September 29, 2007 - Magic

Hi Tonya...
Nope, not yet ? What's in the packet ? I've gotten a simple mailer when they first introduced the VAK ? Is this something different ?

Yes, this one is supposed to be really nice. I am thinking maybe a pop-up from what I have read and it comes with a DVD about AKV. I remember in the monthly email it said they were being sent out and it also said our summer vacation magic was being sent out but I haven't received either.

Please post a link to your trip report
??Any other questions??Jan :earsgirl:

my trip report is posted in this thread. It's spread out on several different pages. I need to find where it starts and ends.

I don't have any other questions but I am sooo jealous you are on the westbound repo ;)

JLSE50 - Welcome and thank you for the intro!

mcraft17 - Glad you made it to Florida safe and sound. What is BBB?

Jajomo - I hear ya. When we planned this trip we anticipated a slow 2007. 2007 has been anything but slow! Now I'm glad we have the cruise to look forward to for some unwinding!!!

No pop ups.
A fold-out folder that has some booklets with great illustrations and info plus a DVD about the resort.

Sorry--I thought you had a trip report on the trip report forum. I enjoyed what I read and saw, so did not want to miss the rest.

We had friends who did the Eastbound and others who did the Westbound PC cruises last time. We had wanted to go but job commitments would not permit so we lived vicariously through them.

We did not know there even was going to BE any Repo cruises in 2008 let alone when they opened for bookings until several weeks after the ships were sold out.

We talked about it, agreed on a category 11 on the West-bound cruise in May and whenever I thought about it I would call. Admittedly not very often. When I first called they said they would not do wait listing any more, I should just keep calling.

A couple weeks ago when I was on the phone with DCL concerning this cruise--I don't even remember what I was asking--I asked about the Repo and the CM said she had taken a cancelation earlier but did not know if it was still available. She found a gty for a category 10, I told DH the cost and after thinking about it a minute, he said to go for it. So we are booked.

Someone on that thread posted a list of categories that have availabilities now so apparently it is not sold out any more.

I actually like that one DIS Boarders!pirate:

I second it!!

Lime green ribbons could work.

I don't think I received anything about AKV but I think I'm on their "last group" mailing list anyway!

Seems like a lot of us are DVC members - we recently bought and haven't been to WDW yet. Our home resort is SSR, how long does it take to get to MK?

Hi ibela,
Depending on your bus stop location, from the time you board to the time you are in the MK, I'd say around 25 min. You would be closer to MGM or Epcot. But the MK is the furthest park from SSR.
Congrats on recently becoming Members ! Welcome Home I should say....:cool1: Have u stayed at SSR yet ? It's a lovely resort.

Hi everyone. I've been here but I have trouble keeping up so I have just been lurking.:surfweb: I love the pirate: Dis Boarders pirate: GG. I'm not sure what happened to Disneynut1955 but I heard something about him getting kicked off so he may still be lurking on here. Maybe he'll still show up at the meet. Is there going to be 2 meets? I remember something about a meet on Saturday in the Promenade and luch on Sunday?:confused3

JayS: I have to change ours my DBF won't be able to join us because his x-wife decided she won't let him take the kids. and also my DD3 is named Savannah and DD5 is Jade. Thanks for keeping track for us!

I don't think we are really going to do any excursions. I am definately going to Coki beach and the marine park there. I also am going to do the bannana boat on CC.

Oh, if you're lurking around here Peg come join us!

Have a good Memorial Day weekend everyone.

 Why would he get kicked off? I can only think if someone thought he posted something offensive? If there's gossip, I like to hear it! popcorn::
Note: I'm not a big gossiper but we *are* on the cusp of a 3 day weekend . . . :cheer2:

 Actually, I guess 25 minutes isn't too bad. We've never even SEEN SSR except for the brochures, I figured if we don't like it we can just book elsewhere - I doubt we'd go at peak holiday times and I'm a planner so we should know far enough in advance to book whichever resort we wanted.

I think we'll go to WDW sometime in 2008, we were planning to alternate annually WDW w/ DCL.

Thanks for the welcome and info!

We don't have passports Shannon....but thinking about it (don't have too much time to think about it though !). A rep from DCL strongly suggested it, saying if you ever need to fly out of the Carribbean, you'll need it.
There's another $200 to budget for....:rotfl:

Good I feel better now. I'm not going to bothert this year. I'll work on saving for those after this cruise. We'll need them to go to Canada anyways. Thanks I feel much better now.

Oh yeah, Iwas also wondering if anyone else is traveling without a passport this year?

No way! I know you still can but people can get so fruity, I'm not taking any chances. Mine should be coming any day now (it expired, oopsie) and we sent dd's out ~3 weeks ago. Um yeah, that really makes sense - how similar does a 1 yr old look by the time they're 6?! Whatever, she needs one so she got (is getting) one.

Totally off-topic: the woman at Rite Aid was arguing with me that dd didn't need to get a passport and could travel under mine! I said as of Jan EVERYONE needs one regardless of age, she said that was ridiculous, I said I agreed but could she stop talking and just take the picture?! Then she said she's too short :headache: , I asked couldn't she just aim the hand held digital camera lower and lower the white backdrop that raises up and down - no. Can we then hold dd up so she's by the white backdrop - she said fine. AND she was the assistant manager. :scared1: The reason I know is because I had to wait for abut 45 minutes (felt like it) while she checked 2 cashiers in with their register/cash boxes. Nice level of customer service.

OK, moving off my rant now. :yay:

We are traveling with them - all 4 of us. Going tomorrow to get DH and DD's, DS and I got ours when we booked the trip. Weighed it heavily but my theory is, better to have them and not need them than to not have them and need them. Yes, they're expensive to get but God forbid someone needs to fly back to the states due to an emergency and have the hassle of not having a passport! :scared1: Just my opinion. But if you do decide to go ahead and get them, processing time is about 10 weeks now so I wouldn't delay for too long. Believe it or not, our cruise is coming up fast!!

Don't you love unsolicitated advice from total and complete strangers? :rotfl: Kind of funny making that statement because here we are, on this DIS, getting advice from basically strangers! :lmao: Any way, we're going to Costco tonight to get Passport pics for DD and DH. They're $5 there and I paid $15 each  at the Post Office when DS and I got ours. I think I'll save the $10/each and put that money towards the Passport price!

I didn't even know Costco takes passport pictures?! We got ours at Rite Aid b/c it's $8 there and that month there was a $8 rebate, good deal. :thumbsup2

I figured I'll apply that $16 for the margarita tasting.

Me + Tequila =
But I've been encouraging DH to sign up for that. DH + Tequila = :woohoo:

I've been away from this thread for awhile now. Been too many things going on. Time to get back in the swing of things here. Just 4 months to go:banana:

Got my travel kit on monday and was so excited. My TA actually sent me an older version of this kit when we paid our first deposit so it was very similar. As for excursions we are holding off for the moment. After next week I'll have a better idea of what's going on in our lives besides the cruise.

Passports: Applied for and being processed according to the website. In about 2 more weeks I'll start checking my mailbox and the site on a daily basis to find out if htey've been mailed out.

JD: I hope you get your 2nd set in time. I'd hate to be applying right now. Glad i gave it a couple extra months instead of weeks. Good luck

As for passport pics, we got ours at Walgreen's. 8 bucks a piece and quickly done.

What are yall wearing for Formal night?

I have 2 formal gowns in my closet that i have to try on and see how bad they need to be taken in. DH is not wearing a tux. At some point this summer we'll get him a nice pair of pants and a shirt. It doesn't matter to me that he's not wearing the tux. I'm just undecided on the dresses.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure what I'm wearing for formal night because I'm hoping to lose a lot of weight between now and then. But if I don't lose weight, I'll be wearing a black dress I've worn to the past 2 weddings. It's nice, kind of like the dress Marilyn Monroe wore - the white one. DH will just wear a shirt, tie and slacks. No tux. DD is wearing this adorable dress, very pretty.
