getting denied passage by the DCL medical staff !!!

Thanks for sharing your sweet stories. I wish I could take my mom on the cruise.. but she's a teacher and she can't leave! My dream is to take her to a pilgrimage (Catholic) in Europe.
Thanks Pauline. I think it's wonderful about taking your mom to a pilgrimage. We also took my mil to a local one of sort here (it was Padre Pio). I'm sure your mom would treasure a trip like that with you.

BTW....rainy and cloudy here as well. Of course I have off from work today. Now tommorrow is supposed to be sunny and 80 and I have to work ! Where's the justice I ask ??!! :rotfl:

I'm packing and packing....and cleaning and cleaning today.......
haircut for DS and me
go to Home Depot to get Disney paint chips to complete door-decoration-look
buy photo mat because I am now convinced I need one
cruise laundry-for all our new cruise clothes
re-write my "need to buy in Florida" list because I learned yesterday you cannot take aeresol on the plane, even in checked baggage (thanks Irene!)
call Checkered Cab about transportation to the terminal
JD...your list looks good.......oh no.....I have aerosol ! I must take it though ! What is the reason for it do u know ? Mine is a tiny room air freshner can from Bath & Body. I never leave home without it. I do pack it in a checked bag. I have never been questioned. If I cannot bring it.....does anyone know of a Bath and Body near WDW ? They have these tiny little room freshner cans that I must have.
Has anyone checked-in online yet for the cruise ? I'm doing that right now.

Cool!!!!!! Where DID you buy your shirts?????

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

We actually didn't buy them we made them.:artist: There were some instructions on Disboards about how to make different types of designed shirts and one of them was the Mickey Head tie dye. :laundy:

If you think we are loud, imagine now Beck's Mom and her family also being there with these shirts. When I say we stood out:scared1: , people probably thought we were street performers:joker: or something. We could have jumped into the parade and not been noticed.

Love the shirts!!! I wish my tye-dye shirt had a Mickey Head on it. My parents made tye-dye shirts for everyone (party of 11) when we went to Disneyland last year. The CM's loved it because in line, they could figure out where our party ended. And it certainly made it easy for us to find each other in the crowds!! :thumbsup2

JD...your list looks good.......oh no.....I have aerosol ! I must take it though ! What is the reason for it do u know ?

At the TSA web site, it sites that no aerosol is allowed in carry-on or checked baggage. We're the "better safe than sorry" family. They've taken stuff away from DH at check-in and/or security so we'd rather buy it on the other side than risk getting to the airport here and have them take it away from us. I copied the info below but here is the link for everyone: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#8

As far as if there's a Bath and Body near WDW, I just read a TR where they mention going to the mall near WDW so I imagine that mall would have one. You could always go to Bath and Body's web site and search for locations!

Flammable Items Carry-on Checked
Aerosol (any except for personal care or toiletries in limited quantities) No No
Fuels (including cooking fuels and any flammable liquid fuel) No No
Gasoline No No
Gas Torches No No
Lighter Fluid No No

And yes, I checked in for the cruise a couple of months ago, when we were all in receipt of our passports!! :woohoo:

So nice of you LAWAlz......brings back memories for me. Dh's mom was hospitalized one Christmas week back in 2001. We found out she had cancer on Christmas eve. We shortly after, booked a Disney cruise because we knew she had wanted to go on one for awhile and deep in our hearts, we knew we wouldn't have her long. We paid for my mil to go and went on a 4 day Wonder cruise in 11/02. She was sooooo happy on that cruise. Sadly, she lost her fight in 8/04. Whenever we plan and go on a disney cruise we think of her. We used to take her on vacation with us all the time. My youngest dd wrote a poem about her last year in school which has been hanging on our refrigerator since then. I am glad my kids have the memory of that cruise with her....among other terrific times to treasure.

Here is a picture of one of the last times we vacationed with her and she was so happy and relaxed (she was all of 4 foot 10 inches tall and a ball of energy) :

Thanks for letting me share that memory with you all. Not to sound philisophical, but time is so precious with family.
So LAWalz....what you're doing for your mom and dad is so wonderful. Hope your mom is doing well and you all have a wonderful time on the cruise. Your parents are lucky to have you !

Some great people on this thread!! So loving and caring!

Wow!! Those look TOO good to be hand/homemade.. you did an awesome job! :thumbsup2

Me too.. packing and cleaning.... weather has cleared up and it's sunny once again down here in the O.C. so we're bbq :)

Hhhmmm I've never packed an air freshener before, so I guess I'm gonna have to leave it at home and just buy one when I get to Fl. We'll have time to get some things that we've forgotten to bring.

Whoop whoop! Disney Cruise Line here we come!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Lori: We should be finished with the checklist and labels by Monday. Can you make copies at work? Maybe we can hand out a roster/checklist to people who want it.. just in case we want to get together for coffee or meet at the pool etc... I don't think there's a psycho  in this group.. sick in the heads maybe.. but no axe murderer

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: You are hilarious, Pauline. I literally busted out laughing.

Did you look at the web cam this morning and see the Magic? I told DD that this is the last time we'll see her at port when we won't be on her or getting ready to get on her!!! Oh man, that made my tummy flip flop big time!!! :woohoo:

I went to Home Depot and now I totally get why people say to get the paint chips there. They're already in the shape of the Mickey head!!!! I felt kind of funny picking up stacks of paint chips but then DD started picking out colors so I just went with it.

I also went to the party store looking for a lime green lei but they moved out all the tropical party stuff for Halloween stuff. Good thing I had already picked up lime green ribbon at Michael's just in case the party store didn't come through!! But the party store trip wasn't a total bust, I picked up glow necklaces, bracelets and sticks for the fam so I don't have to pay $$$ on the ship for them! DH did this :sad2: when I showed him my loot. He rolls his eyes now but he'll be thankful I'm saving him money later.

Oh!! Funny thing happend at the party store. This person bought this huge bunch of balloons and went outside, tied them to the antenna of their Beetle and drove off. The girls in the store were dying of laughter. :rotfl2: This guy had about 24 balloons tied to his roof. How many balloons do you think he made it home with? The driveway out of the parking lot at the store is lined with trees!

Load 2 of the laundry is in the washer now. :laundy: Of course, this is just the normal laundry, we haven't started on the "cruise" laundry! :rotfl2:

anyone want to chat???? i logged on to the link from last night.. i think we can still use the chat room

That's a beautiful gesture and it would certainly have been a good incentive for ME to get well. :flower: Is she doing Ok now? Hopefully this cruise will be very therputic for her and the rest of the family that is coming. Let's have a magical vacation no matter what! :tinker:

Thanks for asking!:) She is much better than when we booked but still has stamina and balance issues which is why we are bringing a wheechair for her. She still has a very low raspy voice because of the multiple intubations (they saved her life so we can't complain too much) and has had surgery for that too but has only had minimal improvement. She is really looking forward to this vacation, it will be the first time her and Dad have been away since she was sick.

Pauline, follow your dream and take your Mom and your daughter, too! Unfortunately in this country, sometimes we don't take care of aging parents or other relatives! I'll get off my soapbox now and do a happy dance!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

MiaSRN, thanks for sharing your story about your MIL. Sometime when I tell friends or coworkers about vacationing with family they don't really understand. But you take the time with parents while you can and make memories. :thumbsup2 Ha to go to a wake last night. A friend's mother died suddenly, she was only 60 years old!:sad2:

Another reminder of how quickly time passes. We can never reclaim the time we do not spend with family and friends.
