September 29, 2007 - Magic

just wondering if you book a certain cabin,do they ever change it or upgrade it or is that only gtn rooms?also we booked through a ta and not disney direct does your documents arrive later?Just can't wait to hold them in my hand:dance3:

I didn't realize that my goodies didn't make it to the list on page one. I have pirate notebooks and pens to add for the kiddos.

Melissa...I too am making myself crazy by checking to see if we have room assignments. My heart lurches each time the page loads to see if there is going to be a room number. Are you guys doing any door signs? I want to put our cabin number on there so am waiting until we have that.

Can't believe we are so close....

GG!! :wave2:
You know the door sign you made for my family?! I can't find it and need to print it off and prepare it with my other door signs!! Can you please PM it to me and tell me if there are special printing instructions?

Also, went to Michael's and found those flickering lights you mentioned. I may go back in a couple of weeks and buy them - after a pay day. For now I got magnet strips for my door signs and ribbon for my luggage so we can spot it easier. I scored and got bright hot pink ribbon that says Bon Voyage on it! :sail: And the best part is it was in the dollar bin! :woohoo:

Also, does anyone know where to have stuff laminated?

:thumbsup2 Hi,
Don't worry about your green mickey door sign I already have it printed on magnetic paper and will bring it with me, it's already in my folder....Don't worry..

Paula, I got it now. I also just got personalized pencils and cute earasers.

Hi Sue, go ahead and put me down for the chocolate pirate coins too. If we hear back from Eva that she wants to bring them, then I can always stick with my original plan.

thanks! :thumbsup2

So, I have my list of things I need to buy for the cruise. Today, took the list to Target and found 2 out of 10 of the items on my list - Downy Wrinkle Release in a travel size and the over-the-door shoe organizer. This annoys me because I anticipated being able to find everything on my list. I'm only able to shop on the weekends so this gives me 4 weekends to run around town looking for the rest of the stuff I need.

And...did you know sunscreen never goes on clearance in Phoenix?? I went to the aisle expecting some deals, nope, it's all still $10 a bottle! :scared1: So, called my mom in Ohio and asked her to keep an eye out for sunscreen on clearance!! :rotfl2:

Grumpy Gramps ~
I hate to ask you this again. Months ago you very kindly sent me the Mickey door sign with my screen name as well as the first names of my family : Rob (dh) and two dd's, Brittany and Heather.

The Mickey door sign is yellow. Would you be able to send me one in green ? If it's too much trouble don't worry about it. Thanks so much.

PS: also.....those of you that make the door signs (this is my first), do you print it out on regular printer paper or photo paper ? I'm trying to figure out how you give it stability ? Do you use poster board or anything to back it ?
Thanks !

I have the same question...I've never made one before. :confused3

I print mine out on regular printer paper and put it on constuction paper or scrapbook cardstock then put a magnet on the back. This time I did cover a couple with contact paper but decided that I didn't want to do all of them that way. They lasted just fine our last cruise. It is a lot of fun looking at everyones signs. I have one for everyday and a few extras. The question now is trying to figure out which ones I want out of all the neat designs I have found!

Thanks for the explanation mcraft !
I tried to change the Mickey head from yellow to green using Paint program, but it's not working. So unless GG can help me out, I'll be the DIS'er with the yellow Mickey head ;)

GG,

Finally thinking about door magnets but can't find a sample of your work. Can you help?

Thanks,

I know, me too! I have my confirmation numbers memorized! Hopefully we will know soon.
I think it would be fun to make door signs - we should make some for Nana & Papa too! I hear it helps you find your cabin easier - and your mom needs all the help she can get! (don't tell her I said that! :scared: )

I buy clear CONTACT paper (NOT DUCK brand as it does not stick as well, but CONTACT brand) at Wal-Mart, cut it a bit larger than the item, peal off the backing, lay the picture on the sticky, smoothe it from the center to the edges to get the air bubbles out, cut off the corners and fold the edges over to partially coat the back. Then I put on the self stick craft store magnets and the door sign is ready to go. A roll of clear CONTACT paper makes a lot of door signs!

Don't know what type of printer you all have but most color ink jet printers will print directly to magnet paper. You may be able to scan or import you pictures and print them directly to the magnet paper. :woohoo: Anything you can design can be printed this way.:woohoo: We have found the magnet sheets at Hobby Lobby and Staples. That might save you a little extra work as I know what a pain contact paper can be.:headache:

I know they have magnet paper but I am not designing my door signs on the computer. I am using cut outs from advertising, photos, words, stickers and hand printing to make the sign on cardboard or file folders. Covering them with CONTACT paper fits this low-tech method. I also think the cost of sticky magnet strips is less than magnet pages and for a while I was using magnets we got as advertising and gluing them on the back so had no magnet cost at all.

Thanks for sharing though, others might want to go that way.

One month from today most of us will be traveling or already in Orlando! :cool1: One month from tomorrow we will be sailing on The Magic! :dance3: :woohoo: :cool1:

Today was 1st day of school for both our DD's. DD5 started Kindergarten!! DH and I both took the day off, delivered our girls to school, and then went out to breakfast. Then we went cruise shopping and hit the sales! And we went to Michael's and bought supplies to design our own t-shirts and make door magnets. It was a blast, and now I REALLY can't wait to get on that ship!! cruisin':sail: :mickeyjum !!

That sounds like a fun way to spend a day!!!
Every time I buy something and bring it home to put in the box, I just cannot wait to unload the box in to my suitcase!!! Last night I modeled potential semi-formal outfits and tried on my formal dress. It's all fitting and ready to go!!! :yay: :yay:
Our countdown reads 32 days. Thursday, we can start using our 30 day countdown, even though we fly out on the 28th!!! :cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo: :dance3:

ok, I'm trying to use photobucket for the first time. If this works, the below is one of two door signs I created today. Here goes nothing...
