September 29, 2007 - Magic

DH and I do not dress formal for formal night. A regular dress for me and black slacks and white shirt for DH, no jacket. I hate packing things that are not absolutely necessary and we are casual people.:goodvibes

I agree I'm not a dress person. I will probably wear a nice pair of dress pants and a nice shirt. Possibly a skirt but I doubt it.

Dh and I are normally very casual ppl ourselves. But I have these dresses, and either way I'm going to wind up spending money on a dress or something for the cruise since I have lost a lot of weight since the last time i needed a nice outfit. So its either tailoring or a new outfit

If i didn't have formals in my closet i would definitely NOT go buy 1 for the cruise. I'll likely try them on this weekend. Maybe I'll Dh take my pic in each and post them here to see what everybody thinks.

I think gg will wear one! I like to dress up and will try to convince dh to wear his tux - I wouldn't go buy 1 special but he does already have it in his closet anyway, how many opportunities does he have?! I will dress up regardless, and so will dd. I think it'll be *such* a nice pic if he gets dressed up too. :cloud9:

My Dh doesn't have a tux or he'd wear it. I think it'll make a nice pic no matter what he wears, but he's already told me he's looking forward to dressing a little nicer on this cruise. We have so few opportunities to do this it'd be a shame to waste it i think.

But yeah I think I'll post the pics here and then see what everybody thinks. Of course if it costs as much to take the dress in as to buy a new 1 I might just buy a new 1.

:cool1: Hi it's me,
You bet yahhhh.. I got it I will wear it, the biggest debate is the black jacket or the white dinner jacket...
Don't go out and start buying stuff for the cruise because by the end of August and the 2nd week in September all those $200-300 dresses will be $39 - $79.00 so save some money and wait a few months...That is what my :bride: DW did last year..
I'll probably be the only one with a tux out of my group, no biggie wear what your wear and don't what you don't.
gg

BTW, tfc3rid and GF... Are Tom (31) and Molly (26)...

Looking forward to our trip... If you haven't done so, check out the Med Repo trip reports... Sounds like those cruisers are having an awesome time and that the Magic got a great welcome to Barcelona last night!

What are yall wearing for Formal night?

I have 2 formal gowns in my closet that i have to try on and see how bad they need to be taken in. DH is not wearing a tux. At some point this summer we'll get him a nice pair of pants and a shirt. It doesn't matter to me that he's not wearing the tux. I'm just undecided on the dresses.

Any thoughts?

TYIA

I am going to go formal. My DH, DS, DBiL, DFiL are all doing tuxes and the little girls love to dress up. This is also the only time I really get to as well. I have a lot of dresses now (all different sizes). But with this being 4 months away, I am hoping to change my shape and weight. Then I want to buy something new. (if I don't change shape and weight, probably shop in my own closet.)

My thought for you is do what you are comfortable with. Isn't that why we are cruising? :cool1:

We are renting all the tuxes but DFiL (he has).

I love the idea of waiting until August or September for lower price dresses. :yay: Also, more time to change my weight.:upsidedow

I hope I didn't offend anyone by saying it'd make a nice pic - I just meant if me and dd are dressed up and dh isn't, he'll ruin the overall look for us!! Although I could always get a pic of just me and dd for the office . . . :surfweb:

Another dress idea: check a bridal store for sales, August will be the end of the season and last year David's Bridal had $200 dresses for $35!

I don't think you offended anyone.;) The formal nights always produce nice pictures. :thumbsup2 When DH and I were at a wedding a couple of weeks ago, he commented how nice we looked because we rarely dress up. We'll be dressed up but not getting tuxes or suits for DH and DS. Just can't see spending that kind of money for a couple of hours and ultimately, them being miserable!

Although, according to my Passporter (which could be wrong), it looks like my family may be in Parrot Cay for formal night? :confused3 Half tempted to schedule Palo that night and let the kids eat buffet with the clubs. :rolleyes1

Just a heads up:scared1: We applied March 23, and it has taken eight weeks to even show up on the web site..and now it only shows "Being processed" there is no date with it. It will be 10 weeks the first week of June...so i wait and see...Luckily the mail lady is one of my close friends..so I told her just to sign for it and keep it when it comes..I would hate to have to wait any longer than i am...:rotfl2:

We dress up for formal night too. Not tux or gown, but dh has a nice black suit. My 16 yo dd is thinking of wearing her Jr Prom gown. I will check the end of the season sales as well. DD's have outgrown alot of their dresses !

Also...Tonya....got the DVC VAK today ! It JUST arrived, so I haven't checked it out yet. Wow...this place is gonna be huge ! I don't think there should be too much trouble getting a reservation here if it's not your home resort ? As long as you call at the 7 month window. When I buy more time, I think I want the VWL. I just love the WL. We have 175 points at OKW now. When we purchased, OKW/BWV/VB/HH were the only ones that existed.

Jajoma....thanks for the head's up ! I'm not paying $200 for us to get passports if they're not going to be here in time. I wonder if I call the post office if they can give me a timeline ? Is that who you went through to get them ?

When I called the Passport office 2 days ago, their automated line said it was taking 10 weeks to process passports. It also they were working to ensure people aren't missing their trips. So, I have to wonder if they're stacking the apps in order of when your trip is? :confused3 There's a thread in the main forum where it sounds like people are getting their passports about 10 weeks after they've submitted them. (one guy is going on a med cruise in June or so and was wondering if he'd get his in time, hasn't applied yet! :scared1:) At lunch, I just counted it out and we have 17 weeks until our cruise. We are going tomorrow to submit the apps for DD and DH. We should have plenty of time and I'm not going to sweat it until September rolls around.

On another note, when DS and I applied for ours last September (I think it was August or September) our status never appeared on the web site or anything. I called after a few weeks and the guy told me they were being mailed out. So, I don't think you can necessarily trust their site is being updated!

Jajo - let us know if you get your passports in 2 weeks! :hippie:

Thanks JD....feel a little better now knowing I have a little buffer over the 10 week waiting time. I guess we'll be getting them.

Yesterday I had asked DH if we got the packet, he says no, just some promo material from DVC. I checked after I logged off last night and, lo and behold, I GOT MY PACKET! I glanced through it, nothing new jumped out at me except for the Jewels of the Sea gift that someone on the main board was asking about so now I know what it is.

I don't think I own anything lime green but I will have on my door the beautiful sign that gg made!

I'd love to party it up in someone's Roy or Walt Suite - I second that idea! :thumbsup2

We got our packet but I do not see a JEWELS OF THE SEA gift. :confused3 Can someone tell me a page number?
THANKS
Jan :earsgirl:

I see that you are on the Westbound PC Repo. DH and I are on it too. It will be fun to get to know you before we cruise together again.

Sorry we were gone all day today at downtown disney. BBB stands for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where they do princess make overs for girls. My dd had a great time and got a lot of attention as a princess.

I like the "DISboarders

On formal night last time I just wore a nice dress and my dh wore a suit, and dd wore her Belle dress. We will probably do the same this time.

On the passport note we didn't get ours either. I know we probably should but are going to wait and get one later.

Well, have a great Memorial Day weekend!

There was a Blog posted of 2 sisters and their mother on the Med cruise. One of the girls is in the pool and the waves are incredible. Their Blog is hilarious. I can't imagine being out to sea like that for days if I was with my mother and sister. :scared1: I imagine we'd be very close to a "woman overboard" situation if that were the case! :lmao:

Oh yeah, Iwas also wondering if anyone else is traveling without a passport this year?

We are not..it's a complicated issue with my sons dad so this may be our last cruise until he is 14 :sad2: I thought about not going at all for that reason but I want him to experience it at least once while he is young. I figure if something really did happen and I had to be flown home the US would not leave me there forever. It may be a pain but at some point I will get back, and what's so bad about being stuck in the places we are going for a few days? :rotfl:
