Yes, a neighbor or a coworker are good because you can trust them. As for the gecko......we had a hamster once and our vet told us to drop him off and they'd watch him. They only charged us $5/day to feed/water and clean his cage. Our cats we've always left at home and had a neighbor come over twice a day. It's just next door and we reciprocate the favor when they go away.I am going to try to find someone at work to come take care of the cats, gecko and fish tank.
Also, in some of my touring, I noticed some kennels weren't heated/air conditioned. Definitely check all this out. Also, not all of them walk the dogs so make sure to ask. For us it was really important to find one that would walk her as opposed to wait for her to go in the kennel/cage.
Best of luck finding someone Shannon !
