September 22-25, 2011 Disney Dream Cruise

Question of the week:

Is this your first Disney cruise or are you a DCL veteran? Have you cruised before, just not on Disney, or are you new to cruising all-together?

This will be my and DD's 6th cruise (will be cool to sport a GOLD lanyard!!!) and DH's 4th. We've done one Magic cruise, 3 Wonder cruises, and a Dream cruise. I really think I could cruise every vacation for the rest of my life, I love it so much. :goodvibes

I guess that you could say that we're DCL veterans. We've sailed 7 times on DCL - 3 on the Magic and 4 on the Wonder.

We had never cruised before and actually my DH wasn't so sure that he wanted to be confined to a cruise ship. But, we love all things Disney, so we decided when my oldest DD was 2 that we'd take the plunge. And we booked a 7-night cruise. (Not sure that was the smartest choice, just in case we didn't like it, we were stuck for 7 days) But, we fell in love with cruising!

We didn't cruise again until for several years, but our next adventure was a DVC member cruise in 2005. We did the member cruise again in 2006 and met up again with lots of friends that we made in '05 and I'm still very good friends with some of those DCL DVCers. We stopped doing the member cruise when they started getting more $$$ and less perks.

We are FL residents, so we've been able to take advantage of a few 4 & 7 night cruises at deep discounts!! We even splurged one year and celebrated our 10th anniversary (12/19/08) on a 7-night Christmas cruise. That one I booked the first day it was available, knowing that it was a premium cruise, but it was worth it!!

We've never cruised any other cruiseline, but I'm sure that we will in the future! But, I think that I'll always love DCL!!

So, what's your cruise story??

Hi there I am not actually on this cruise , but I was o the DREAM in MARCH, and it was sooo amazing you all are going to have a great time!! I see that you live in St. Petersburg - like me- and I was just wondering if I got some money to you if you could pick up a couple of things for me from the gift shop that I really wish I would have purchased while on board- if you would consider doing this send me a private message, and we can arrange for me to get you the cash $$ thanks for your consideration - Penny G. princess:

I am with you on that one. We tell our friends & family that it is our preferred vacation destination!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July the next time that I will see Fire Works will be on the Dream YAY:yay::yay:! To answer the weekly question I have cruised on Carnival, Disney and RCCL. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Just a reminder for those that have not paid off their cruise the final payment is due July 9th.

[/QUOTE]

We have done a lot of cruises but this is the first with a Question of the Week.

This is also our first Disney cruise. We've been watching Disney since they started but haven't taken advantage of the ships until now. Overall I guess we've done 55+ cruises. We've cruised Holland America, Canival, NCL, RCCL, Princess, Celebrity, and some I've forgotten. Some have gone bankrupt, like Premier (The Big Red Boat if anyone else remembers). We also have cruised Greek, Italian, and Soviet ships.

This will be my third DCL cruise, and my DH's second. He can't wait to have a silver lanyard, he was jealous of mine on our cruise in May :lmao: I went on a girls-only 3-night last September on the Wonder.

Hi,

For our more experienced DCL cruisers:

Is there a formal night on this cruise?

How do you like the Rainforest Room? Is there a charge to use it?

Is there a sauana and steam room attached to the locker rooms?

I use the exercise facility a lot. Any comments on that area?

Thanks for the info.

Hi Ken - I'm not familiar with the spa facilities, as I don't usually get up there. But I can tell you that there is no formal night on a 3-night cruise. On the 4-nights they have a dress up night, but no official formal night. They have formal & semi-formal on the 7-night or longer cruises though.

Hope that helps some.

Hey everyone.... I am so excited about going, and our children still don't know. We don't plan on telling them until the night before.

We have gotten a special treat though, we are sailing courtesy of my mother in law on the Freedom of the Seas in August. We are looking forward to that too, but not as much as the Dream!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I wish I could keep a secret lol.... You have a great mother in Law you guys will enjoy the Freedom Of the Seas and if you are stopping at Labadee you will love it, the children will enjoy the DreamWorks characters and the character breakfast.

Hi, all!

I'm finally just checking on for this cruise. It will be me (41), my mom (65), and my sister (37). We will be celebrating my sister's birthday and doing the "mother/daughter" thing. This will be my 12th DCL cruise (just did a Dream 5 night in June with my DH and 3 kids), Mom's 3rd, and my sister's 2nd. So, I'm definitely going to be the "tour guide" for this one!

If you have any questions about Dream stuff, please ask away! We just cruised last month and as a DCL veteran, I was overwhelmed with the size of the ship and how some things are in completely different places than on the Magic/Wonder. It took a while to get used to and I'm glad I got a jump on getting my bearings because a 3 night is so short and I know I'd be turning in circles!

I'll have to ask my mom and sister about doing the FE. We usually do them on our family cruises, but a 3 night is so short and we won't have the kids to run around and do the deliveries! We're looking forward to some time together away from husbands, kids, and work.

So, please ... Fire away with the questions! I'm glad to help out!

Rose :)

Welcome to the group, Rose! It looks like you are just over Tampa Bay from us (we're in N. St. Pete).

Have we officially closed the FE exchange now that the PIF date has passed? I'm done with one of my gifts and I have just enough, so I need to know whether I should order more supplies. Not a big deal, just some of the supplies have to be ordered online so they take a bit of time to get ;)

Yes we have reached our official cut off date. Other people can join if they like however they may not get gifts from everyone (at least that is what we did on our last cruise) since many people are pretty busy 2 months before the cruise getting all their stuff in order.
Mine are all done all i have to do know is figure out which suitcase they are gonna be packed in. :)

Cool! Let us know if anyone else joins. One of the things I made turned out to be much quicker and easier than I expected, so if I had a bit of notice I could turn out a few more.

We're trying to pack everything in one carry-on each this trip to avoid paying checked bag fees, and because it's a 3-night I think I can do it! I had to make FE gifts that pack flat and/or small, though.

I'm ready to go now!! :rotfl:

My sister just told me she needs to know how many women and girls - one of the things she's making is girly!
