September 29, 2007 - Magic

I'm sorry to say that we will not be joining yall on the cruise.

I need to have surgery if we want to have a baby and that'll mean 6 weeks off from work during most of the summer. And we just can't afford for me to be off 6 weeks, start back to work and take another 10 days or so for the cruise. And I don't want to put off the surgery. I want it done.

Actual cruise plans are now up in the air. I plan on rebooking for the nearest Eastern for our 5th anniversary next year. But we may move it up if everything works out the way we hope.

Its been a lot of fun getting to know everybody and planning for the cruise. I hop you all have a great time and that we do find ourselves on the same cruise at some point.

Maureen, sorry you won't be cruising with us this time but I'm sending you a whole bunch of prayers and pixie dust for success! :wizard:

Keep us posted and look for our trip reports when we return. We should be able to give you lots of helpful tips for when you plan your next cruise. Take care!! :grouphug:

We're wearing Pirate shirts on Pirate night-not costumes. Although, I may get DD one of those Pirate sets that have the toys (eye patch, etc.) only because she is a huge fan of the movies. (She takes after her Mommy and after you meet us, you'll agree!) ;)

DH had emergency surgery yesterday to remove his gall bladder. We were supposed to see the 10:30 showing of Pirates but instead, we went to the ER. I joked with DH that he'll do anything to keep me and DD away from Capt Jack Sparrow! Hope everyone had a Happy Memorial Day!! :hippie:

And just noticed, we are at the 4 month mark - exactly!!

Geez men these days no consideration:sad2: I hope he's feeling better soon.pixiedust:

Maureen ~
So sorry you won't be coming. I was looking forward to meeting you but I totally understand your reasons. I wish you and dh all the best. May the surgery and family planning go well. It was nice getting to know you too :flower3:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes for DH!!! :grouphug:

I told him how some of you said it's good this happened now instead of before or on our cruise. Before the cruise would have been okay, you can always reschedule. But on the cruise! :scared1:

Hopefully, I'll be back to planning but in the mean time, I'm lurking and reading your posts as I can. :surfweb:

Yall fell off the front page. That's just wrong.

Anyhow, ty for all the well wishes. I was really looking forward to cruising with everybody and decorating my room door and stuff. I think we have a date for our new cruise. It'll still be an Eastern cruise. A little fartehr back than I'd luck cause of Drydock next year. But who knows. If year actually goes the way i want for once we may move it up again though not back to this date.

I hope you all have a great cruise. And I'll post on how my surgery goes when I get home. Lord knows I'll have 6 weeks of free time:headache:

So, I've recently been educated (thanks ibela! :thumbsup2) on dining and the start times, etc. I'm contacting the TA to arrange for our dining time to be 6 pm. Anyone want to link ressies so we can eat together?? :flower3: When DH and I took a cruise a couple years ago, we sat alone and I was a little envious of the tables around us socializing and comparing stories.

PM me if you're interested! :grouphug:

Hello everyone! Just wanted to say hi as DH and I are on this cruise with you. Some friends may join us as they are still working out the logistics.

I've been on the Eastern but this will be Dh's first Eastern cruise.

We're DVC members and have done some of the other cruises including the 11 Night Southern Caribbean.

Is there anything we need to be brought up to date on?

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon,

Denise and Steve

:welcome: So glad you'll be joining us! Everyone is getting settled in and excited because it's getting close. We haven't firmed up any meets yet but that is in the works, I am sure. So, stick around and we look forward to getting to know you better!

Welcome MommmaluvsDis!

Octoberbride, sorry you will not be able to join us. I wish you well.

JD, hope your DH is feeling better. Same thing happened to my DH two months before we cruised last Sept. Seems that gallbladder problems are quite common. Makes me nervous when think about what can happen while onboard. So I try not to think about it!:goodvibes

One more thing...GO CAVS!!! LeBron is on fire! Cleveland needs a win. This city really needs a shot in the arm. Something good has to happen here.pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hi Denise !
Welcome to you, Steve and the family !
We've been talking about having a little DIS "boarders" meet on the first day. I think we're still working out the details.....mentioned that maybe we can all wear something lime green so we can identify ourselves. Also, a few of us have posted our pictures to help spot eachother.
What dinner seating do u have ? Children ?
We're DVC Members as well and I think there are a couple more of us here too (ZaneAnthony is one). Are u staying anywhere the night before the cruise ? Night after ?
It's nice to have you in our group :thumbsup2

Denise and Steve - :welcome: I see that you said this is your 2nd Eastern. I am having the most difficult time figuring out our excursions. On St. Thomas I have so many choices, can't decide between, Leylon sneed, Sunny Liston, Doubloon Sail, Cokiworld, etc. etc. and on St. Maartin I can't really see anything that's jumping out at me. I figure we'll do the butterfly farm in the morning, (little DD's only request) but then what? :confused3

What are the rest of you all doing? I'm starting to stress a little because our time is drawing near to reserve.

JD - Hope hubby is feeling better! Better now than later though, that's for sure! We have a full table at dinner but I wonder if somehow we could request close proximity with Diser's in our group. I enjoy hearing what other families have been up to at the end of the day too. I met a Dis family here on our last cruise and we compared notes each day and it was so interesting to see how different our choices were but both families were still having a blast. Just goes to show how much there is to do and still everyone was having a boatload of fun! :cool1: Did you ever get to see POTC3?

Ragdoll - I really like your new avatar, so cute! Just perfect for you! And on a side note, you know I'm always rooting for Cleveland! Go Cavaliers! :goodvibes

In St Thomas we're going to go to Maagen's Bay.

But in St Maarten, we don't have any plans and aren't going to make any. We'll probably get off the ship and walk around a bit. But I haven't really been able to find anything about a good beach that doesn't include a lesson in biology for the children, or myself for that matter! :scared1:

I did get to see POC 3 yesterday!! pirate: popcorn:: :hyper2: :jumping1: Man oh man, that was a good one. I was able to follow along much better with #3 than I was with #2. I loved the first scene Capt Jack is in, hilarious! I'd like to go see it again because I missed some of it with DD squiriming around. But for a 3 year old, in a non-animated, 3 hour movie, she did really well. She's a big fan! pirate: I'm stoked they left it open at the end for a 4th one! Yo Ho!!!pirate:

Hello everyone! Thank you for all of your warm welcomes!:thumbsup2

MiaSRN62 - I'll post a picture of us with the other couple, pahrumpgirl and her DH, that may be joining us too. We've been DVC membersince 2004. Our first contract was at BWV and then we also have 2 more at SSR. We have a total of 650 points.

We're doing the 2nd dining as our children are grown and aren't joining us. We've just found that the 2nd dining works better for us. We're doing 5 days at the parks, staying at the FW cabins before the cruise. I've always wanted to stay there and I think it'll be a peaceful 5 days for us.

Next year will be our 25th anniversary and we're taking all 3 of our sons, our daughter-in-law and our grandson on 4 days at the parks and a 3 day cruise. If my cat could come, I'd be totally happy!

Deweysgirl - I know we're going to do the Sky Ride. I didn't do that when my cousin and I went in March and our table mates said it was very nice. It's just a short walk from the dock and they said the views were spectacular! Other than that, we'll shop and maybe even rent a car to sightsee on our own.

I found the people on St Maarten to be a little cool in their attitudes but the St. Thomas people are very friendly.

The only thing I don't like about the Eastern cruise is having to go thru customs so early in the morning the day we dock at St. Thomas! Half of the people were in jammies! It's very fast and the Cast Members had juice and coffee for us. But the fact that we have two days at sea at the beginning of the cruise is awesome! Very relaxing.

As I said earlier, our friends may be going on the cruise too. They're the ones that made the fish extenders for the 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise last year. We met on the cruise thread and became fast friends. They should know in a couple weeks if they are getting the vacation time off or not.

Okay, looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Steve and I are on each end and the other couple is Carol and Doug.

Okay, it worked this time. As I said, Steve and I are on each end. He's a locomotive engineer and I'm a stay at home wife. Can't say stay at home mom as all the boys are living on their own! The Build-A-Bear cat that Carol is holding is named Chewy Too and she has just finished writing the 2nd book about his travel adventures!
