September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

We are planning to go to WDW either before the cruise or after the cruise. Which way is better as we fly from west coast? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks.

Hello Canon. Are you on our cruise? If so, welcome! :goodvibes Let us know so I can add your info to the roll call.

I think that I'd prefer WDW before the cruise because after a cruise I tend to be pretty worn out and a bit off balance. They motion of the ocean seems to stick with me a few days. Plus I'm usually pretty bloated from all the food... I just got off a cruise yesterday and I can tell you for sure I'm in no mood to go to Disney. :sad2:

Welcome to the DIS and the 9-22-12 thread. I too must vote for going to WDW before the cruise. I like to get the running around part done and end with the slower more relaxing cruise. Don't get me wrong I love the parks almost as much as the cruise but the parks are just more physical.

If you are booked for this cruise please let us know so Ron can include you in the roll call. As we get closer to our date we will begin to plan a few exciting group activities to take part in while on board.

Hello, everyone! Just returned from a short 3 nighter on the Dream and I have to say we won't be doing another short cruise...ever! I honestly think that people got on that ship for our cruise and lost their minds. Other than that, we had a great time, though. :rotfl: Hope everyone is having a great week! :goodvibes

I can't make a suggestion based on coming from the west coast, but my preference is WDW before the cruise.

While I love going to WDW, it is not a relaxing vacation. I am always exhausted when we get home from the parks. However, coming home from the cruise (while still very sad to come back to reality) doesn't leave me so exhausted.

I would hit the parks, run around and do all the rides, then board the Fantasy and relax while being pampered with the great Disney service!

Thanks. It's great to know that we should concentrate our energy on the park, considering our kids are so young (3 1/2 and 14 months)

Yes. We are on this fabulous cruise. I am David, my wife Linda and our daughter, Felicity (3 1/2) and son, Matthew (14 months) will be at room 7512. Our hometown is San Jose, CA. Since we are coming from west coast, we choose second dinning.

Thank you GrandMa. I think we will just go to the park first. :yay:

Welcome to our happy and excited group. Our hometown is Sunnyvale, California. My husband and I have lived in California all of our lives. I am from Milpitas, California.:) Small world isn't it?

We are going to visit the parks before the cruise for 3 days but seeing how sad my husband Alan is after we leave the ship, we booked 6 extra days for him in WDW after the cruise so that he might "adjust" better to the real world after vacation:rotfl:

We are going to fly out from San Jose, CA on September 19, 2012 on Southwest. I am anxiously awaiting for them to open those dates so I can book the last item on my agenda!!!!!

Welcome to all the newbies.

Janet and I took a road trip Friday to Marceline MO. This is the town that Walt lived in from ages 4 to 9 years old. They have a Museum in town about the Disney family. The home that they owned is still standing. and we were abl;e to see the tree that Walt called his dreaming tree. It is sad that his tree is all but dead but a family member recently planted a new tree close by that is a seedling of Walts tree. The dreaming tree is what was used to create the Tree of Life.

Main street Marceline is what was used to Model Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. It was so awesome to stand on the street that Walt had walked as a child.

The woman that gave us the tour at the Hometown Museum was 82 years old. What was really neat is when she was just 27 years old and a young mother they were the only family that had Air conditioning in town. Walt and Roy were invited to come visit to dedicate the new community swimmimg pool and the town had no motel that had air so they asked her if she would put them up for they stay. How neat would that be to have Roy and Walt Disney with their wives spend the week-end in your home.

We may just need to go back next year.

Wow sounds like a great trip to take, it is amazing the stories you here from the locals that just make a trip!

Well back to reality for us. :sad1: We had an awesome cruise on RC's Allure of the Seas. :goodvibes Can not wait to do it again!!! Jen will be doing a TR soon.

But first things first... We are less than a year away from our Disney Fantasy cruise!!! :cool2:

So if you guys are interested maybe we could come up with a name for our group.:confused3 What do you think???

I don't really have anything special in mind, but... I do like that graphic that Jen made for us on post one that says- "From Fantasyland to The Fantasy". I think that sounds pretty cool. :thumbsup2 Any other suggestions???

Ron

Glad you had a great cruise, a friend of ours went on the Allure back a few months ago and said it was a huge ship!
I also like the graphic and "From Fantasyland to The Fantasy" it works for me.

Most cruises we do a cruise sandwich a few days in the parks before and a day after. We'll do all our running around before the cruise so we can rest on board ship. But on this trip we are doing the opposit so we can enjoy the Food & Wine Festival over at Epcot, I think it starts around the time we get off the ship :woohoo:
Our plans have changed a little over the last few weeks on where we were going to stay, we became DVC members while on the Alaskan cruise can't wait to try out the Animal Kingdom Villas :woohoo:

Isn't the Dream a Dream what a ship!
My wife a I have done three short cruises with Disney and just finished a seven night to Alaska on the Wonder and I must say seven nights are so so much better :lovestruc can't wait for this cruise :woohoo:

We just stayed at AKL (Jambo House, not DVC Kidani) and LOVED IT! My kids said it was their favorite resort (and they have also been to Boardwalk and the Poly!)

We were in 3633 which was a trek from the lobby, but we were on the sunset savannah and it was INCREDIBLE! We woke up to giraffe, zebra, antelope and cranes outside our balcony every day.

The pool was very big and so nice and peaceful. Lots of chairs...my only complaint...the bartender didn't make a very good drink! :lmao:

Enjoy!

Wow! Are you serious? Sorry if your experience wasn't up to par. We think the drinks are wonderful, and the bloody mary and tropical mojito? are both some of the best on property. In addition, we think the bar staff there is really super.

Yes it is a huge ship! So many fun things to do on it. My only regret is not taking a little more time to relax because there was always so much going on and I didn't want to miss out. :confused3

So far that is 2 for From FantasyLand to the Fantasy.
Any other suggestions? Or anyone else good with this name? :confused3

Glad to hear the cruise was wonderful, but now you probably need a rest. I'll be waiting for the trip report and photos. Our 1st RCI is coming up very shortly.

From FantasyLand to the Fantasy is wonderful, I think. Count me in.:thumbsup2

I am good with this name as well, To be honest I don't care what our group is called as long as I get to be on board!!

Welcome to our happy and excited group. Our hometown is Sunnyvale, California. My husband and I have lived in California all of our lives. I am from Milpitas, California.:) Small world isn't it?

It's really a small world! We actually live in Cupertino and close to San Jose.
We may take AA flight out of SFO as we have plenty of AA miles. We will go the WDW for 3 days and stay at AKL. It will be lots of fun for sure.

We just arrived home yesterday from WDW and had a great time...how was your trip? We were also at the Friday MNSSHP and I was shocked at how many people were standing in line for CANDY rather than rides! Really? We were able to ride everything we wanted (except for Splash due to that stupid lightning that wouldn't go away). We loved the parade and while we didn't wait in lines, we did get our fair amount of candy to bring home.

I was happy that the love bugs weren't as abundant as I had heard. I was only annoyed by them at the Studios on Friday (and I was wearing a light colored shirt) and the pool at AKL on Saturday morning. Other than that, it was a love bug-free zone!

We LOVED AKL (our first stay). We had a savannah view room (the sunset savannah) and when we woke up the first morning to giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and cranes right outside our window, we were hooked. It was definitely worth the price (with my 40% PIN code!).

Now it's back to reality....laundry is already going and the kids have to get off to school. Thankfully, I took today off from work as well, and there is now LESS than one year til the cruise!

Glad you had a great time! I agree about MNSSHP...we couldn't believe how long the candy lines were. We did a little bit of trick-or-treating, but it would rather buy a bag of candy at the store then stand in those long lines. We did everything but Splash (didn't want to get wet) and Tomorrowland Speedway (lightning). We go the same weekend every year for MNSSHP and this was much busier than in year's past. Last year, we SAT in the hub to watch the fireworks...this year we stood shoulder-to-shoulder! Last year, we were about the only ones watching the second parade...this year we were three rows deep!

AKL was awesome...we were upgraded to a savannah view. Got room 4544. It was very nice! We were at the pool on Saturday as well! Had a large group staying at the hotel, so we were all out at the pool most of the day. My DD won the hula hoop contest and my DH was playing football in the pool for a long time with his buddies. Had a fabulous dinner at HOB that evening. We are going back for MVMCP in December, but don't know where we are staying at yet :)

Well back to reality for us. :sad1: We had an awesome cruise on RC's Allure of the Seas. :goodvibes Can not wait to do it again!!! Jen will be doing a TR soon.

Glad to hear you had a fabulous cruise! Neighbors of my mom went on the Allure a few weeks ago and had a great time! From Fantasyland to the Fantasy sounds good to me!

Definitely go to the parks before the cruise!

I agree with you about the bartender! Friend of ours ordered a strawberry daiquiri and didn't like it at all...he ended up giving it to someone else in our group...she didn't like it either! The drink was so bad that we couldn't GIVE it away! LOL!
