September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

I think I spent most of the weekend catching up on posts - wow that really makes me look like I have a life, right?!:lmao: Anyway just wanted to jump on the bandwagon here as we are getting excited for the cruise! We actually leave for WDW on the 18th for a few days first so less than 30 days!!

Can't wait to meet you all!

Hey another person from IL.

Apparently IL is a major market for Disney. I think New York is #1 though.
They opened the first DVC off site Doorway to Dreams (?) demo store in
Schaumburg IL recently.

No wonder they serve Bratwurst at Pluto's

:surfweb:
Checking in on company time to read all the weekend postings.
It looks like everyone has started there final countdown to departure.
We generally travel south in September. So dealing with hurricanes is a reality for us on vacation. Our thoughts are, were not at work, so life is good. :thumbsup2
Good to see more people joining in on the postings....I'm sure there is many out there reading the posting, but not coming out to post. We have many from Chicago, TN, California, Washington, Britian, and Canada. It is interesting to see where everyone is from. I sure there is many more cities, states, and countries repersented on this board. Our DD is excited to make new friends from all over the planet. Now that were getting closer to the big day. I encourage everyone to check in and post. Even if it's just to say hello.
The first day on the boat will be exciting trying to identify everyone. Some of us will stick out in crowd (especially the pregnant ones, no pun intended).

You know Mike, I think many of our vacations will not be complete until we get to see and meet the spandex protectors of the pregnant ones in full super hero costume. (Poor DCL doesn't know what there in for by the sounds of our group) My cameras all charged up eh! Don't forget the cape.... I was also wondering. Since all super heros have special super powers. What are those of the protectors?
I have a feeling this trip is going to be a non stop belly laugh. In or out of spandex.

Cheers,

Alex

JamiT...Welcome to the group :goodvibes We'll be at WDW on the 18th as well. We're leaving home on the 17th...and arriving in Orlando on the 18th at 5:45 AM:scared1: Now...that's going to be a rough day...:rotfl: I think our whole group is hoping to fall alseep on the plane as we'll have a good 6hour flight:goodvibes I think this is the FIRST time ever I've looked forward to having such a long flight...but I feel like I have to since were doing a red eye....it'd REALLY suck if it was just a couple hours. At least with 6 hours we should be able to get SOME sleep (cross my fingers).

Anyone else watching DEAN??? Almost looked like he was going to go right through Cozumel...Although I'm not sure it's any better with how much of a beating Cozumel's getting from the outter bans. :confused3 Looks like it totally missed Grand Cayman :thumbsup2 Anyways...looks like I need to get my act in gear and purchase that trip insurance....;) SOON.

Yep...I like using the magnet sleeves...those sheets of magnet paper for the printer are kinda spendy...not to mention the ink you need to print it. I don't know if I really save anything by having my sign printed at a photo processer...but for $1.50 for a 8x10 at Costco it can't be too bad. Best of all....I don't need to keep buying the magnet papers....I have the sleeve and that's all I need  Although I am thinking about making up a door sign that can be used year after year...instead of making a new one each time. :rolleyes1 I've made buttons and door signs each time with our dates and ports...and although the dates have been correct...the ports have not:laughing: so...why not just make a generic sign that'll cover any route we take...:thumbsup2

Morning everyone!

I've been searching for info on how Cozumel was affected and, from what I can gather, it seems like Dean went 390km south of the area - not being used to hurricanes, I don't know how good/bad that is. :confused3

Another miserable grey day here in London - would you believe the Meteorological Office told us for months that we'd be having a heatwave right about now! :sad2: Honestly, they never get it right...

I've finally gone cruise-shopping crazy! Bought a whole range of items over the last couple of days from nail varnish to a floaty kaftans for over swimwear - and everything in between!!! I'm still on the hunt for some silver sandals tho' so will be pounding the pavements later in the week...

DH collected his suit from the tailors yesterday, v-e-r-y nice! He just needs to get a couple of dress shirts now...

The spandex justice league grants you special super powers. The power of illusion, that makes people believe that you are 19 years again, rock hard abs, and the ability to move without your joints or bones creaking:lmao: :rotfl2:

Karen, with us getting a smaller car, it is forcing us to cut down on our cruise luggage. This is a good thing, as we wind up usually looking like 2 pack mules toting stuff to the terminal.

Welcome aboard to any new cruisers that we have missed.:yay:

I don't think that hurricane Dean effected Grand Cayman too much. Cozumel may have suffered more, I just don't know at this point. Mike

The luggage: Do you park the car and turn in the luggage somewhere or drop off the luggage and park the car?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Last year dh dropped the luggage off with the porter and dd and I walked inside while he parked the car. I'm guessing that that is what we will do this time.

Good plan. Just make sure everyone keeps their own identifications as they ask you at several points.

We pull up in front of the terminal. Luggage is given to the porter, and the boss and her partner in wait for us. We park the car in the lot and then we go through the metal detectors to check in. We make sure that we all go through the detector at the same time so that we can stay together. Then we walk 5 paces behind the wives like we are supposed to.:lmao: :rotfl2: Mike

If you watch the 2000 year old man it is explained that the woman walks in front of the man in case there is a lion or something on the trail.

Great question, Bob! :thumbsup2 Thanks for asking as we'd been vaguely wondering about that too but heaven forbid we should speak up... ;)

How cheeky!!!

You keep giving out all our secrets...

You keep giving out all our secrets...

Hope that they don't find out about the men's super secret way of activating our selective hearing. That comes in handy when the ladies tell us to do something and then we claim we didn't hear it.:lmao: Mike

You keep giving out all our secrets...

Honest to goodness GUYS...
we know your tricks. Why do you think we walk in front of you? If we walked behind you, your selective hearing would be turned off, you'd never hear us scream and the lion WOULD eat us!:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Ann :woohoo:

Selective hearing....Yep, its a must. Just like the magic words of "Yes dear!"

I agree with Mike eh, stay 5 steps backs. Except when then there pregnant, make 2ft. Cause when they want something they want it quickly.:rotfl2:

Lets keep our fingers crossed there's no other big hurricane coming our way in the coming weeks.

Cheers all,

Hi All.

I haven't really had an opportunity to watch too much news today, but it looks like Cozumel was spared and the Mayan ruins in Tulum are still intact. I sure hope our luck holds through the remainder of the hurricane season. Not only for us cruisers, but also for those who live in hurrican prone areas.

Based on past experience, cabin assignments should be reflected online tomorrow or the next day. We have an ideal cabin for this cruise, so although an upgrade would be nice, I'll be more than satisfied if there is no change in our cabin assignment. Eva - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get that Cat. 3 as an anniversary surprise. pixiedust:

Looking forward to meeting all of you VERY soon:yay:

-Kristi
