September 22-25, 2011 Disney Dream Cruise

I sure wish Sept. would hurry up and get here. We are getting things together to make our FE gifts. We also have to figure out how to make an FE to hang without our kids knowing about the trip. We are hoping we can keep it a secret until at least the night before.

Oh, and we got some pixie dust.... I was able to switch our reservations for the week after the cruise from Bonnett Creek, to Old Key West.... We are going to be onsite. :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::banana::banana:

The kids know we are going to disney, because it will be my son's birthday... but they don't even suspect we are taking a cruise first.

Hey all my DREAMER’S just checking on you guys I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Has anyone booked the Dream for next year? I was excited when Disney came out with the 2012 dates but I was not to happy at the cost especially the cost for the Fantasy! I think that we may have to jump on RCCL’s Allure of the Seas will anyways talk to you guys later.

Our plan is to try and book the Fantasy for September, 2012 for this same week that my DD is off school, but since the prices aren't out yet, we'll have to make that decision once they are released. It is shocking, though, how much more the cruises are in 2012 versus 2011. We looked at the 5 nighters again in June, 2012 and the are priced at $700 more than we spent for our 5 nighter this year! :scared1:

Congrats on switching your reservation to OKW - - we joined DVC in 2009, and I hope to be able to stay at OKW at some point, espcially since they just renovated the rooms. What a great surprise for your kiddos - - they are going to be thrilled!!

As to us, we're doing good, except that we've managed to turn a simple kitchen painting project into redoing our entire kitchen. We are getting an awesome, awesome deal, though, so its difficult to pass up (go Craigslist contractors!!). We're taking Easter off, but we hope to be done the following weekend so we can put our house back in order.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great rest of the week and a happy Easter if I don't pop back on before then. :flower3:

Hi, My sisters and I will be on the Dream Cruise in September! First cruise for all of us, but we have been going to WDW together for the last 6 years. This makes number 7! We even did the Princess 5k in February this year. I am looking to get as much info as I possibly can. One of the things i am looking for is info on the Fish Extenders. Where can I find them??

This will be the first cruise for DW and me. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary and the kiddos are staying with Gram and Gramp!!! Coming to Disney and spending the first night at Wilderness Lodge. Next night at the Contemp in a studio and added the platinum plan. 2 solid days of activities followed by three nights at Saratoga in a studio and then the cruise. Can't wait.

Hope to meet some you onboard.

Jim

Hi All,

We're looking forward to meeting every one and learning all the in's & out's of this rather lively group. We cruise a lot (last one ended 4/26) but have missed Disney. Since we live on Merrit Island, 10 minutes from Port Canaverial, we see the ships all the time. Thought it was time to try it out.

Hey everybody. I hope you are all doing well. We have paid the cruise off and are starting to work on our Fish Extender gifts. I can't wait.
We haven't told the kids yet, and they have no idea we are going on the cruise.

Does anyone have an up to date count of how many folks are signed up for FE? I want to make sure we have enough, and since we have never done this before, I have no idea what to plan for.

Thanks folks... I look forward to meeting you all on our trip.

Welcome to all of our newly joining cruisemates!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. We had a busy (but fun-filled) weekend which was awesome! I also had the pleasure of going to 6 Flags for the first time ever. It was no Disney, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually themed, and had characters -- who knew?!? It was a great time, although I have to say that I'm glad that DD hasn't quite reached the necessary height for the big coasters. Some of those looked wicked!

Anyway, hope everyone has a great week. :goodvibes

We were at 6 flags the weekend before with our youth group. It was pretty nice, but I have sure been spoiled with Disney. I am not into Roller coasters, so there wasn't much for me to do. I was just thankful to have some shade.

Hi all,

We're on the cruise but this is a land based request. Even though we live less than an hour away we don't know that much about WDW. I know we have a number of Disney experts on this blog. Two of our adult daughters are visiting with two young grandchildren (5 & 3 yrs) the week of May 23.

Any suggestions on where to get tickets for two days at the Magic Kingdom? Can you bring backpacks into the park with drinks and snacks? Ideas on the best way to see the characters. What is Chef Mickey?

Thanks in advance for any information. We know a lot about cruising. (We've done everything from two days to 110 days.) But not a lot about Disney and WDW. The best bet is to ask the experts and many of you do qualify as Disney experts.

You can use our e-mail, norken1_at_lycos.com to keep this blog focused on the curise.

Welcome to the party!!!

As to the parks, you've touched on my very favorite subject!!

Yes you can bring a backpack into the parks containing drinks, food, snacks, etc. But do keep in mind that everything you bring in is subject to search.

As to the best way to see characters, there are a lot of character meeting spots throughout the parks, but we tend to take advantage of the character meals to see the characters. The Fab 5 are at a lot of locations, including the Contemporary (Chef Mickeys), Beach Club (Cape May), Tusker House (AK), and probably a couple more locations that I'm forgetting. Princesses are located at either Cinderella's Royal Table (MK) or Akershus (E). You can also find the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace (MK). There are also various other character meals throughout the parks and resorts (i.e., Lilo and Stich can be found at Ohana, the Cinderella stepmother and stepsisters at 1900 Park Fare, etc.). The best place to look to find the perfect character meal is Allears in the dining section. Some favorites of ours are Chef Mickeys, Ohana, and Cinderella Royal Table. Make sure to try and book your dining reservations as soon as you can; however, given that your trip is so soon, you may not be able to find much in terms of reservations.

As to tickets, Undercover Tourist has some savings on tickets, so I would recommend checking there.

Since the grandkids are so young, you are probably going to spend your majority of your time at MK, but I would recommend going slow and taking it easy (as tempting as it is to go commando all day through the days, the kiddos will probably be melting down mid-afternoon, unless you take a break).

Anyway, I hope that helps. Ask any other questions you may have. Happy planning! :goodvibes

Good afternoon everyone! This Sept cruise will be the first for our family! yay! We are WDW veterans and DVC owners since 2009....but are new to cruises! We have two Disney obsessed boys 9yrs and 7yrs (so proud teehee) and i think we MUST get involved in the fish extender activity. So, if someone could give me the details...what, where, when and who teehee...that would be fab! Magnets all done thank goodness so figured I would start organizing for this!! C'mon SEPTEMBER!!! Have a great day everyone! :yay:pirate:

Welcome to the board and to the cruise! I'm Lainey i am keeping a list of everyone in the FE gift exchange to email to everyone along with a map of where everyones staterooms are so that no one gets lost delivering their gifts.
With the exchange you can do it however you want some people like me give gifts on one night of the cruise or you can give gifts for each night of the cruise. What you give is up to you and also how much you give. Most people myself included do little gifts some to do with where you live, and almost everyone gives pirate themed little gifts which i know i love and think they are cute.
I also do one home made gift per stateroom every cruise.
For the list i will just need to know who is in your stateroom mainly if you have children their ages mainly so that we can all get them good little gifts and then your stateroom number. You can PM me all of this and i will add you to the list. Right now there are about 10 of us on the list.
Look forward to meeting y'all
