September 29, 2007 - Magic

Hi Jim. I have a picture of Sarah and Morgan at Scuttle's Cove that I took when I picked up Sarah. Everytime I pick up Sarah at the club, they're always together :) Funny 'coz I couldn't find Sarah's water shoes at scuttles cove and Morgan was trying to help us find them. Well, we found them in one of the bins at the terminal (lost and found) upon disembarking and they were covered in sand! So we just decided to leave them.

Did anyone else get an extra pillowcase from the kids club during their pj party? I asked for an extra one and took it to guest services. The pillowcase had a disney cruise line logo and name on it so it turned out to be a really cool souvenir. :thumbsup2

Pauline :hippie:

If you had taken them home, you would have a jar of Castaway Cay sand to ease those longings.

Getting the pillowcase from the PJ party signed by characters is a stroke of genius. I me glad you told me about it on the way to the car rental office. I put it on my list of things to check into when we go on the Panama Canal cruise in May.

The only white pillowcases I had were pillow covers with zippers. I took them on the ship, got them signed by the major characters and have them on our pillows at home. The zippers are handy as they don't slide off like regular ones can do.

Thanks to everyone for the photos. I hope more are posted!!

I have this thread bookmarked so can go into my USER CP to easily find it no matter where it is on the board.

We deal with homesickness for the ship by having magnets, photos and mementos all over the condo.

SO PRECIOUS!

Hi Jan, welcome back! How did you like Vero? We were there back in '98 and have thought about going again sometime, maybe after we cruise next. Are you DVC or did you just rent? I remember it was very pretty when we were there, almost 10 years ago.

The AKL is beautiful. Did u stay in the Villas ? How was the construction going there may I ask ? We toured the Villas when we were in WDW in the summer and just love them. Also, Boma is on our list for our top 3 favorite restaurants in WDW.

Yes we just stayed in a savanna view studio and it was beautiful. It was really nice when we got there our room wasn't ready so we went to DTD and had lunch and did a little shopping. It was neat because there we ran into a really good friend Zane made on the ship. Zane thought he may never see him again when we said goodbye at breakfast. When we got back our room was ready and my sis took Zane swimming and I did some laundry. We then went to the African storytelling and then Zane was in a parade it was really cool. He got a magical moment certificate for it. We then had dinner and just relaxed in the room before going to bed. A perfect ending to the trip. I saw a crane but that is the only sign of construction I saw and never heard anything but that could have been because it was a weekend. I can't wait until the 7 month window opens for our trip next summer. I am going to try to get 1 of our weeks there.

We enjoyed it. The first time we went we did not know what to expect. I have now catagorized it as a step between the total pampering of the ship and real life. The room is great, the service is great, they bring you food if you order it, but you have to pay for the food and make your own bed.

We walked on the beach and the inland park they own. Saw Disney touches and a few Hidden Mickey's but it is not the totally immersive experience WDW or DCL is. That is why I call it a transition location.

We had free internet access (in the hallway or lobby) and uninterruped Colts Football viewing--again--transition to home life.

We bought into DVC in 2000 after we sold the big motorhome thinking DS#1 and DS#2 did not want to travel with us any more and then discovering they did if we were going to WDW. Wish we could have afforded to buy in flat out as we lost a lot in interest for several years until we could pay it off. But we got cruises, four nights in London and WDW trips that we might not otherwise taken!

Jan....
Welcome back from Vero ! We love it there. We also became DVC Members in 2000 and it was during a stay at Vero. Did u see any sea turtles on the beach ? Big crabs ? We'd seen crabs at the Jersey shore before, but they grow 'em big at Vero ;)

Now THAT was a magical moment Tonya ! How neat he got to see his friend again. Also very cool Zane got to be in a parade. That was a perfect ending to a great vacation.
I hope u have fun planning your next trip to the AKV next summer ! It's a beautiful resort. I was actually supposed to stay there this Dec during a trip to wdw with friends from work. Everyone decided it was too expensive though, so now we're going to be at POFQ. I'm gonna miss staying at the AKL---especially during the holiday season.

Nope, no turtles and only one tiny crab--maybe a ghost crab--that I saw from the boardwalk so was too far away from to really identify.

Will you go over to AKL to see the decorations, eat and shop there? That will not be the same as staying there, but it is a close second.

Sorry we did not meet too many of you. We were in the pool and hot tub when the first DIS meet occurred and at lunch during the second. Did not realize the time until it was too late. Enjoyed seeing the GG signs and other identifiers on some of the doors. Met Henry's Mom at the Mickey pool and was in the elevator with them once.

I will try. I'm with a group of friends so have to do what the majority wants, but I think I can convince them. Probably plan a meal at Boma.

thanks,

I have not noticed ship movements this time although I did after disembarking from the other cruises so that seems odd.

PLEASE tell us about the "extreme blonde moment" !!!

Great to meet you and know we will see you in May. We met a couple and had another couple at our dinner table who will also be on the PC cruise but don't "do" the DIS. We met Pahumphgirl on a snorkeling excursion so will have some familiar faces in a couple months!
Jan :earsgirl:

Jan, I am so glad that you introduced yourself and your DH to us. It will be great to see you both again in May. We will have to get together for drinks or lunch or something on the ship.

OK, since Jan asked I will tell about my extreme blonde moment. Maybe I shouldn't admit to this but oh well here goes...

We enjoyed the ventriloquist with the tennis ball puppet during the first nights show. That tennis ball was so cute and just seemed so real to me. When we later went to the adult show in Rockin' Bar D at first I was having a little trouble understanding and hearing the tennis ball talk. I kept thinking to myself "why doesn't he hold the tennis ball by the microphone?":confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Probably shouldn't have admitted to that one.:teeth:

I can just hear your sales pitch--"Let's go to Boma for a meal and to see the ANIMALS and DECORATIONS at AKL! We might even be able to tour a DCL unit!!!"

We used to visit hotels on our 'down" days so that our BUSY days were alternated with easy days that were still filled with Disney magic.

That just shows that he was a good ventriloquist, not a negative on you.

Yes, getting together on the PC will be nice!! And easier to find each other since we have already met!

For some pics, check out my trip report from our cruise... I'm not done with it yet but it's moving together quickly...

I wish I could see your pics Pauline - I'll have to check in the evening!

There were so many amazing moments, no wonder we're all suffering from DCL withdrawal. Oh well, guess we'll have to go on another one.

Not much to say, just wanted to bump the thread up a bit and say hello to everyone. I hope everyone that wasn't feeling well is feeling much better now.

It was Columbus weekend Liz ! We went that weekend last year and it was also a ZOO ! The MK on Saturdays is the worst because #1) locals tend to hit it on that day #2)the holiday weekend #3)usually Sat's are EMH's. Last year we went to WDW Oct 4-8. The weekdays were fine, but that weekend was dreadful.

A-ha! I couldn't figure it out for the life of me! I knew there was some marathon going on but I wouldn't think that would cause all the crowds. Duh! We won't be going Columbus Day weekend anymore, that's for sure! Thanks!

Tom and Ibela - I am really enjoying your trip reports. It's so interesting to see how everyone spends their days, so different one from another. Thank you both for writing and posting them! :goodvibes

Hi everyone!
Jan: I enjoyed talking to you at car rental place as well. I really wish we could've gotten a picture with everyone in front of lumiere's :sad2:

It was so funny 'coz I was talking to Jan (not knowing who she was at that time) about my DIS friends and she then she told me who she was! What a coinkidink!

We didn't get to rebook onboard.. we should've just booked for any day, but we really had our hearts set on the NEXT med cruise. I really didn't know how much I LOVED the cruise until after the fact. I guess I was too busy going here, there and everywhere. I'm soooooooo jealous of you guys going on the PC cruise.. that would be awesome!

Maria: Love your pics! I'll post more another time.. after I finish the photo book I've started with shutterfly. (I love photo books.. I just can't get into the scrapbooking thing)

I miss being on the ship with everyone  everywhere we went we always seemed to be bumping on someone and that's a very nice feeling saying hi to everyone. I'm glad I found the DISboards and made friends with you guys before going on the cruise. :flower3:

Who is coming over the Cali in the summer? Why is it so much more expensive?

I think because the demand is so high :confused3 I really want to plan a trip to DL sometime. I will have to get with you to help me with my planning. I know nothing about it!
