I want to echo some of the same sentiments about a vacation being priceless.......
You know, I could use some new furniture....my bathroom could use a rehab.....my kitchen would do good with a remodeling etc etc. But my kids are only going to be young once, so dh and I make sure we take these memorable vacations because kids grow up too fast. It seems like just yesterday, we took our first disney cruise and my youngest was 9 ! Now she is 14.....time just zips by. So whatever we paid for this trip is not important.....it's the memories that we're making that are priceless.

Pouring from 7-9pm is an oddity in central Florida. Usually the downpours are short-lived, so if you can find a dry spot to wait it out, it should be completely done within 30 minutes. We've had some odd weather in Orlando this week (I work in downtown, and we had hail twice in 20 minutes just two days before MNSSHP, and it poured like crazy for over an hour), but we have a high coming in. Hopefully that will end the funny weather, and you guys will have a great time. If it does rain, it should be fairly short-lived
Hi StaciJo......
We had two almost "all-day" rain events in WDW this past August. We were suprised because we're so used to the short-lived torrential downpours and then the sun comes out. We vacation in Orlando alot so we pretty much know what we can count on. But this past Aug 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd (can't remember exactly).....was just almost continually raining all day. In fact, it was so bad that one of those days the Orlando airport flooded from all the rain. I sure hope we don't see that kind of weather for our halloween party.......

okay I will try to make it, me and my two darlings, hey I am slightly[ I did say slightly] dimwitted so plain as it can be please, which side of castle , on steps, in side ect?
Those of you with special children, GOD bless you,They can be your greatest joy, along with a little heartache,I have a brother that is mentally challenged and mentally ill, I am his quardian,he now lives in a group home of approx 6-8 because he needs more then I can do and work 40 hours a week, but I love him with everything in me, he is coming home this Thurs through Sunday for a home visit, he is so excited,To Mike his "sissy " sits on a really high pedestal.and he will have a really hard week with me gone, but I don't feel right him thinking I went behind his back, he is pretty dependent on me, I have basically been it for him since I was 15.when we were left without parents and he was 16. okay enough but I think we have a single table early so if one of you needs to switch let me know, for your special little ones

You are a great sister and your brother is lucky to have you! Working in the field, I see a lot of folks that get "forgotten" by their families because it is hard work taking care of a relative with "special needs".

We take at least 2 major vacations a year and people sometimes shake their heads and tell me that my daughter isn't going to remember these places that we take her. I tell them that we don't take her places so that she could remember the places, we take her because we take FAMILY vacations as a family. Just because my DD is only 11 months old doesn't mean she can't go to Sweden with us.. it's our vacation and it doesn't matter if she remembers or not.. we enjoy spending time with her wherever we go.
This Disney cruise is not only for my DD's birthday, but it's for all 3 of us, spending time together having a great time.. that's what family vacation is all about. And we're super EXCITED!! :yay:

Nighty night.. I'm going to bed with only happy thoughts and not worry about the $$$ we've spent thus far on this vacation :teeth:

Pauline,
We are leaving our house at 3:23 pm----that's the time my youngest gets off the school bus. We are driving down to pick dh up from work (he works 10 min from the Philly airport). Then right to check-in for our 6:55 pm flight. We won't get to WDW until about 10 pm on Thurs. We'll probably head right to the food court because we'll be going on just a small bag of peanuts all evening/night.....:rotfl:

May I suggest you take some snacks in your carry on bags? popcorn::
I just flew NorthWest Airlines from Indianapolis to Minneapolis and a few days later flew back.
:guilty: NO SNACKS!! :confused3
Glad I had trail mix and energy bars in my bag!! :cool1:
We did get soda:drinking1 water :drinking: or coffee :coffee: but the little bags of chips would have COST $2.

 I totally agree. We got the same junk when we were taking our sons to WDW every other year. People don't have to GET it. We just have to do what we know is best for our family.

Have any of you that have booked through DVC received your docs yet?

:surfweb: Morning,
My AAA TA told me (yesterday) that she checked with Disney and our docs were sent to them on Sept. 14, via ups, she also said that I should have then by Friday..Late late, late...
We leave next Tuseday for OKWR (Till the 28th)at WDW, so I hope they get here by Friday.

For my two older kids (11 & 13) I got the neat mesh backpacks Shirley offers. They are pictured at the very bottom of her homepage. I thought they'd be great for excursions. They can carry their underwater cameras and stuff in there. They'll be stuffed with regular disposable cameras to use in the clubs or wherever they wish. Then they'll have some of their favorite canned sodas to use in the room or on excursions. Also got boxes of their favorites movie candy and some popcorn as well.

I think the med. sand toy basket was $37 and the two mesh backpacks were $27 with the cameras and goodies we got. She's tying the two backpacks together to save us a bit on the delivery charges.:

Hi! I'm thinking of ordering these for my girls (9 & 12). Do you know if she has other colors or just blue and pink? Also, do you mind if I ask how much for both including the goodies and delivery price? Any details are appreciated, Thanks! :flower3:

:cool1: Hi again,
Looked at this list again and it just dawned on me I'm the only guy in on the top ten list so I guess that I'm the exception to the rule:thumbsup2 ("I can never my husband involved until the week before the trip").
Life is to short, so even from home/office I can enjoy the company of other nice folks... Have a nice day.
:wave2: Later, got to do some work.

Good morning everyone! Thanks for all of the well wishes for Shannon. Just talked to her and she is doing really well. The ****called her this morning to apologize and say he loves her and her girls and wants her back and will go to counseling and get himself together. She told him she gave him those options before and now it is too late. Good for her! When he left he actually had the nerve to blame her girls for making him sick and said that he was afraid he would hit one of them. How low is that? To blame innocent children for your emotional and health problems. At least he left before he did something stupid. And he really did seem so nice. Guess you cannot be too careful! OK, my rant is over and we are moving on...

It's almost party time!!! Yeah!!!:cheer2: :woohoo:  :yay: :beach: :rockband: party: :jumping1: :drinking1 :sunny: :teeth: And can't forget those yummy:mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

We are so ready for this cruise!

Exactly! My four year old has spent more nights in a hotel than many kids three times her age and you know what? She may not remember them all but she now loves vacations at four. Sometimes she even asks to go to the hotel to sleep. :rotfl: She knows how to behave in a restaurant and on a plane. And she gets just as excited as I do before a trip because she knows what fun we will have on vacation. Sure we could have waited to start taking her places but she would have to learn all the these things and our vcations may not be nearly as much fun. Just my two cents. ;)

I found this on the main forum. I am so totally there!

Following what everyone else has said, everything is pretty much the same, EXCEPT......starting just this past week, the Disembarkation Talk is now only on your television. (Showing constantly, starting on Thrusday night and starring cruise director, Rachel. It's actually quite funny, too!) There is no live presentation.

Also, on our cruise they premiered 2 new themed parties in Rockin' Bar D. (They did away with the 60's and 70's parties.) One was called One Hit Wonders and it (obviously) featured one hit wonders sung by the ship band High Frequency and played by DJ Dan. (Lucky for all furture cruisers, High Frequency got off the cruise this week! No one else has to be subjected to their musical torture!) The other was the night before Cozumel and it was a Spring Break Bash. Way fun! Tons of free Jell-O Shots, conga lines and party music!

Now we're talking! :dance3: I will keep my eyes peeled for the Spring Break Party. So, where did you find this? Did I miss a trip report? :confused3

I hope the new band is great. They have two cruises to warm up. :yay:

A long time ago I read a tip that I am finally going to use this time because we are flying right through lunch and will still be in the airport at breakfast time. We will probably pick up a sandwich for my DH and maybe me too. but I bought my DD her first ever Lunchables to break out on the plane. I think she will be too excited plus eating it will keep her busy for a while. :thumbsup2

Liz, I'm not sure if they had other colors or not. Since mine were for a boy and a girl, I just said make one the blue and one the pink. Maybe if they only have those two colors, you can get your girls the same color and they can personalize with their name somewhere. I know they do that with the sand buckets, so it wouldn't hurt to ask.

She originally told me they started at $30 (I'm sure stuffed with a lot of goodies) , but I was trying to keep the overall costs down, so we started with the basics of the bag and then what I wanted to add to it. I think the bags were $10, the cameras $10, and then she added a few drinks and snacks to get the price up to $27 apiece. There is a delivery charge of $13.50, but she is tying the two together so there is only one delivery charge.

I loved the idea of these bags for beach excursions. I figured they could keep their cameras, goggles, etc. in them. I think they can also add towels, magazines, etc. to make them whatever you want. :thumbsup2
