I did the same thing in February on a business trip. FUn! It was amazing how fast I could fly thorugh everything in the morning without kids in tow! I rode EE three times then I gave away my FP to an unsuspecting person I passed by who was thrilled as I never needed it because that was the period of time that it was in pre-opening and they would tell people it was shut down when it was actually running.

Your final docs will arrive 7-14 days in advance of the cruise. They will include the final cruise contract, your very important luggage tags to add to your luggage prior to leaving home if you have transfers, and not until you reach Orlando if you do not. It will also include the Bahamas Immigration forms to fill out prior to arrival at the terminal to save time. I can help with the filling out of the forms once they arrive as they are a tad confusing.

Thanks, Gazer, Doc will be thrilled with the information. . .okay, I'm glad to get have it, too! Though we're not planning to get off the ship at Nassau, we'll likely fill out the forms, anyway, just in case we change our minds. Oh, and now she wants to know what the zip ties are for that many have posted about being nice to have. Any clue? P.S. I'm planning to get Doc her own DIS ID. . .lol ;)

bethsg: I concur with mom about not really needing an SUV in Colorado. I lived there for three years and drove only a front-wheel drive Honda Accord with no problems. Not only are the roads kept in reasonably good shape, but if the snow and ice are bad enough where the roads aren't easily navigable, then you don't want to be on them regardless of what sort of vehicle you're driving. :)

Bethsg - definitely want to meet up with you and your friends! I am doing similar itinerary, but OKW was booked for Sunday, so I'll be at Saratoga Sunday and OKW Monday night. Not planning on doing the Halloween party - hoping to catch shorter lines for rides at other parks that night. Now I don't feel so all alone!

I went to Wal Mart and got my non-drowsy Dramamine...just in case! My first cruise (almost 20 years ago!) I was sick as a dog - but I get better at it the more I go! Looking forward to getting my sea legs again.

Has anyone been to Castaway since they docked the Pearl? Wow - I get to walk the same ship as Captain Jack! He may be a little young for me, but he's great eye candy... pirate:

Thanks for the info on Colorado driving, but actually looking at SUV for it's size... we are a family of 6, dh me and our 4 teenage children, and one who is 16 is bringing a friend, so basically we are looking at 7 adults... which is pushing it in my mini van... but I am keeping my options open... we may just look at renting 2 vehicles.

FYI....
Bethsg = Sandy.... that is my name

Anyway Diane, we are going to roam EPCOT food and wine on Sunday, and will probably do somewhere there for Dinner, thinking Le Cellier, are you getting the meal plan?

Park hop and say out late on Sunday, sleep in shop DD, and the do the Halloween party on Monday night... go home on Tues...fast and furious vacation.

What are you doing in Nassau?

 Just dropping in to say hi.

I've been real busy lately so please forgive me for not posting much. :)

FatherForce, I'm glad you received the wristbands. :thumbsup2
Momsully, I am so envious. Three parks!! How cool is that?
Castlegazer, I hope everyone is feeling mucho better.
Sandy and Diane, looks like you guys will be having a terrific time together. :woohoo:

WoW!! DH and I will be leaving in a little over 3 weeks. I can't believe it is so close. My wonderful DH keep chuckling because I keep walking around our house muttering "Yo Ho, Yo Ho...A pirates life for me." :rotfl:

Well gang, I'm off to get ready for work. Hope you all have a great week and a fantastic holiday weekend.

You have to fill out the Bahamas forms for every cruise regardless of getting off - and I would assume you would be exiting the ship on Castaway Cay, right????? ;) Hence, Bahamas forms!

The Flying Dutchman was not at CC when we went in May. You can only see it from afar, not walk the ship in reality. I am actually one who is glad it wasn't there - that thing is pretty freaky and my son is a wee bit wimpy when it comes to stuff like that. I am sure we would be convincing him it was OK to go out in the water.

I am totally psyched to see Pirates while on board and then see the Flying Dutchman when we go to CC! That, I think will be pretty cooooool.

Thanks guys! Everyone is getting healthy now. This has been the sickest summer ever. I have no idea what is going on with my kids. There's no pattern either. One week it's a weird unexplained fever, the next the other one will throw up once, then be fine. But each time puts us out of work for two days.

Ohhhhh. . .I thought CC was the Republic of Disney, thus we'd need no forms, just pixie dust. My bad. ;) I guess I can hold a wine glass in one hand and write with the other. . .that should help. :thumbsup2 Glad to hear all are getting better in your household. I can handle getting sick (though Doc would argue that I'm insufferable when I get sick because I get mad at the illness), but when it's your child. . .few things worse.

...but it's Friday!

Why are Pirates so mean? JUST BECAUSE THEY RRRRR!

Why did Captain Hook cross the road? TO GET TO THE SECOND HAND STORE!

What kind of socks do Pirate wear? RRR - GYLE!

Why did the pirate go to the movie? BECAUSE IT WAS RATED RRRRRRR!!

Have you decided to make me walk the plank yet?

No plank. . .'cuz I'm busy watching a pirate's favorite movie, JASON AND THE RRRRRGONAUTS. . .;)

Oh my gawd!!! You two really know how to make a soggy Friday afternoon great. I'm still laughing. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I can see that this meeting at the Mickey Pool is going to be fun.

On a side bar. I just found out that the buses from resorts to the port don't pick us up until 12:00 - 12:30 so DH and I might be a little later than 1:00 at the pool but we 'WILL" be there. Just look for the crazy lady running "UP" the gang plank wildly waving arms filled with little green wristbands while dragging a very bewildered man behind.. Ah Huh. That will be me. :dance3:

Happy Friday everyone. :thumbsup2

:bounce: Bumping us back up to the first page. :Pinkbounc

Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend. :thumbsup2

Went and bought my last little things needed for WDW. Ponchos, drink packets (heard that the water in Orlando is terrible. :rolleyes1 ), Icy Hot for the sore leg muscles I know I am going to have from all that walking. :lmao:

Made one final ADR for breakfast at Boma for 8:00 a.m. so that we can go on the safari early in the morning. Now I just have to figure out how we are going to get to AKL that early since the buses don't start running until 8:00 but I am sure I will find a way. :cool1:

21 days until we leave and I am soooooooo excited!

we're at 20 days and counting :thumbsup2
Got my DD her Pirate costume.
Made list of final things to pick up.
Anyone know how many phone cards we should get as extra tips?

Oh, and I've injured my back playing softball :rotfl2:

I'm trying to laugh cause I feel pretty stupid right now. :rolleyes1

Just curious if any of the grown ups are dressing up for Pirate night? I need to figure out something for DH and I for MNSSHP and am wondering if we should do a pirate. DS7 is Davey Jones and DS4 is Jack Sparrow so they are set to go. I am thinking about sending the costumes down ahead of time since they take up so much room in the luggage but am afraid they might not make it in time.

Father Force - I hope the back feels better!

Would it be better to have a slightly later meet, say, 2:00 vice 1:00? Just tossing the idea out since that would allow everyone a bit more time to get onboard, go by reservations desk (e.g., Palo), etc. As for dressing up as pirates, we are not. Just a couple of fewer things to have to worry about packing is Doc's manner of thinking. Uh-oh, Doc has more questions:
1) Zip straps (you know those things that make good handcuffs in a pinch on TV)--why are they needed? Doc has read about these and wonders.
2) On a related note, a few posts have mentioned having clippers on the outside of your luggage to undo said zip straps. What's up with that?
3) What is fish mail?
4) What do you veteran cruisers recommend for sea sickness? I'm largely immune (as in I've never been seasick before in my life), but Doc is curious. She has a few options given what she does, but would like some hands-on feedback.
5) Anyone decorating their doors?
Doc says that's it for now. :cheer2: And who am I to RRRRRRgue?

Well - Sleepy finally got tired of taking my dictation so he created my own log-on ID. So here is my official first post. I have found this board so fascinating. It is amazing how organized I already feel for my first cruise. Thank you for all of the information and answers to crazy questions (see Sleepy's post). Can't wait to meet you all!!! :boat:

:welcome: Doc. It's good to hear from you. :cool1:

Now understand that I am not a DIS vet but I have taken a few cruises so I will try to answer some of your questions. :goodvibes

Some people use the slip ties to secure their luggage instead of locks. If you do not have the TSA approved locks and security wants to search your luggage, they will cut what ever locks off that you are ysing and possibly do dammage to your luggage. That is why some just secure with the slip ties. They can just be cut off (and thus the clippers, I guess to make it easier for security to cut). Just last week I did a search for TSA locks on the net and found a wonderful place were the locks with the "alert" feature were only $3.98 a piece. I bought 5 of them and with shipping, it was under $30.00. I ordered them on Monday and they were at my house Thursday via FedEx. I'll post the link in a following post.

Sea Sickness I have never been sea sick but in February I had surgery that made me very vulnerable to the effects of getting sick. It could possibly do me real harm if it happened so I went to my doctor (just as a precaution) and asked him about prevention. He prescribed a patch that I am to wear just behind my ear and also told me to take some over the counter Dramamine(sp) with me. That is all I personally know about the subject. ;)

Dressing for Pirate Night I already have my costume but DH will just be in black jeans, Black t shirt and wear the bandana that Disney gives out. pirate:

Door Signs I didn't make on but I believe FatherForce did. I am feelin kinda bad not that I didn't. :guilty:

Fish mail. O.k., this is one I really have no idea about but I am dying to hear the answer. :listen: All I know is that if I get a knock on our cabin door and I ask "Who's there?" and someone answers "Candy Gram." I am going to jump ship. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Moving the meet to 2:00 I think that would be wonderful and you are right, it would allow everyone to make ressies and such. What ever everyone decides is good for me though.

FatherForce I hope your back is better. What a bummer. :flower3:

Meeting at 2 pm is fine with me, and might just give anyone late getting on a bit more time...Is anyone else on late dinner seating? I am wondering if our party of 2 is going to be sitting with others... which is fine with me.

Also, since this is my "girls" trip, and I am leaving family home, I am anticipating not having cell coverage, so I am thinking of purchasing internet access... has anyone done that before on board Disney cruise?

Do I just go to comcast.net and retrieve my email as I can from home... so I can keep in touch with my family.... does anyone know if you can just go to aim express for instant messaging while on board?

Momsully,
I am considering not even renting a car in CO... doing some transportation to breckenridge... I am not certain with shuttle availability in Breckenridge if we would need a car. What do you think? Is there any other shuttle services in addition to Colorado Mountain Express?

Ok, so give me a day off from work school etc... and I am glued to the boards, and any info I can find on our up coming 3 night cruise.... I am so totally into the beer/wine and martini tasting.....
I see looking at old Navigators, you can actually sign up for this, (all seem to be on FRI can you say Lost at Sea), or there appears to be a sampler you can purchase (wine/martini) at Cadillac Lounge...
Is anyone else partaking in this libation?
