September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Karen, remember that the inside of the door is magnetic too! I love the one that you designed. I keep trying to decide if I am going to do this. I've made a couple, but haven't gone to the trouble of having them laminated yet.

Spent a great deal of yesterday catching up on reading posts!! Seems the closer it gets to my vacation, the BUSIER things are getting at work! Could be my boss is slipping into panic mode at the thought of me being gone for two weeks (plus two days)! It's only the second time in 15 years I've taken this much time off all at once :sad2:

Welcome back, Marsha - I know what an ordeal this has been for you. We are thinking of you, and looking forward to meeting you on September 22! Remember to take things as slowly as you need to, eat well, get plenty of rest, and take care of yourself - being physically rested and calm helps you process the emotions, which come and go as they will. Here's a hug for now!

Morning everyone!

I've now created a myriad of door magnets for the trip - more than I could possibly use - but TBH I had sooo much fun footling around on Photoshop it was worth it...

Have a good Sunday... :grouphug:

Karen, Your sign is LOVELY! I know how much you and Richard are looking forward to this trip and the wonderful occasion of your anniversary and vow renewal!

Good idea, Eva! If we have more than one, we can keep some inside the door and switch them out from time to time! Bob made one for us today, and I like it a LOT - he's telling the whole world that we're "Cruise Virgins" on our door sign! He wants to do some more editing so I won't give the whole thing away.

Karen, I liked the Disney character quiz - I'm Ariel, and it actually sounds like me!

Take care everyone, and we'll see you in FOUR WEEKS AND SIX DAYS

P.S. -- I am so NOT ready!!! But ready or not ... Bob and I will be there :rotfl:

Looks like two of our ports of call are going to get hammered by hurricane Dean. Cozumel and Grand Cayman are both in the direct track according to the hurricane center. Don't know how much this will effect the excursions as they will have to wait to see how much damage is left after the hurricane. Mike

Mike

With all of your cruise experience how many times has a hurricane affected your cruise? What changes were made to your cruise from the original itinerary because of a hurricane?

Wendy

We were on the Panama Repo in 2005, we just missed a port or 2 due to H. Hillary. No big deal. just caught the next port. But 2 of 3 ports may be out of the question.
With this one, Dean, I dont want to spend 3 weeks going to the Eastern.
Hmmmm...
I wonder if we could take over the ship and head for Puerto Rico and BVI? St Kitts sounds good to me too.:lmao:

Ann pirate:

Wendy on 2 carnival cruises, and 6 disney cruises , we have only been diverted on one disney cruise. You guessed it, it was a western caribbean cruise. We were diverted to San Juan, St Thomas and St Marteen. St Kitts was ok, but Barbados is better:banana: They will always sail away from any storm threat, and alternate ports will be substituted. We may wind up doing 2 stops at Castaway Cay, who knows? Mike

Well, besides hoping the folks in the way of this storm survive ok, all I want is to be on the ship. I do not really care where it goes as long as it goes and they do not run out of milk and ice cream after three days (my Navy travels always did that). Of course, if Bareacuda takes over the ship, we might have to chase it down first. :goodvibes

Just got back from buying a new suit and some other cruise accessories. Very painless since my bride and the sales guy (Perry, who used to work for Disney... must be a omen pixiedust: ) ran around and matched this to that and I mostly stood there and got measured. I am a lucky fella. :lovestruc

Bob, I totally agree! Just get me on that ship! I'm bringing my book on the Caribbean ports of call, so I'm ready! :thumbsup2

Eastern Diversion. Woo-Hoo Topless Beaches!!!! Casinos!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I will have to rethink my outfits.

I am a reverse stripper. I start Naked and woman pay me to put clothes on.
Quite Lucrative.

Chris, if you ever get to Antigua, check out Pineapple beach, worth the trip:woohoo:  :woohoo: :thumbsup2

A good excursion that we enjoyed on St Marteen was the 12 meter regatta. They take former America's Cup racers and you crew it and race against other boats. We loved it. Mike

Might as well make post #3600 on this thread.

There is only going to be a half day of school tomorrow due to the extended heat wave. The schools are air conditioned, but the 570 school buses here are not. Mike

Those poor kids on the buses!:scared1:

Mike funny that you mentioned the regatta race... that's what Dh and I have planned! Sounds like a real blast.:woohoo:

Thanks Scrapperjill! Lots of good info for especially for a first time Disney Cruiser. I have learned so much from all of you on this thread. I appreciate all of your advice and your prior Disney Cruise experience. DH and I will have more fun on this upcoming cruise because of all of you. Thanks.

Aww...thanks. I think we all like to share our knowledge of the ship and cruising...so keep the questions comming. :goodvibes

:goodvibes Just got caught back up on the thread.... And I wanted to let everyone know what we did for our door magnets last time...and what we'll plan on doing this time (If we/I get around to making them).... Anyways I went down to the local craft store and purchased a magnet photo frame. It's just a plane flat photo sleeve backed with a magnet...(not actually a big bulky frame)...that way I was able to make up more than one image and just slide in/out the ones I wanted up. PLUS I'm able to use the same sleeve this year and not have to purchase MORE magnet photo sheets. I just have to make up a new image and print it off. The frames come in a variety of sizes from wallet to 8x10's.

I was also going to add to the Hurricane question. We've booked the Western Cruise 2 times before this...and BOTH times we've been rerouted because of hurricnes. The first time was the week of 9/11/04...we ended up going to San Juan PR, Nassau and Castaway. The following year 10/05 we were rerouted again...this time going to St Thomas, St. Martian and Castaway. Both cruises we had a BLAST and although we really want to make it to the western ports...I know Disney will do what they need to and we will have a great time no matter where we go. We're hoping that booking the Western for the third time is lucky...third times a charm....I guess we'll see. :goodvibes Anyways the cruises we've been on Disney has (I think) done a few extra things for everyone because of the change in plans. The first time we recieved a large DCL print that was specialy made for the new cruises that year to San Juan PR...along with ALOT of free drink hours;) ...I guess they figured...better to keep everyone happy and tipsy than give them time to really think of the changes. The second time...we also had quite a few free drink hours...that I think were because of the changes in the plans.

Free Drink Hours!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Bring on the Hurricane. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sort of like Y2K. I was all for it. Any banking glitch would have been in my favor. Had nothing to lose.

I was hoping that Y2K would mess up the banks too, especially our morgage.
I would have loved to see it say "Paid in Full"

That's a great idea, Sandi, especially as it's future-cruise-proof! :thumbsup2

Regarding any potential hurricane diversions, I'm just going to make sure I'm up to speed on the DCL excursions offered on the Eastern so we're prepared should this Western become an Eastern! Plus I'll bring my book on the Caribbean should they throw us with an unexpected POC...

WHEREVER WE GO, I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO BE ONBOARD!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo:  :cool1:
